What are Rob Gutro's 6 Books About?

I'm a medium and a paranormal investigator, who has been able to communicate with those who passed since I was 13 years old. Since 2005, when my puppy passed, I've been able to also communicate with pets in the afterlife. Friday Night Ghost Frights: Are Shadow People Aliens?

My friend Mike Ricksecker addresses a theory about Shadow People encountered during paranormal investigations. I've always sensed that Shadow people are life forms from another solar system/universe. Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead: Be Considerate of Others

    In my book "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead" I provide a lot of insight not only into the many ways that human spirits (and Earthbound ghosts) communicate with us, and things our loved ones in spirit recommend we do in this life to make it better for ourselves and others. 

  One of the main lessons they tell me is: "Be Considerate of Others."   

   Recently, that message has echoed throughout my emails and this applies to all whom email me about free readings (I offer 1 per person and ask you buy a book).  I get up to 40 requests a week and each take 15 minutes. - BTW, there are no other mediums/authors who offer free readings.

   Several times this week I've received emails from grieving folks for whom I have already given a free spirit reading, and they asked for 1, 2, 3 or in one case 7 more free readings about different people and pets who they have lost! That's unfair to everyone else and to me.

   I understand the sense of loss and a desire to want to connect. All of my older relatives have passed. My parents, aunts and uncles,and grandparents have all passed. I've also lost several friends that are my age or younger. Of course I would like to hear from them all, but even as a medium, that's not possible.  

   So, I'm not trying to be mean by telling folks that I don't have time to do multiple readings for every pet, cousin, or relative who passed- but I am one guy, and I do this out of the goodness of my heart, on my family time. So, even from the start in 2010, I've asked people be considerate of ME and of OTHERS if you have already had a reading. There are 8 billion people on this planet and everyone has lost someone. 

  I specifically wrote the books so people could learn to see the signs from spirit themselves without asking (and 99% of the time paying) a medium.  Further, if you buy a book and teach your self, you become self-reliant and you learn and can teach others! (Remember the saying: "Teach a man to fish and they eat for life, give them a fish and they keep asking for another?) 

  NOTE:  Buying a Book after getting a reading is a nice way to thank me and provides me some funds to travel to Animal Rescues where I do fundraisers (again, I use the meager profits from the book to do that)!  (all available on Amazon, and under $10, so they are affordable). 

TOUCHED BY OTHER'S KINDNESS- I've met wonderful people via email readings. One woman made a donation to an animal rescue in my late dog Sprite's name.  A couple in Texas sent me a beautiful arrangement of flowers. These people went over and above and I so appreciate them. You can tell, I've never forgotten the gesture of kindness. 

   
    The Bottom Line is "Please be considerate of others and their time. Don't take advantage of someone's good nature, and let others experience healing as you have."

Paranormal Q&A: How do you know if you're picking up words from a spirit ?

Each week, I'll answer a question about the paranormal, whether a general question, or one about human or animal ghosts (Earthbound) or spirits (crossed over). Here's this week's question: 

Q: How might one know, if they're really picking up words from a spirit (or loved one that has passed),or if it's all in their mind? (maybe because they knew this person so well)...

  

A: Good question! Spirits (those who crossed over as opposed to ghosts who chose to remain Earthbound) usually come around on birthdays, anniversaries or holidays (and sometimes a week or two away from those events). So, if you "hear something" that you think may be from spirit, check if one of those special times is near.

   Spirits will also tell us a word or give us a clue about something we would not know about, forcing us to ask someone else they know to make sense of it. Messages from spirit, and mediumship are puzzles that we have to put together.

  Also, if you find yourself suddenly thinking about something that is tied to someone in spirit, it's likely that the spirit influenced you to think about it out of the blue. Spirits can also influence us to drive down different streets at a given time to avoid an accident.

   Try to think back, too, to see if someone mentioned the object recently, because that may trigger the word in your head. If that's the case, it's not a message from spirit, just something you're remembering.

Paranormal Q&A: What causes a spirit to linger in this realm? How common is this?

Each week, I'll answer a question about the paranormal, whether a general question, or one about human or animal ghosts (Earthbound) or spirits (crossed over). Here's this week's question: 

Q: What causes a spirit to linger in this realm? How common is this?

A: Ghosts are the entities who choose to remain Earthbound. Spirits have crossed over into the light. I made that distinction in my breakthrough book "Ghosts and Spirits" because they're not the same. It's "Location, location, location." 

