I recently enjoyed reading a great book written about many local haunts in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. A friend of mine picked me up a copy of "Vineyard Supernatural" by Holly Mascott Nadler and it's a must-read. It's wonderfully written and very engaging, and will take you to many places on Martha's Vineyard where hauntings occur often. The author is a resident who also owns a bookstore and does ghost walks, so she's very familiar with the local "haunts." Whether you've been to the island or not, there are so many ghosts there, that you'll find this fascinating.

Here's a house I wouldn't want to live in... but you might, if you like a fright! The home from ‘Amityville Horror’ located at 108 Ocean Ave, Amityville, NY, went on the market in June 2016 for $850,000 and as of January 2017, the sale is pending. In May 2010, when it was previously on the market, the price was 1.15 million dollars, so the house has seen a huge drop in price over the last 6 1/2 years. Currently listed for $850,000, the five-bedroom, three-bathroom Long
Island home at 108 Ocean Ave. is up for sale through Coldwell Banker
Harbor Light owner and broker Jerry O’Neil.
“I’m very familiar with the house,” he told the Daily News. “A friend
of mine from high school, his family owned it. I spent a lot of time in
this house as a kid. It’s a beautiful home.”
The broker added that he does not know what to expect regarding how
long it will take to sell the home, which was built in 1927. Get out! No, really, Amityville Horror house sold
“Real estate is a very fickle product,” he said. “Sometimes you’re disappointed, sometimes you’re pleasantly surprised.”
O’Neil, whose brother also owned the home on the Amityville River at
one point after the murders, had no reservations about accepting the
listing and is taking extra steps to make sure only serious buyers get
to step foot in the house and take a tour.“Buyers are going to see this only through brokers,” he said.
The application, which O’Neill’s office will have to approve three to
five days before the desired date of the viewing, states that anyone
interested in seeing the listing must be financially pre-qualified and
have proof of “funds.”

Caroline D’Antonio, who bought the house in 2010 for $950,000 though at
one point it was listed for more than $1 million, is selling it because
her husband died last year and she wants to downsize.
She has already purchased a condo on a different part of Long Island.
The official listing for 108 Ocean Ave. simply describes the home as a
“Stately center hall colonial on Amityville River,” adding that the
house deed includes a “large” boat house, two car garage and a boat
slip.

Recently
I received an email about some serious issues occurring in a home where
there appears to be an Earth-bound ghost. As I discuss in my books "Ghosts and Spirits" and "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead" if you have an Earthbound ghost in your home they emanate negative emotional energy- causing the living to argue, have anxiety, fear, depression, and impatience. That in turn energizes a ghost, so it's a vicious cycle that needs to be broken by crossing the ghost over.
Since many people have
this issue so I thought I would share the advice on how to clear your
home. - Rob
3) light white candles to invite light and positive energy
4) play soft instrumental music (you can find a relaxation channel on pandora.com for free)
5) TOSS out any objects that you think may have negative energy
6) Clean the house and remove clutter. clutter invites negativity
7) Tell the entities that this is YOUR HOME. They do NOT belong there and are not welcome. They should cross into the light
to be with their loved ones, they do not belong here.
- You can send them to a funeral home or hospital nearby
8) At night, picture yourself and your family surrounded by white light of protection.
9) Bring in a paranormal team with mediums who can help clear your house.
10) Get sage and either light it to emit smoke, or get it in a spray and spray it in every room.
MORE ADVICE FROM RUTHIE LARKIN, THE BEANTOWN MEDIUM: In
addition to what Rob said, I would also purchase a few Himalayan Salt
Lamps that you can pick up at a Home Goods store for $20 - $30 each.
Leave them on and place them around your home where your family usually
spends the most time. I would also put a few sprinkles of Himalayan Salt
between all your windows and the screens to keep negative energy from
entering your home. If you live in a house you can also surround your
home with a thin line of corn meal. This is a North American Indian way
to smudge and is very powerful. How old is your grandson? If he is an
adolescent or teen the negative energy could become more intense. I
would definitely agree with Rob in saying that all members of the family
currently living and regularly visiting your home need to be assessed
by a Psychic Medium while in your home and then your entire home needs
to be cleared. There are also many Shamans who could perform this
cleansing for you…be sure to get referrals.

One question that I get often is "Do dogs or cats (or any pets) reincarnate?"
ANSWER: Yes, every living thing reincarnates. All living things
including people and animals reincarnate. Every living thing has a soul,
which is basically, the energy within, plus memories, personalities and
knowledge.
However, they typically all wait to come back until everyone they know in this life has crossed over.
I've
heard from some pet parents who lost a dog or a cat who have said after
their pet passed away, they adopted another dog or cat, and that new pet shows some of the same habits that their pet who passed had!
So, people have wondered if their dog or cat had been reincarnated. The
answer to that is "no." What's happening is that the spirit of their
late pet comes back and trains the new pet with some of the habits they
had during their time on Earth. That doesn't mean that the newly
adopted pet is taught the "good" habits!
For example,
if your newly adopted dog turns over their food bowl when hungry, and
your previous dog did that, your dog in spirit has likely taught the new
dog to do that.

