Haunted Highways #3: New Jersey Bridge

Credit: Weird NJ.com
There are several haunted roadways and in today's blog you'll read about one of them  thanks to the Travel Channel's "Haunted Highways and Byways."   Today's haunt is a New Jersey Bridge.

Did you ever get bad feelings while driving on the highway? Well, sometimes whenever people die in car accidents their physical bodies die and their consciousness wakes up as energy and are confused. If they linger too long trying to figure out what happened, they get stuck Earthbound as a ghost. (you can read about that in my books "Ghosts and Spirits" and "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead.")

Haunted Bridge

Apparently, bridges don't just allow drivers to cross over rivers and streams. They also let ghosts cross over from the realm of the dead into the land of the living. According to a New Jersey tale, a dead boy — who may have drowned or been struck by a car — lurks under a bridge on Clinton Road in West Milford. Throw a coin into the water, and he'll toss it back, or at least return it to the bridge or leave it on the ground by midnight. The haunted bridge is near — you might have guessed — Dead Man's Curve.

Must Read; Ghosts of Maryland by Mike Ricksecker

If you live in Maryland, are interested in the variety of history (including the Civil War) and its ghosts, or just driving through, you must get Mike Ricksecker's book " Ghosts of Maryland." Mike has compiled fascinating ghost stories from the state. The first part of the book spotlights various known hauntings and the second half of the book gives summaries of other hauntings from all of Maryland's counties, complete with a map of the county and the location of the haunting. I'll be using this as a guide to visit the places that are open to the public, and see if I can encounter any of these ghosts. Highly recommended!
Mike Ricksecker

ABOUT THE BOOK - Explore the supernatural history of Maryland through its countless ghost stories and legends. With over 100 ghost stories and an atlas to guide you, this comprehensive collection includes details unearthed for the first time in decades!

Q&A with Medium Rob Gutro - Reincarnation, Pets

Recently I received a couple of questions about reincarnation and Pets in spirit. Here are the Q and A;

1)   Do you do a reincarnation connection?  I can't tell you what spirits will come back as, but I do know that we all DO come back. So, she will return and be connected to everyone she was connected with in this life (after everyone passes).  People and pets wait to come back until everyone they know in this life has passed (there are exceptions, and some do come back more quickly, but it seems to be rare).
We all come back unless we achieve a level of perfection, but there seem to be a limited number of people and pets who do (although I would bet that pets achieve spiritual perfection a lot faster than people do!).

2)  When you say pets have the intelligence of a 3-5 year old, you mean while they are in their fur bodies, right?   Yes.
As I cite in my Pets and the Afterlife books, Dr. Stanley Coren (who wrote several books on the intelligence of dogs and cats) assessed that they have the same level of intelligence of a 3 to 5 year old human child. When they get to the other side, the do develop more of an awareness and knowledge in spirit- which enables them to communicate with the living!

Urns, Ashes and Spirit Visitors

People who have urns in their homes with ashes of people or pets may get spiritual visitors, but they
are NOT ghosts. As I explain in my books "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead" and "Ghosts and Spirits," spirits (who have crossed over) of our loved ones can be drawn to their ashes, because their ashes contain a small amount of residual energy.

Ghosts are earth-bound and usually stuck to the places they choose to dwell. Spirits (human or pets) who cross over into the light, can come back to earth and visit their loved ones any time they have something to say. Having their ashes in the house gives the spirits something extra to be drawn to. That doesn't mean you need their ashes to have them visit you. Most people and pets are buried or cremated and spirits only visit their gravesites when a loved one comes to pay their respects. The living person's emotional energy of love gives strength to the spirit to draw them there.

One woman told me that she has ashes of her cat, and sensed that cat several times. My own puppy that passed has come back to me many times, and I have his ashes in the house. Years ago, a roommate had ashes of his mother in the house and she appeared in the house who appeared as a dark shadow in the apartment.

So, urns containing ashes can be a draw for spirits to come back from time to time and visit but its a minimal draw. They come back because because you love them and they love you. All they need is love.

But that shouldn't prevent you from burying the ashes. Spirits of loved ones find us because of the love we share for them. That love acts as an invisible tether of energy that enables spirits to come to us anywhere in the world at anytime.

Haunted Highways and Byways #2: Route 66 Haunts

There are several haunted roadways and in today's blog you'll read about one of them  thanks to the Travel Channel's "Haunted Highways and Byways."

Route 66 Hauntings
You might not expect Route 66, America's "Mother Road," to be menacing. You'd be wrong. Begun in 1926, it was one of the first highways in the U.S. Highway System., running from Chicago to the Pacific Ocean. Over the years, it seemed to attract the undead, from spooky hitchhikers waving pale thumbs, to paranormal happenings in roadside hotels. It encompasses some 100 frightening spots in all, including the Hotel Monte Vista in Flagstaff, Ariz., where a phantom bell boy knocks on guests' doors at night; to the mysterious "Spook Light," an unexplained orb that appears in the dark sky over Quapaw, Okla.; to a theater in Albuquerque, N.M., plagued by a mischievous little boy who died there in a 1951 boiler explosion.