As for what "causes" people's or a pet's ghost to linger in this realm - it's actually personal choice!    Some people stay to try and "help" grieving family members (but Ironically they can only do this if they cross over and become a spirit), or they may have unfinished business... or they may be seeking forgiveness for something they did to hurt someone. Or if they're deeply religious, they may fear the other side (because we have an awakening when we die, which is a life review of all good and bad things we've done).

There are many more reasons, but it's an individual choice. My advice to everyone - Cross Over ASAP!  Lingering as a ghost is like living in an eternal purgatory of sorts because they can't speak to spirits, and only a medium (who is needed to cross them over).

It isn't common for people to stay as ghosts. I would say that 95% cross over. Paranormal investigators and mediums are called to help the other 5% cross (because for some reason, after they're a ghost for a short time, they lose the ability to cross over).

Q: What is your view on exorcisms and the Christian view of spirits?

A: First, I don't believe in "demons." I think that what we call demons are just life forms in spirit from other solar systems that made their way to Earth. Like wild animals that get defensive, other lifeforms that don't know us would get defensive and perhaps take over the body of a living person.

The concept of demons was conjured up to frighten people into behaving.  Exorcisms work on the principal of positive emotional energy, not religion. When a holy man, who are generally good of heart and has a lot of positive energy, tries to expel a ghost or spirit who is a bad person with a lot of negative energy, if the positive energy is strong enough, it will dispel or move the negative energy out (as a scientist, I believe it's all about energy).

Positive emotional energies are faith, hope and love. Negative emotional energies are fear, anger, depression, anxiety, hatred,. - It's because of positive emotional energy that prayer works (from any religion or non-religion)- It's the projection of faith-energy.  So, you need not be a priest or Christian to expel a bad ghost or spirit from someone  - and possessions are  rare.

Paranormal Q&A: What was your first case?

Q: What was your first case? 

A: Although I encountered many ghosts on my own, my first "case" with the Inspired Ghost Tracking Group of Maryland was at a haunted books store in Baltimore called the "Book Escape>"  I wrote about that investigation in my book "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead."

  The bookstore reported that often the book they were looking for would be placed on the floor of the room in which it was filed. They also told of a glass sliding across a counter.

  I went into the investigation with another medium and the manager of the group, and we were able to figure out the identity of the ghost, and I even got a photo of him that I put in the book!

A Spirit Sends a Butterfly

Butterflies can be signs from spirit

Spirits can manipulate living things in nature, including butterflies and birds. That was part of a talk I gave at the Belmont Manor in Elkridge, Maryland on February 8th called "Signs from spirit in the Afterlife."

DON'T TAKE IT TO EXTREMES 
It doesn't mean that every time you see a butterfly it's a spirit. That's ridiculous. So, how do you know?  Well, if you're thinking about the person at the time a butterfly appears, and the butterfly lingers and acts oddly. Butterflies usually flit quickly away from people and animals. So, if the butterfly lingers, it's very likely a sign from a loved one.

A WOMAN'S EXPERIENCE  
During the talk, a woman explained that her fiancee passed away.She was thinking of him when she went to the back door of her home to let their dog out into the yard. She said that when she stepped outside, a butterfly appeared around her and circled around her. The butterfly stayed around her for quite a long time so she knew it was her fiancee's spirit giving her reassurance that he was still with her.
  

TIMING - If you're thinking of a loved one when some animal or insect around you behaves oddly, it's likely a sign. Spirits often send us signs around birthdays, anniversaries and holidays, so if it happens around one of those times, it's also likely a sign.

Last night, Feb. 6, I gave the talk "Signs from Spirit" at the Belmont Manor in Elkridge,MD with the Inspired Ghost
 Tracking Group.  The room was full and there were so many wonderful experiences.
  During these 1 hour (plus) talks, I explained the difference between a ghost and a spirit (there is a difference that I identify in my books "Ghosts and Spirits" and "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead" ) and provide many different ways that spirits give us signs from the afterlife. The audience learned that signs come at certain times, and the importance of those times.

What is an Orb? Can it be a Ghost, Spirit or Both?

Today we'll explore orbs and what they look like if they are connected to an Earth bound ghost or a spirit (whom has crossed over). I talk about orbs in my books "Ghosts and Spirits" and "Lessons Learned." Most of the time, they can be debunked or discounted, but every now and then you run into a genuine ghostly/spirit orb! 

