Horses: Ghosts and Spirits Part 3: Secretariat's Ghost? or Spirit?

Today's blog is part 3 in a series about experiences horses had with ghosts or spirits. Animals have the ability to see Earthbound ghosts and spirits (whom crossed over and come back and visit).  Today's blog is about a story shared from a woman who read a story of a famous horse, that apparently visits his homestead. >

WHO WAS SECRETARIAT? Secretariat was a legendary thoroughbred racehorse whose name reigns supreme in the history of racing. The stallion with a chestnut coat, three white “socks” and cocky demeanor not only became the first horse in 25 years to win the Triple Crown in 1973.

QUESTION FROM SJ (A blog reader): "Have you ever heard the story about the famous Secretariat's ghost? I read about it online ages ago and I wish I'd kept the link! It's been claimed that at dusk people have heard the thundering hooves of a very fast horse at the Meadow Farm in Virginia (Secretariat's home/birthplace). I never got to see Secretariat race... I'd love to hear his spirit pound the dirt!"

MY TAKE ON THE STORY: I've never heard of a the ghost of Secretariat, but it could be a local legend. I've also been unable to find a reference to the story on-line.  My thought is that it's likely the SPIRIT of Secretariat, coming back to visit his childhood home. Ghosts are usually people or pets that stay behind because of unfinished business. Secretariat achieved more than most horses throughout history, so I don't see that as plausible. However, spirits do come back to visit places they grew up in, or loved to go. If Secretariat was seen running in the farm he was born, I'm sure it's his spirit (and he isn't an Earth bound ghost).

VISITING SECRETARIAT'S BIRTHPLACE The Meadow Event Park, formerly Meadow Stable, is the site where Secretariat was born, raised and first trained. According to the website, educational signage is posted at the historic barns and other points of interest. There are tours of the park and it features a look at the original yearling and stallion barns built in the 1930s. This includes the stall in the yearling barn where Secretariat stayed as a colt in 1971. Also on the tour is Secretariat’s foaling shed where he was born on March 30, 1970. Though it was moved from its original location on the north side, it is the same structure and is listed on the state and national historic registers.

BURIAL PLACE: Secretariat is buried in Kentucky.  Secretariat’s grave at Claiborne Farm in Paris, just outside Lexington.

Horses See Ghosts and Spirits: Part 2

Today's blog is part 2 in a series about experiences horses had with ghosts or spirits. Animals have the ability to see Earthbound ghosts and spirits (whom crossed over and come back and visit).  Today's blog is about a story shared from a woman who has horses and her horse appears to see the ghost of a horseman who lived on her land. Here's the story.

Kelly told me, "I know my horse sees the long deceased horseman from our Club area. The man is buried on the hill above left of our parcel of land. There's an indoor arena there, and it happens at night or at dusk when I am leading him in or out of the indoor arena. It is always after I have shut off the lights off.  My horse jumps out of his skin about 90% of the time so I know he sees something."

Dogs, cats and horses can also hear at higher decibel ranges. Spirit and ghosts are known to speak at frequencies that are inaudible to the human ear. Paranormal investigators use digital recorders pick up those sounds and voices.

Further, they have different cones and rods in their eyes than humans, that enable them to better sense motion. If you want to know more about the vision of horses, I suggest visiting: https://www.thesprucepets.com/understanding-how-your-horse-sees-1887324

Horses Can See Ghosts and Spirits: Part 1 - Africa Lore

Today's blog is part 1 in a series about experiences horses had with ghosts or spirits. Animals have the ability to see Earthbound ghosts and spirits (whom crossed over and come back and viisit). Today's blog is about a story shared from a gentleman from Africa about his experience>

During a lecture I gave several years ago, a gentleman who had moved from the African Continent to the U.S. told me that in his homeland it is widely known that horses can see Earth-bound ghosts and spirits (who have crossed). The man (whose named escaped me) said that in his The gentlemen proceeded to tell me more about the African belief. He said that it's known that when a horse sees a ghost or spirit, you can look directly in their eyes and see the ghost that they are looking at. Fascinating!

