Truly enjoyed reading this book. It was interesting to read about cases from nearby locations (some very close to home) and how the investigations are carried out. I could clearly picture everything Rob was describing and feeling. Always enjoy his books. If you live in Maryland, or have ever lived in Maryland, definitely add this to your reading list.

Q&A: Spirit Voices Sound Like They're in Another Room, Early Experiences, Haunted Kitchen

If you've heard voices that sound like their coming from another room, and there's no one there, they are likely spirits visiting. That's what happened to Lynne, who recently wrote me to tell me her experience. Learn WHY they sound like they're in another room..
Lynne  also saw 2 ghostly figures in a church, and talked about that, too. Here's the story:

LYNNE'S PARANORMAL VOICE EXPERIENCE:  Rob, have you ever heard voices like people talking far enough away you cant make out what they are saying but the voices are actually from a vent in a bedroom nearby. This has happened to me two times growing up.

MY ANSWER:  Yes, spirits (who have crossed over and come back to visit) and even Earth Bound ghosts always sound like they are talking in another room.  That's because it takes a LOT of energy for a spirit or ghost to make an audible sound. In actuality, they are likely in the SAME room as you are.

LYNNE'S EXPERIENCE AS A TEEN: When I was about 15 I was home alone from school not feeling well so I took a bath. When the water stopped running I heard voices in the living room i figured I left the tv on. I wrapped a towel around me and went out to turn the TV off. It was never on. Do you think as a young person I had the talent to see/hear ghosts?  Nothing has happened in my older years. Why?

MY ANSWER:  We are more apt to hear and see spirits or earthbound ghosts at a younger age, since we haven't yet been forced to explain things with our logical minds. We are more intuitive  at that age, and tend to trust our feelings.

LYNNE'S CHURCH GHOST EXPERIENCE: When I was around 30 years old, I was in my church's dining area. I put the soup on before the service, and later I went down to check on it three quarters through service. As I walked into the large dining area I saw two white images on each side of the pot.

New England Puritan Lore: The Devil Made Many Appearances

The Devil in DC  Comics' Batman Family #1, by Mike Grell
The Patriot Ledger newspaper in Quincy,Massachusetts publishes a "Haunted New England" feature every month, and this month is about "the Devil" making appearances during Puritan times.

I’m Eryn Dion, Regional Engagement Editor for Gannett New England, and this is Haunted New England.

Turns out the Devil made quite a few appearances around New England in the colonial days, getting around to the First Church of Ipswich, outside the JC Solmonese School in Norton, near the Center School in neighboring Easton, all in Massachusetts. He made the trek up to Maine and left his mark on a stone outside the Manchester Meeting House, and came back down to North Kingstown, Rhode Island , leaving behind strange, triangle-shaped impressions or deep human-sized depressions in otherwise solid rock. These are just some of the more well-known examples - I’m sure many, many small New England towns have their own local legends passed down to kids just like me.

But all of this begs the question - was Satan just jumping around ye olde thyme New England, burning holes in rocks wherever he went? And if not, why did our ancestors see weird holes in rocks and automatically think the Devil did it?

To find the answer, like most things, the Devil is in the details.

Remember, New England, and our country as a whole, was founded by Puritans. The first New England colonies were religious settlements, and families came to these colonies from England and beyond largely for religious purposes. Their religious beliefs were so strong, so integral to themselves and their lives, that they were willing to uproot their families and leave behind everything to cross the Atlantic on a musty, cramped boat and come to a land where they would literally be starting from square zero. Not even a Dunkin Donuts.

Religion ruled Puritan life and their whole existence revolved around working hard, going to church, dying (at a relatively young age) and going to heaven. That was it for them. God controlled their lives. Good things came from God and God’s favor, bad things came from the Devil, but also God not stepping in to do you a solid.

It’s also important to know that, to the Puritans, the Devil wasn’t some amorphous figure representing evil. He was a real dude. You could meet him in the flesh while out riding your horse or toiling in the fields. You could even fight him, like the Rev. George Whitefield did in 1740 in the First Church of Ipswich, which, according to legend, led to their pair of Devil’s footprints when Whitefield got into a wrestling match with the Devil and pushed him off the church’s steeple. You could make a deal with him and sell your soul to get ahead, or worship him to gain his favor in the form of witchy powers.

And life in early Colonial America was, frankly, scary. Death was rampant, from starvation, disease, or conflict with Native Americans. Any injury could easily become infected. The winters were harsh and cruel. Children died at a young age. Families toiled long hours just to sustain the household, nevermind make a modest living. It makes sense, for them to believe the Devil was everywhere, because to them he was. He was in every failed crop, every drought, every sick cow, every time they ran out of firewood or every ferocious hurricane blown ashore. And if someone managed to get ahead? If they found success, whether as a politician or a businessperson? Well, the Devil was in them, too.