WHAT IS AN ORB?

A Dictionary definition of an orb is an unexpected, often circular photographic artifact. In terms of paranormal activity, orbs are the most simple form a ghost or spirit can take. However, you need to be careful in calling something an orb.

 

GHOSTS OR SPIRITS? - As I explain in my books, the difference between a ghost and a spirit is location. Ghosts are Earthbound, spirits have crossed over. BOTH, however, can take the most simple form of an orb.

WHAT DO ORBS LOOK LIKE?
  I've found that orbs that are associated with a ghost or spirit can be differentiated from non-orbs in a couple of ways. Orbs usually have designs or colors in them. 
Reflections, bugs, dust or pollen do not have designs or colors in photographs and are often mistaken for orbs.

  Further, genuine orbs may also have a face in them!  In one investigation I wrote about in my book "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead" myself and Troy, another medium in the group sensed 2 female ghosts in a home where a double murder occurred (unbeknownst to us). One of the Inspired Ghost Tracking Team captured an orb in the area where we sensed the two female ghosts. In the orb was the FACE of a woman. You can see it here and it appears in the book (available on Amazon) that also explains the entire investigation. 
 
Orbs During Paranormal Investigations
   I've noticed orbs appear in photos whenever I'm sensing a ghost. There -up investigation days later, an orb appeared with the face of a woman behind it!  (This is also featured in my book "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead.")

 What do others say about orbs? 

Dave Juliano of Shadowland.net, a ghost hunter, defines an Orb this way: The orb is the energy being transferred from a source (i.e. powerlines, heat energy, batteries, people, etc) to the spirit so they can manifest.   This may not even be a conscious thing the spirit is doing, just a natural way they get their energy.  This would explain why the orbs are round balls.  According to the laws of Physics energy being transferring like that would assume is natural shape of a sphere.   This theory can also be tied into the EMF readings we get during spirit activity.    Dave brings up a good point about Camera Processing errors: The digital cameras can't have film-processing errors.  I am aware that some people feel that the orbs on a digital camera are an error in the digital processing of the image.  When that error does occur in digital photos, the objects tend to be square in nature, not round and they cannot be semi-transparent, the pixel behind would have to be corrupted also.  

From my book: I Met 3 Ghosts of Christmas Past During "A Christmas Carol"

In my book, "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead," there's a chapter about my experiences at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C. when I attended a performance of "A Christmas Carol."  
    There are four ghosts in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," and I met three other ghosts on my visit! 
     All three of them were actors from the 1800s, and one was famous. Well infamous! 
     Two were men, and one didn't give me much information but the other was bold, arrogant and loud. That was the ghost of John Wilkes Booth. What is odd is that his ghost wasn't inside the actual theatre, he was lingering in the gift shop. I also confirmed with employees in the gift shop that they have dealt with many  odd and unexplained happenings. 
   In the chapter you'll read how two other mediums visited the theater and also ran into Booth's ghost and confirmed his messages and attitude.   
    The actress that appeared to me provided me with a mental image of her watching the the coffin containing President Lincoln's body as it was driven through the city of Washington, DC on a horse-drawn dark carriage. She showed me what was on the top of it. It was not a U.S. Flag which I would have assumed. So, when I did research I learned that what the ghost showed me was exactly what the coffin was covered with!    
Yes, Ford's Theatre is definitely haunted.

My Mom gives me 2 Signs Today!

Tropical Storm Norma Formed today in the Eastern Pacific

 For those of you who don't know I'm a meteorologist and I work on hurricanes/tropical cyclones on
my day job. Today, I got a nice big "Hello" from my mother, Norma (who passed in Dec. 2013). Tropical Storm Norma just formed quickly today off the coast of western Mexico, and she's going to have a VERY strong personality (will become a hurricane), like my mom. You never know when you'll get a sign!  
     AND I got a second sign JUST as I was sitting down to write about it. I'm listening to Pandora radio, and one of her all time favorite songs just started playing: "It Might Be You" by Stephen Bishop (from the Movie "Tootsie", thus the video below) 
   It brought a happy tear to my eyes, hearing from Mom today. 
  Spirits are all around us. You just need to look for the signs.

How a Ghost Makes Us "Feel" Sensations (through our Nervous System)

In the previous blog, I explained how a ghost creates cold spots and it's all about energy. As beings of energy, ghosts can also make us feel sensations since our nerves transmit electrical impulses to our body to help us move and feel.