If you missed this amazing 3 hour YouTube episode of Paranormal Soup, you can watch it here.  Jason Bland, host of Paranormal Soup Radio welcomed back Rob Gutro to talk about his new book Pets and the Afterlife 3: Dog Spirits. It was a fantastic and fascinating conversation that covered so many aspects of spirit and ghost communication regarding pets. It originally aired on Sunday/Mon. Feb. 21-22 11:30 pm EST to 2 am EST Here is the video! VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/oiVHvArhs4E

Learn about the Haunted Old Yellow House and More in "Case Files of Inspired Ghost Tracking"

A new book called "Case Files of Inspired Ghost Tracking," by best-selling paranormal author Rob Gutro takes readers on paranormal investigations into private and historic homes where ghosts were traumatizing families.
Learn about the Old Yellow House, a haunted childhood home of IGT founder Margaret Erhlich, and how the ghosts inspired her to form the paranormal team many years later that brought the team into many strange situations.
Rob, a medium in the Inspired Ghost Tracking paranormal group, announced the release of his seventh paranormal book that brings readers along on investigations and reveals some bizarre and shocking things the group found and how they helped the ghosts and families.

"When earthbound ghosts have traumatized families in their own homes, Inspired Ghost Tracking (IGT) of Maryland has gone in to cross them over," Gutro said. "Every case is different, too. Some have had earthbound ghosts that were friendly, others were not. IGT experienced a lot of bad energies that caused people to become physically sick or mentally traumatized. IGT investigators had to figure who, what, when and why things were happening, to finally bring peace to the living and the dead."

In this collection of IGT cases, you’ll read about the "Burned Ghost," ghosts of two different time periods in one home, dark things that Ouija boards brought into homes, a very haunted Maryland mansion, many ghosts of Baltimore’s Federal Hill, a ghostly attachment, a Steelworker’s ghost, poltergeist activity, the famous IGT “Double Murder Ghost Investigation” and many more.

You'll find answers to questions like why ghosts choose to stay in a place, the differences and similarities between ghosts and spirits, why energy is the key to the paranormal and much more.

Although Rob has become known as a "Pet Medium" through the success of his best-selling books "Pets and the Afterlife" and "Pets and the Afterlife 2," he also connects with human earthbound ghosts and spirits.

Gutro is the first in the paranormal field to make the distinction between earthbound ghosts and spirits who have crossed over. Rob has three books about his experience with human ghosts and spirits, called "Ghosts and Spirits," "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead," and "Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation," and most recently, "Kindred Spirits: How a Medium Befriended a Spirit."

Rob Gutro has been featured in the Washington Post and nationally syndicated radio programs like "Coast to Coast AM." Rob is a volunteer with Dachshund and Weimaraner rescues and gives fundraising lectures for animal rescues around the U.S., teaching grieving pet parents how pets communicate from the afterlife.

A Review I Like: from Podcast Host and Film Producer Bob Heske (Afraid of Nothing)

Here's a review of my Pets and the Afterlife 3 book  from Bob Heske, famous film producer
and paranormal podcaster of the "Afraid of Nothing" series:

Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2021
I may be biased, but Pets in the Afterlife 3 could be the best in the series.

2020 was a tough year for us all, and especially for Rob Gutro who suffered the loss of two canine children - a presidential Dachshund called Franklin and a warm Weimaraner named Dolly. As was the case with the first pup Rob lost named "Buzz" over 15 years ago, both of these beloved pets reappeared with messages for Rob and his husband Tom. Those two chapters are perhaps the most amazing and uncanny in the book - but there's lots more, including a section on how to deal with grief and a plethora of inspirational stories of dogs in the afterlife. If you've lost a pet, he or she is there speaking to you, if only you know how to listen. A must read or gift for anyone who has lost a four-legged friend.

16 Years Ago Today: Here's How My Dog Buzz Changed the World

Today, February 22nd, is the anniversary of the tragic day my Weimaraner puppy, Buzz, was tragically killed by a car at 7 months old. But like everyone, we all have a purpose, and Buzz, through his continual messages and signs from the afterlife, taught me how pets communicate from the other side. Buzz changed the world. Today's blog explains how he did just that.