So when our colonial forefathers happened upon a rock in the woods with mysterious, triangle impressions, I think it was easy for them to point and say, “Well, speak of the Devil. There he was.”

In the news- Woman sees her dog's face in the clouds hours after pet's death

Pets have a lot of ways to communicate from spirit, and although using clouds isn't common, it's effective and a matter of timing. That is, because clouds are dynamic, and change shape within a minute or minutes, catching sight of a cloud at the exact moment that it may resemble your pet is because your pet in spirit influenced you to look up, in that direction, at that exact time. If you read my books, Pets and the Afterlife and Pets and the Afterlife 2, you'll learn there's no such thing as a coincidence. Here's the story from MSNBC

Woman sees her dog's face in the clouds hours after pet's death
Hours after her dog, Sunny, passed away, Lucy Ledgeway found comfort in the skies.

June 30, 2020, 12:51 PM EDTBy Ashley Capoot

Lucy Ledgeway said goodbye to her 14-year-old dog, Sunny, who passed away in her father’s arms at their home after suffering a seizure on June 20. However, her furry friend wasn’t gone for long; Ledgeway spotted the canine's face in the clouds just hours after she died.

Sunny was a Parson Russell terrier that Ledgeway, 19, and her family rescued when she was just 6 years old. Ledgeway, who lives in the city of York in northern England, told TODAY that Sunny was funny and loving, but she also had a lot of health issues. She was diagnosed with diabetes last year, and the vets told her family that she only had between 12 to 15 months left to live.

Sunny had been taking insulin for 13 months before her health started to deteriorate, and Ledgeway said her family had a serious scare a couple of days before she passed. Sunny had been throwing up and having trouble going to the bathroom, and her family and veterinarians thought she was going to have to be euthanized. To their surprise, Sunny managed to perk up for one last good day with her family. “She was in bed up until around 2 p.m., and then my brother got a bag of crisps out and started eating and she started sniffing up,” Ledgeway told TODAY. “It gave us a bit of hope, like, ‘Oh, so she’ll be all right.’” In fact, Sunny’s demeanor had improved so much that her veterinarians decided there was no need for her to be put down.

Ledgeway said Sunny seemed to be feeling better that day, but she died the following morning. Ledgeway said she was feeling emotional and told her boyfriend that she wanted to see a sign in the sky that proved Sunny was all right. Two hours later, she went outside and said she saw Sunny’s face in the clouds.

My 5 Min. Interview on the UK's Chat and Spin Radio! (at 1 hr 3 mins in)

This past weekend I was showcased in a 5 minute interview on great 80s music station from the United Kingdom, called "Chat and Spin Radio."
Chatandspinradio.com is based out of Washington, Tyne and Wear, England. They play a great mix of music and offer short interviews with authors. You can hear my interview at 1 hour and 3 minutes (1:03) into the show. It's right after Bette Midler's "From a Distance" plays. (and right before Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire" plays).

Paranormal Q&A: What are some things people can do at home to amplify their connection to the spirit realm?

Each week, I'll answer a question about the paranormal, whether a general question, or one about human or animal ghosts (Earthbound) or spirits (crossed over). Here's this week's question:

Q: What are some things people can do at home to amplify their connection to the spirit realm?

A: People need to trust their feelings of their surroundings. Positive emotional people can tune in much better than negative people. Positive emotions, love, faith and hope - remove blocks from getting in touch with loved ones in spirit (who have crossed over).   Also, meditation or just sitting in a quiet place, even in the shower (where I get a lot of messages) when I'm at peace.  Play soft instrumental music, think of peaceful settings. Relax your body and mind. Those things help amplify the connection.

A New Review of Pets and the Afterlife by Rob Gutro

If you have read any of my books, I would greatly appreciate even a short review on Amazon.com, because (with the millions of books out there), it makes the book more visible to readers. Here is a recent review of my book "Pets and the Afterlife" by Rob Gutro:

A Soothing Balm After the Loss of a Pet June 25, 2020
I was devastated after I lost my precious dog to a coyote attack. The grief was heavy and the next day, I searched for a resource to get me through the first rough week. After finding a podcast interview with Rob Gutro about losing your pet, I sought out his book and ordered the digital version so I wouldn't have to wait for it to arrive. I read it e-cover to e-cover. By the time I was done, I not only found a sense of peace from our loss but a deep feeling of connection to our beloved dog. Thank you, Rob, for this wonderful book! If you are missing your lost pet, I recommend that you buy this book. I will be getting his other books too.

