One of the interesting things about ghosts (Earth bound) and Spirits (who have crossed over) is that they can speak to one person only in a crowded room.
That's because they intend for their message to be heard for that specific person - just as we do when we're alive, we want our discussions with one person! Recently, a woman named Bridget was inspired to put her recorder on (from her phone) while she was at a park, trying to decide what to say at her mom's service. She said she didn't know why she hit "audio record" on her phone (Spirit influenced her)... and then she heard a very soft
whisper that says clearly “ Mom and dad “ then a second later *very faintly) says “love you .”
SO, if you heard something and someone next to you didn't (while you're on a paranormal investigation or just in a room with other people), it's because spirit wanted you to. That message was meant for YOU.
It often works that way on paranormal investigations, too.
There can be three people with digital recorders and only one picks up a voice from a ghost (or spirit).

Welcome to our haunted world!
People
who have passed and crossed over become spirits. Those who choose to
stay behind on Earth are ghosts. Spirits have the ability to to come to
people anywhere in the world, and even come to multiple people at the
same time. Whenever the Holidays roll around, they are known to try and
pass messages that they're there with the family as well. Just be aware
of it.
- Look for pennies or other coins on the ground. Check the year, too-
because it has some significance. I was out walking our dogs
and found a Quarter with the year 1981 on it. That was the year my
grandmother passed, so guess who dropped that coin for me? Thanks, Nana.
- One Thanksgiving, my friend Lynn's brother Michael came to me with
messages for her. He told me things I had no idea about, including that
they had the same eye color. SO, be vigilant and don't dismiss
happenings- our loved ones DO come back during the holidays to say
"Merry Christmas" or "Happy Hanukkah." Just be aware that they're around
you, too, even if you Don't get see or hear any signs.
Happy Holidays to you and your family!
Rob Gutro
QUESTION: When do spirits come to us? ANSWER: When they have something to tell us. One of those times
are usually around holidays, birthdays or anniversaries. Spirits
maintain their memories and their personalities when they pass, so,
yes, they'll remember your birthday and they'll visit on the holidays. REPOSTING FROM PREVIOUS BLOG: ANOTHER EXAMPLE
In fact, recently a week before my birthday I got a wonderful
surprise visit from my late Dad, to wish me a happy birthday. After my
other half went to work (early), I crawled back into bed and put our
three dogs on the bed (one is large). We napped for about 20 minutes,
and then I heard my father's voice call my name from what sounded like
the kitchen! All three dogs immediately picked up their heads and
looked up, and I responded "yes, I'm here!" (of course, I realized in a
second that it was my dad, and no one else was home).
What's cool is that all three dogs ALSO heard him! I also figured out
that the reason Dad came to say hello was because my birthday was
within a week. Spirits often recognize birthdays and anniversaries!