You can find haunted places all across America. Some of the best come from the older sites, places where you feel history and decay, some of them come from historic tragedies or tragic lives, and others come with a sprinkle of stardust. Like any other city, Los Angeles has its fair share of haunted houses and locations.
As someone who grew up on black and white horror movies, you might imagine that moving to LA was a dream come true. The most exciting thing of all, was to see the lots and locations where Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi strut their stuff. This meant the first place I went to was Karloff’s Rose Garden on Bowmont Drive.
The most iconic of Frankenstein’s monster actors, as well as playing Frankenstein himself, and the Mummy, Karloff was also a keen gardener. His rose garden was so beautiful several friends asked to have their ashes scattered there. He duly obliged and created one of the most peaceful yet haunted places in the city. This is not the only haunted place in LA though it is my personal favorite. Also check out the Linda Vista Hotel, the Silent Movie Theater, the Wax Museum and many other the most haunted places in Los Angeles.

Spirits have a way of giving us signs to let us know they're around in times of stress or uncertainty. Just look for the signs. Here's an example of a sign I got from my dog Sprite who passed, and how it alleviated my fear of heights at the perfect time.

On July 8, 2013 we said a sad goodbye to our 16 1/2 year old
dachshund Sprite. The week that Sprite passed, a yellow and black
butterfly followed us around daily. Friends who read about Sprite's
butterfly encountered the same kind of butterfly right after reading
about it.
Two years later, when my husband and I were on vacation we went to a park with zip lines (because he's always wanted to do that). I'm afraid of heights, (so I was stressed!) but didn't mind trying it (that's what you do when you care with someone). There were 2 Zip
Line routes, each with 7 zip lines. I think they were both about 150 feet
off the ground.
As we were going up the first Zip Line tower, I was
dealing with anxiety from my fear of heights. As we got to the top of
the (open faced stairs) and to the tower platform, suddenly a yellow
and black butterfly flew around my feet and lingered for a short time. I
KNEW it was Sprite and I heard "don't worry daddy, I'm here to protect
you." That gave me the courage to do all of the zip lining.
What's odd is that it was the ONLY yellow and black butterfly we saw the
entire day. All of the other butterflies were blue with black outlines
on the wings, and one orange butterfly. There is no such thing as a
coincidence. This was a message from Sprite when I needed to hear it.
That's what spirits do. They send us signs to comfort us when we need it. We just need to be aware of what they are. (That's why I wrote the books "Ghosts and Spirits," "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead," and the 2 Pets and the Afterlife books. )

Our loved ones always let us know they're around during the holidays and the can do it in many different ways, from dropping a coin, to a favorite song. This one was unique. On Dec. 12th, I got a "wake up call" from my parents in spirit to ensure that I wasn't late for work.
That morning after sending my other half off to work at 5am, I went back to bed and put our dogs up on the bed with me. For some reason, I had deactivated my alarm that usually wakes me again at 6 a.m. to start my day.
At 7:07 a.m. I was awakened out of a sound sleep by three loud
knocks on what sounded like the bedroom door or wall!
The second I woke up, I
immediately thought it was my parents standing there.
- A quick run to
the door and look outside - and there was no one around. So mom
and dad were visiting for Christmas.
If you're suddenly awakened and you're thinking about someone who passed, whether person or pet, then that's who woke you up.

The Earth has turned another year old. It's been around 4.543 billion years, but mankind has only been around a tiny fraction of that, yet we've made such an impact on all life. Now that we've arrived in the year 2017 C.E. (Common Era) or A.D., we've got another chance to be better than last year. That's what spirits want us to do. Be better people. WHAT SPIRITS WANT US TO KNOW - As I wrote in my book "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead," many spirits have given messages urging their loved ones and everyone to treat everyone equally, help others, welcome others, discard fear, to not hate people who are different from them, to accept everyone regardless of what religion or non-religion they are, to accept people of all colors, nationalities, sexualities, race, or gender. Everyone is EQUAL. Everyone deserves peace, love and happiness.
SOME WAYS TO IMPROVE YOURSELF - If you think you're racist (and you know if you are), try to make friends with a person of color. If you're homophobic, befriend a gay person (although you likely already have one in your circle of friends and don't know it). Be KIND and look at the world from someone else's perspective.
SPIRITS GET IRRITATED WITH BAD BEHAVIOR - Spirits get irritated and extremely disappointed in people when they use their religions to divide, spread intolerance and hatred. Spirits are disgusted with the way some people mistreat children, animals, gay people, minorities, women, spouses or partners. There is NO excuse for being hateful, and spirits warn the living that if they are, they may very likely find themselves trapped on Earth for all eternity as an Earth-bound ghost - unable to communicate with their loved ones in spirit. HATRED & BAD BEHAVIOR LEAVES YOU TRAPPED IN THE AFTERLIFE- Being a ghost is like being in an isolation prison cell where no one can hear you or help you unless you fortunate enough to encounter a medium who will take pity on you and help you cross over to join your loved ones in spirit. THE NEW YEAR'S MESSAGE - SO, a word of caution going into 2017 - TREAT EVERYONE EQUALLY.. Don't hate, discriminate, mentally or physically abuse. Don't abandon or mis-treat anyone including animals. (People who abuse or abandon animals will likely find themselves Earthbound after their die). If you think your religion tells you to hate people who are of other races, who are gay or of other religions, then there's something WRONG with your religion. (I have 2 neighbors who treat me and others like dirt because of their religion. I pity them). BE A HERO TO EVERYONE - including and especially strangers. We all love reading good news stories about gestures of kindness. Be that person who extends kindness to all. I'll end with a quote that sums up how spirits want us to be: "Be the person your dog thinks you are."