Buzz's signs from moving objects, to the sounds of his feet walking around the house after his passing, to jingling a collar, visibly appearing, leading me and others to look-alikes, and even using music as signs helped open my abilities to communicate with pets on the other side. Buzz also inspired me to write my first book "Ghosts and Spirits" which has an entire chapter devoted to those many first signs.

Since he passed in 2005, and since the first book came out in 2010, and I was inspired to write "Pets and the Afterlife (1)" that published in 2014, I've heard from thousands of pet parents around the world. I've provided thousands of messages from pets in the afterlife. Thanks to Buzz, I've been able to offer understanding how pets communicate from the other side, and help people through their loss and grief.

Since then, I've published 2 more books in the series, "Pets and the Afterlife 2" and "Pets and the Afterlife 3: Messages from Spirit Dogs."  They've all attained "Best seller status on Amazon, so I know they're reaching people and hopefully bringing comfort.

I'm writing this today, because today marks 16 years since Buzz left me physically, but he continues to be around in spirit. You'll see Buzz's photo on the front cover of Pets and the Afterlife (1). Like your pets in spirit, he's always around, and it doesn't matter how long he's been physically gone. He's still here.

Paranormal Q and A: Are you in contact with your dad in spirit?

People ask me things all the time, and I love answering questions based on my experience. Here's this week's question:  Are you in contact with your dad's spirit?

ANSWER: Yes. I have heard from my mom and dad pretty regularly, like maybe once every couple of months. But they taught me that communications from each of them is really personality driven (the way they were in life). I'll explain in today's blog.

(Photo: My dad's spirit comes through to me looking 40 years younger)

Also, it's important to know that if spirits don't provide a blunt sign, you may feel them around. If you feel one of your loved ones near you, then they are. You have to trust your feelings.

When my dad passed in 2008 I used to hear from him all the time. You can read about the many incredible signs from my dad in my book "Ghosts and Spirits." In fact, my dad helped me prove to my family that he is very much around and was at his own wake and funeral.

My dad also always comes through to me (telepathically usually) as he appeared in his 30s. He passed at 79 years old. The reason he appears younger is that all spirits choose to appear whenever they felt most comfortable in life.

On a related note,  we maintain our same personalities on the other side. That's important because it has a lot to do with spirit communication, especially if you have both parents or grandparents on the other side. For example, if you one of your parents did "most of the talking" and the other stayed quiet, the "talker" would come through more in messages from the other side.

My mom used to do all the talking and my dad would be quiet. That translated after my mom passed. Since my mom passed in 2013 he steps back and let's my mother do all the talking, just as he did in the physical world. It's pretty funny and pretty amazing.

Email Q&A About How I Planned my Trip in "Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation"

One of my favorite books that I've written is "Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation." It contains all of my unexpected paranormal experiences when I twice visited the country. Recently, JC asked me a good question about planning the trip, and whether I decided to stay open to ghosts on the trip.  Here's his email and my response>>

QUESTION:   JC said, In addition to your pets books and the reading on Winnie, I recently completed your Ghosts of England and enjoyed it tremendously. My question is did you decide before you went that you would stay open to paranormal experiences or do you not have control over the situations?

I would think that would be exhausting. Either way the book was an enjoyable read. I just know from visiting several of the same places if I were being contacted by spirits and or ghosts all the time, it would eventually tire me and discourage my traveling.

MY ANSWER:   Tom actually worked with  Anne Marie of Across the Pond Vacations to plan out our 2 trips to England. Being an amateur historian on the Tudor period, he provided Anne Marie with a number of places to visit, and she coordinated things around them.

Good question about deciding before. My answer is "no." I didn't even think of the paranormal when the trip was being planned. In fact, I had never been to England before and was focusing on the excitement of finally being in a European country (previously I had only been to Mexico and Canada).

Usually wherever I've gone in the U.S., I've been able to mostly blunt the communications from ghosts, but England was overloaded with them, all of whom  wanted to tell their stories or reach out.  Since they were from different times in history, they actually added to the history of the trip, so it wasn't a bad thing.  It was kind of like being on a tour group where a lot of people want to talk to you, but these people were actually conveying history. :)  So I looked at it as a double-benefit.