Here's a fascinating story from Realtor.com about paranormal experiences in the White House. There have been quite a few ghosts sighted in the White House... unfortunately, it's not open for a paranormal investigation, but you can read about the ghostly sightings in this great article.
Is the White House Haunted? 8 Presidents Say Yes—Here's Proof
One night in the 1940s, according to a well-known story, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill was
kicking back at the White House. He had just emerged from a hot bath to
stroll into the adjoining bedroom, naked and smoking a cigar. But it
turned out he had a surprise visitor, leaning against the fireplace
mantel: Abraham Lincoln, or rather his ghost. Churchill
didn't miss a beat. Tapping the ash off his cigar, he said, "Good
evening, Mr. President. You seem to have me at a disadvantage."
Lincoln smiled, then disappeared. Churchill—who didn't rattle easily—nonetheless refused to sleep in that bedroom ever again.
In fact, according to a Washington Post interview with Jared Broach,
who offers tours of haunted areas across the country—including a
Washington, DC, pub crawl past the White House—“The White House has the
best ghost stories, and I’d call them the most verified."
After
all, as Broach points out, if the whole ghosts-in-the-White House
thing was truly a bunch of malarkey, "I’d be calling about eight
different presidents liars.”
Good point. So, even if you think all this spirit talk is pure smoke and mirrors, these well-documented White House ghosts below might make you think twice.
Andrew Jackson
President
Jackson has been heard in the White House since the 1860s, with
staffers and first families claiming to hear him stomping around,
swearing, and letting loose his signature guttural laugh.
Thomas Jefferson
In the 1860s, President Jefferson was heard playing his violin in the Yellow Oval Room, prompting President Lincoln's wife, Mary Todd, to once marvel to a friend, “My, my, how that Mr. Jefferson does play that violin.”
Abigail Adams
The wife ofthe nation's second president, John Adams, wasthe first first lady to live in the White House. Abigail Adams used
the East Room to dry sheets. Since her death in 1818, numerous
residents and staffers claim to have seen her walking around with her
arms outstretched, as if carrying clean linens. Forever doing
laundry—what a harsh fate.
David Burns
In 1791, this
guy sold the government most of the land on which the White House and
the entire city of Washington, DC, now sits. Since then, his voice has
been heard by a guard and a valet in the Oval Office, saying, “I’m Mr.
Buuuuurns.”
Willie Lincoln
President Lincoln isn't the only one in his family haunting the White House. Lincoln's son Willie—whodied
in the White House at the age of 11, most likely from typhoid fever—was
reportedly seen not only by his parents but also by staff of the Grant
administration in the 1870s.
Annie Surratt
In 1865, Mary Surratt was convicted of conspiring to assassinate President Lincoln, and sentenced to death. Her daughter Annie pleaded
repeatedly for her mother's life—and, even after Mary was hanged and
Annie was long gone, Annie's ghost reportedly continues to knock on
doors throughout the White House, pleading for her mother's release.
Abraham Lincoln
But
back to the most famous White House ghost: Lincoln, who's also known as
"the White House Ghost" and has been spotted by the likes of President Theodore Roosevelt and first lady Grace Coolidge. Most famously, Queen Wilhelmina
of the Netherlands, who was sleeping in the Lincoln Bedroom, heard a
knock and opened the door to see him standing there in a top hat and
coat. She immediately fainted.
And in case you're thinking all
these spiritual sightings are ancient history, there's some evidence
that Lincoln's ghost was still kicking around as recently as the Reagan
administration: White House curator Rex Scouten recalls how Ronald Reagan's dog would enter any room in the White House except the Lincoln Bedroom.
“He’d just stand outside the door and bark,” Scouten told the Washington Post.
Weird, huh?
So
what might these White House ghosts want? In Lincoln's case at
least, Broach explains one popular theory: “They say Lincoln always
comes back whenever he feels the country is in need or in peril."
Now we're just wondering: Has anyone seen Lincoln's ghost of late?

Here's a question I received recently about ashes.
QUESTION: My Dad recently
passed away Aug 5th 2018.. My sister and I want to keep some of his
ashes and spread the rest in the ocean where he loved to be. Will our
Dad be at peace if we keep some of his ashes? Can they be separated?
ANSWER: Yes,
the ashes can be separated. They really are just remnants of your dad-
and your dad's spirit is alive and well. Often people in their wills ask
for their ashes to be spread in different places they liked. In
spirit, it really doesn't matter to them where the ashes go- because
their spirit will be around you.

IAs an author and a medium I think it's important that you hear how others feel after I talk with them, or they read my books.
Below are four more new Amazon.com reviews of how my books "Pets and the Afterlife" and "Pets and the Afterlife 2" books have helped them through their grief, by showing them how their pets are still giving them signs from the other side.
The books are available on Amazon.com in E-book and paperback. - Rob Gutro
I have read books 1 and 2 . Reading both books had
helped me to cope with the loss and had changed my outlook about life
and pets and the afterlife. Rob was also very helpful in relaying
messages from my son who had crossed over.
Great read. Helped me greatly with my grief after
recently losing my beloved pet. Great tool for understanding the signs
from your pet after they have crossed over.