Messages from my Friend Linda's Spirit

Sixteen days ago, my friend Linda, of 28 years passed away. I have so many fond memories of Linda. She loved Louisiana, cats, her children, her work, and had a great sense of humor. She would often share many funny stories of her adventures, and I can still hear that laugh. Since I'm a medium it was no surprise that I sensed her there, and then she shared some things with me!

Her service was held at an historic mansion, and was set up like an English Tea. Linda loved English tea events so it was perfect.  I saw many of my old work colleagues from almost 30 years ago!

Linda was indeed at the event today and her sense of humor came through loud and clear. She told me a couple of things.
First, she said that "Some colleagues didn't age well." Then she laughed. I heard her laugh!!

The next thing she told me was about when she went in managed care. (She had dementia). She said that they wouldn't let her smoke. She still smoked, that I know. - So  she said to me that "that was no kind of care." She decided that if she couldn't do what she wanted and enjoy life the way she wanted she didn't want to go on - so she stopped eating (earlier on the phone, her son told me she stopped eating).

She was very happy that the event was at the historic mansion where she helped serve tea during her retirement.. She loves it so much.

Finally, she told me to thank all of the ladies she worked with serving those afternoon teas, that she's so grateful for the time you they had together. It was a true highlight of her retirement, and she will be sitting there whenever there's an afternoon tea. People who continue to serve the teas may smell a whiff of smoke, or hear her softly laugh, but she'll be there!

Meet Tracey: A Groomer Who Communicates with Live Animals

Tracey and Pup
A medium (like me) is someone who communicates with people and pets who have passed away. An animal communicator is someone who communicates with living pets. Animal communicators have the ability to determine why pets have behavior problems, fears, or even medical issues that may not be obvious. In Sept, 2019, I met a dog groomer named Tracey in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania who has the ability to communicate with live animals. In today's blog, you'll meet her, too. If you live near Chambersburg and get your dog groomed by her, you'll likely get inside info into what your dog is thinking, too!
Here's her story from an email she wrote me>

Hi - My business is at an address. I don't travel for grooming. The address is, 15328 Church Street, Blue Ridge Summit, PA 17214, the phone is 717-765-4900. I'm on Facebook as Puppy Spa Day.

I grew up in PA and MD. We moved around a lot when I was a kid, so making and keeping friends was hard. I had much more meaningful relationships with the animals we had. I never realized I had a gift and still doubt myself most of the time if someone asks about it. I NEVER doubt what I'm getting from the animals though. I am positive I'm understanding their needs. I'm working on learning how to get more precise answers from them, but for now, I'm understanding their body language mostly. At times, I feel like I can hear them speaking to me. I usually do a voiceover when I have dogs in my shop. I'll ask them a question, then talk like they are answering me. LOL!

I can read their body language on TV, or in a picture, and especially in person. I feel their sadness and pain, their happiness and glee, but can't always understand why just yet. I can usually figure out their quirks and triggers and help them through the grooming process. I can tell if they'll be good with other dogs, with my employee, with strangers, with certain types of noises. I can tell why they hate the blow dryer, or why they hate their nails done. I can tell if it's harder for them to cope with mom or dad around, or kids, or high energy doggies. There's so much I can see in a dog, almost immediately. A lot of it stems from their owner at the other end of the leash, so I get a better understanding as they spend more time with me at the shop. A dog will tell you everything, if you'll listen.

I can't explain why or how I understand these things, I just do.

I learned how to ride horses at age 2 and started horse shows shortly afterwards. I always liked riding bareback, because I could feel their feelings, anxieties, calmness, etc. I knew pretty much right away, whether or not the ride was going to go good, or if I was going to to be thrown as soon as possible. Haha!

As I got older and headed out of high school, I worked as a waitress. The restaurant had a big Bassett hound that would spend a lot of the day, in the back, dishwashing area. I didn't realize it, but I was reading him. I felt sad when he was sad and so happy when he was happy. As he got older (I worked there 9 years) I started feeling his pains and weaknesses and tiredness. It was sometimes too sad for me to even look at him. It hurt me. I didn't understand it then, but I know why now.

I worked a few different jobs, feeling my way around, trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I figured out that I didn't like people so much. People can be so mean. I did so much better and understood animals way more than people.

I got a job at an animal hospital in Westminster, where I learned so much, medically. I did receptionist work, vet assistant, helped in surgeries, helped deliver puppies, help with euthanasia and emergencies, learned vital signs and a few typical meds, also boarding/kennel work, cleaning runs, walking, feeding and medicating dogs, bathing, and eventually, grooming the dogs. It was a very fast paced animal hospital and I didn't always enjoy that. I wanted more time with each individual dog.

After a job switch again to people, I realized, that I definitely, wanted and needed to work with animals. A friend of mine (groomer friend) nagged me until I broke and I went for an interview with a highly talented, perfectionist, groomer...in business 20 years at that time. I learned tons more than I ever imagined I would. Not just grooming, but doggie language. I knew this was what I wanted to do. Now, I have my own grooming salon. Pretty successful, too! Open 2 years this coming January, 2020, and almost 500 clients!

I have helped many dogs over the years with their grooming and behavior issues. I love what I do!