The basic functioning of the nervous system depends a lot on tiny cells called neurons. The brain has billions of them, and they have many specialized jobs. For example, sensory neurons take information from the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and skin to the brain.

As energy entities, ghosts who touch us or come near us can add their energy into our nervous system (unwittingly on their part). That extra "charge" may create dizziness, a feeling of being shocked, chilled, squeezed or feel like someone is around.

Here's an email I received from Melissa who experienced a cold spot when she was property hunting:

I once walked into a building that I and my former husband were considering purchasing  to convert into a home. 

I'd only gotten to the middle of the second room on the first floor when I started having some rather strange symptoms. I stopped in my tracks..

I felt like my whole body was being squeezed, had pressure on it, felt light headed and an emotional over all bad feeling.

 I looked at my husband, two sons and real estate agent and said,"I don't know what happened here,but I have to go"! 

They all looked surprised and bewildered. 


WHY MELISSA EXPERIENCED THE FEELING - 
It seems that Melissa was in the presence of a ghost who was living in the building. Usually, ghosts just want to let us know that they're around and ask us for help to cross them over. 

FOR A CLOSER LOOK AT THE SCIENCE: The dendrites, or "tentacles," of a neuron pick up an electrical nerve impulse and conduct it toward the soma, or cell body. The nerve impulse travels through the soma and is then conducted down a threadlike fiber called the axon. At the end of the axon, the impulse travels over a gap called a synapse to reach the dendrites of the next cell.

Bird Comforts Grieving Mother as She Visits Late Son's Grave

Son's spirit sends a Robin to his mom

Whenever I give talks about how our loved ones in spirit communicate, one of the ways is to
influence birds, butterflies, dragonflies, etc. or some creature in nature to behave oddly around us on an important date relative to the person in spirit, or the living person. Such was Exactly the case with this mother in the U.K. who visited the grave of her son. Bird Comforts Grieving Mother as She Visits Late Son's Grave on Anniversary of His Death

A tiny bird seemed to hear a grieving mother’s cries when it offered her comfort on the anniversary of her son’s death.

Marie Robinson, of England, posted a video on Facebook of a robin landing on top of her son Jack’s gravestone.

Moments later, Robinson held up her hand and the bird landed on her fingers.

"It brought me to tears," she wrote on Facebook. "Taking it as a sign from Jack."

Robinson also posted a photo of the same bird landing on her shoe.

She wrote on Facebook in an earlier post that Jack passed away from brain cancer when he was 4 years old, and Robinson had visited last week on the third anniversary of his death.

"[Three] years ago today I was totally numb at losing my little Jack," she wrote in a Facebook post shared on April 1. "And [three] years on I’m still numb on this day. Today will be hard."

Although she continues to grieve Jack's death, she said she hopes the video of her encounter with the bird going viral will raise awareness for childhood cancers.

Spirits Give Signs in Times of Stress

 Spirits have a way of giving us signs to let us know they're around in times of stress or uncertainty. Just look for the signs. Here's an example of a sign I got from my dog Sprite who passed, and how it alleviated my fear of heights at the perfect time.

On July 8, 2013 we said a sad goodbye to our 16 1/2 year old dachshund Sprite. The week that Sprite passed, a yellow and black butterfly followed us around daily. Friends who read about Sprite's butterfly encountered the same kind of butterfly right after reading about it.

Two years later, when my husband and I were on vacation we went to a park with zip lines (because he's always wanted to do that).  I'm afraid of heights, (so I was stressed!)  but didn't mind trying it (that's what you do when you care with someone). There were 2 Zip Line routes, each with 7 zip lines. I think they were both about 150 feet off the ground.  

As we were going up the first Zip Line tower, I  was dealing with anxiety from my fear of heights. As we got to the top of the (open faced stairs) and to the tower platform, suddenly a yellow and black butterfly flew around my feet and lingered for a short time. I KNEW it was Sprite and I heard "don't worry daddy, I'm here to protect you." That gave me the courage to do all of the zip lining.

 What's odd is that it was the ONLY yellow and black butterfly we saw the entire day. All of the other butterflies were blue with black outlines on the wings, and one orange butterfly. There is no such thing as a coincidence.  This was a message from Sprite when I needed to hear it.

That's what spirits do. They send us signs to comfort us when we need it. We just need to be aware of what they are. (That's why I wrote the books "Ghosts and Spirits," "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead," and the 2 Pets and the Afterlife books. )