My latest book is called "Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation" (by Rob Gutro) and conveys
all of the ghosts I met as I traveled throughout England. There are a LOT more ghosts in England that I did not (yet) meet, and this story from the East Anglian Daily Times provides an interesting story about a ghost in Suffolk, U.K. - Rob
Weird Suffolk, U.K.: “The Great Troubler” of Walberswick
WEIRD SUFFOLK: Lodge Road, Walberswick Picture: SARAH LUCY BROWN
Many claim that Walberswick is the most haunted village in not only
Suffolk, but England – even author George Orwell had his own tale to
tell about this coastal corner of the county when he spied a spectre in
the churchyard.
But today’s story doesn’t involve ghosts in the
churchyard or Black Shuck the devil dog, or even the famous Walberswick
Whistle which haunts the very air of the village: today we tell the tale
of John Brooke, better known to those who knew him as The Great
Troubler.
Close to the outskirts of the village is
Westwood Lodge, a building which dates back to the 16th century on a
site which has been used as a dwelling site for a further two centuries.
In 1391, the Manor of Westwood belonged to the Duke of Suffolk, Michael
de la Pole and since then it has welcomed many other families,
including the Hoptons, the Blois and the Brookes, who lived in the manor
in the early 1600s.
John Brooke was a wild, difficult man who could not stop himself from
meddling in local affairs, including enclosing the common land near the
manor house. Additionally, he was a tyrannical master who treated those
in his employ with bitter cruelty, including his faithful horse.
No one was distraught, therefore, when in 1652, aged just 26, Brooke The Great Troubler, met his maker.
He
had set off to Blythburgh to pass judgement on some unfortunates in
court when he experienced a sharp pain – but, unwilling to delay his
journey and keen to continue to court, he carried on his journey: “I’ll
get to Blythburgh or die trying!” he exclaimed.
And indeed, John Brooke did die trying.
His
young widow Jane married Sir William Blois and Westwood Manor remained
in the possession of the Blois family until fairly recent times – it
was, some believed, a decision which infuriated an already angry man
from beyond the grave.
John Brooke’s spirit was said to ride
furiously up and down the corridors of the manor house, creating such
terror that the inner room to the master bedroom, which is where the
hauntings were said to begin, was bricked up.
In 1865, when
alterations to the manor led to it being opened up, it was said that
workmen found just two objects: a saddle and a whip, both of which were
burned with great ceremony and to great effect: the hauntings ended.
The
East Anglian Magazine in 1961 also recalled a tale of ghostly footsteps
and the spectral figure of a woman in a silk dress in the, both of
which were reported by a Mrs Browne, the wife of a farmer living at the
lodge, who reported hearing the ghostly pacing in the oldest part of the
house at night, but said they were even more pronounced at noon.
A
gardener at Westwood Lodge also told a similar tale: “We see’d a woman
with a silk dress on, that’s what we see’d. My mother see’d it often. We
lived over the dairy, me mother an’ me, and she see’d the ghost come
out of Mrs. Cooper’s study…” (a tenant farmer named Cooper is listed in
Whites Directory of Suffolk, 1844).”
In October, 1972, three
policemen held an all-night vigil on the premises, having been told that
“a lady in a long silver dress” had been seen numerous times over six
decades, both in the grounds and on the track outside.
According
to the policemen, at 1.20am, a length of cotton which had been taped
across the entrance hall was found to have been dislodged and dull thuds
were heard deep inside the house before a sudden drop in temperature
and a feeling of electricity in the air. Although the men reported
feeling as if they were being watched, they saw nothing, despite hearing
several more dull thuds. They left at 4am.
In a follow-up letter
in The Lantern, Robert Collins said he had been at the investigation
with the policeman, which had been recorded: “Regarding the reported
tape-recording, I heard this the following day and was present when P.C.
Lincoln made it,” he wrote.
“Unfortunately there were some rather
obscene words as P.C. Evans fell over and the noises occurred as these
took place, hence the reluctance to publicise it. P.C. Evans and I went
along to the lodge, to be very truthful, for the fun of it, but I don’t
mind telling you it was one of the most terrifying experiences I’ve ever
had in my life!”