Pets and the Afterlife Helped Identify a Sign from a Dog in Spirit

Recently I received a wonderful note from Grazia of Italy, whom had read one of my Pets "Your books made me understand a sign that our dog sent me, when she had died. It is true that, without the guidance you give, such signs would remain odd little events with no explanation. "  - Grazia Piombo
and the Afterlife books and was able to understand a sign from her dog. Pets, like people, will make us hear their name to convey to us that they are still very much around us.
Grazia wrote:

Grazia was kind enough to convey the whole story and gave me permission to share it. Here is the story in her own words:

We got our pup from a family who were giving away the latest litter of their own dog couple. Since she looked quite similar to another dog who had formerly belonged to an aunt of mine, we called her like this aunt’s pet. For reasons that go too far to explain, this aunt had settled for ‘Pepsi’ as a name. Our pet was a crossing of a Setter and a Cocker, black with a white patch on her belly, and a white strand on the outermost tip of her tail. She was one of those creatures that break hearts without trying, with her own little fan base among the children in our neighborhood (although, more dogs than not may have the famous ‘aww’ effect).
Pepsi was sweet and a bit shy, smart and so charming, she managed to turn my mother from a cat person, to a dog person. (My mother later resorted to birds since, due to an accident she had, and her age, she could not walk well enough anymore to take care of a dog properly.)
Our pet passed away in June 2006, when she was almost sixteen years of age. Luckily, I was not at home when it happened; it was bad enough to learn the news on the phone. Naturally, we all fell into deep mourning for a long while.
Several months later, and it might have been the anniversary of her passing (but, since I had no idea of the significance of such dates then, I cannot say this for sure), I went to our local Aldi to buy some groceries. Imagine the surprise when, out of the blue, a lady in a row nearby turned around and called her young teenage daughter: “Pepsi!” – I had to look again. Never before or after have I heard anybody, or any pet except the two in our family, being called by that name (in this case, probably a nickname)! Thanks to your books, I now understand that our own Pepsi was giving a signal.
When I went home, I told my mother about this unexpected, funny and a bit poignant moment, and we renewed the memories of our darling.
Thank you for giving her a little space in your Hall of Fame.

Read About How a Spirit Rescued Me When Lost- in "Kindred Spirits" by Rob Gutro

It's uncommon for a medium really get know a spirit so well that the living person considers the spirit a best friend. But that's exactly what happened to medium and paranormal investigator Rob Gutro. When he was lost in the English Countryside and his GPM went haywire, the spirit of Ed sent a man to rescue Rob. The rescuer looked EXACTLY as Ed would have looked, had he lived. That's just one of the stories in Gutro's latest best-selling Amazon.com book "Kindred Spirits: When a Medium Befriends a Spirit."
TO BUY ON AMAZON: https://tinyurl.com/y9an9jo2

When Rob, an author, medium and paranormal investigator, met his partner Tom in 2005, Ed's spirit came along for the ride. Tom knew Ed but Rob never met him since Ed died in 1996. Over the last 14 years, Ed has communicated with Rob so much, that he now considers Ed a good friend.

Now, Ed often communicates to Rob and has revealed his sense of humor, his heart, and helped solved the mystery of his passing. Ed's "Spirit Treasure Hunt" showed his family he's with them, too. Ed even sent a look-alike to rescue Rob during a vacation in England. As you read about this special spirit named Ed and his sometimes funny communications, you'll learn signs your loved ones send. This book will teach you how to be more aware of messages from your loved ones in spirit.

"Being a friend with Ed in spirit is like having a friend who lives in another state," Gutro said in describing his relationship with Ed's spirit.

Although Rob has become known as a "Pet Medium" through the success of his books "Pets and the Afterlife" and "Pets and the Afterlife 2," he also connects with human Earthbound ghosts and spirits.

He is the first in the paranormal field to make the distinction between earthbound ghosts and spirits who have crossed over. Rob has three books about his experience with human ghosts and spirits, called "Ghosts and Spirits," "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead," and "Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation," the latter of which was published last year.

Rob Gutro is a member of the Inspired Ghost Tracking Group of Maryland, and has been featured in the Washington Post and nationally syndicated radio programs like "Coast to Coast AM." Rob is a volunteer with Dachshund and Weimaraner rescues and gives fundraising lectures for animal rescues around the U.S., teaching grieving pet parents how pets communicate from the afterlife.
