Video: A Look at the Unfinished Part of Thornbury Castle (from my Ghosts of England book adventure)

In my newest book  Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation  by Rob Gutro,
I stayed at Thornbury Castle and there were several ghosts there!  This is a look at the part of the castle that was never finished (although it looks like it's in ruins, it isn't because construction halted when the owner died) thanks to Henry VIII.

ABOUT THORNBURY CASTLE:  Thornbury Castle is a castle in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire, England. This is short video scan of the outside of the castle. Inside, there was a ghost in the room where I stayed, and there was a ghost in the main section of the upstairs hallway. You''ll find both of those stories in my book "Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation" by Rob Gutro Construction began in 1511 as a home for Edward Stafford, 3rd Duke of Buckingham. It is not a true castle (designed to serve as a fortress), but rather an early example of a Tudor country house, with minimal defensive attributes. It is now a grade I listed building. The site was occupied by a manor house in 930. Part of the original plans for a very grand residence were "well advanced" before the duke was beheaded, in 1521, on the orders of his distant cousin Henry VIII, for alleged treason.

ABOUT "GHOSTS OF ENGLAND ON A MEDIUM'S VACATION by Rob Gutro:

What happens when a medium goes on vacation? Can a medium simply switch off their ability at will? Well…not exactly. Rob Gutro is a medium/author/paranormal investigator and a scientist who has written 4 books about his encounters with human and animal ghosts and spirits.
In this book, you will read about his experiences on two separate trips to the United Kingdom. England’s rich history and many epic battles have caused an over-abundance of residual emotional energy. Everywhere he traveled, he had a paranormal experience. He explored royal palaces and spent the night in haunted castles. He encountered the ghosts of historical figures including a queen, a prince, and a nobleman; and several ghosts even shared their pain of death experience with him. On one occasion, the doppelganger of a loved one provided directions when he became lost while driving in the countryside due to a malfunctioning GPS.
But not all of his encounters were of the human variety: there was also a very special visit from a canine ghost. This book is intended to be more than just a collection of personal ghost stories. In addition to relating my ghostly encounters, he has also included a short narrative history of the places where the experiences occurred. After all, knowing the history of a place is key to understanding why a ghost has decided to stay behind.
So, join Rob as he relates his encounters with the ghosts of England. Rob has written 4 other books about the paranormal, two about people (Ghosts and Spirits and Lessons Learned From Talking to the Dead) and 2 about pets (Pets and the Afterlife and Pets and the Afterlife 2). The books are available in paperback and e-book on Amazon.com.

Video: Ghostly Doorway at Thornbury Castle from my book 'Ghosts of England"

In my newest book Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation by Rob Gutro, I stayed at Thornbury Castle and there were several ghosts there! This is a look at the outside of giant wooden door to my bedroom- where I captured a photo of the ghost's orb (a rounded, multicolored ball of energy- a ghost in it's most simple form). I got the name of the ghost, and he gave me clues to his identity... which I figured out when I returned from vacation. Even the reason why he stayed behind and why in the castle. It's all in my book "Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation. "

Part 9: Haunted Devon, UK: Legend of Dewerstone Rock

My latest book is called "Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation" (by Rob Gutro) and conveys
all of the ghosts I met as I traveled throughout England. There are a LOT more ghosts in England that I  did not (yet) meet, and here is the Ninth  of several postings from Devonlive in Devon, U.K about some of them.. - Rob

The legend of Dewerstone Rock

The Dewerstone Rock near Bickleigh has sparked rumours of Satanic visitation for years.

People have reported seeing blue lights, and torch-lit processions on the paths around the rock, but claim they disappear at the sight of humans. Legend tells that a naked human was once spotted and where the human footprints ceased a cloven hoofprints continued. It is even rumoured that a farmer was handed the body of his baby son by the devil himself.

Tarot Tuesday: The 9 of Swords

Every Tuesday, my friend Joy Andreason provides "Tarot Tuesday" to give you some insight into
tarot meanings and the week. This week's card is the 9 of Swords.
Joy says: Anyone out there having trouble sleeping? Aside from dietary issues or other natural causes, sometimes we have so much on our minds that sleep eludes us.
It could be guilt, grief, or a slew of other issues that seem to come calling when we should be resting.
Spirit says it may be beneficial to cut yourself some slack. Don't try to be Superman (or woman) all the time. Allow yourself some time to just be. Say no to something if you have to. Allow yourself time to recharge.

POSITION OF THE CARD (from Biddytarot.com):
Upright: Anxiety, worry, fear, depression, nightmares
Reversed: Inner turmoil, deep-seated fears, secrets, releasing worry

CARD DESCRIPTION: The Nine of Swords shows a woman sitting up in her bed with her head in her hands. She appears to have been jolted awake from a terrible nightmare that has left her disturbed, scared and anxious. Nine swords hang on the dark wall behind her, representing the negative thoughts that weigh heavily on her mind. The base of the woman’s bed features a carving of one person defeating another, and roses and the outlines of astrological symbols adorn the quilt wrapped around her.

Video: My Ghostly Tour Guide at Hever Castle: Ghosts of England book

In my book "Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation" by Rob Gutro,  I wrote about my encounter with a ghost named "George" when I entered Hever Castle in the United Kingdom. Having no knowledge of the castle, and no idea who it was, I learned it was Queen Anne Boleyn's brother, who met a fateful end under the rule of Henry VIII, George shared a number of personal things with me and accompanied me through Hever Castle, acting as a ghostly tour guide. This video that I made outside the castle captures some of that, and the rest is in the book!

An Unexpected and Appreciated Thanks

I received this beautiful bouquet at our doorstep this morning, from a couple for whom I gave a free email reading of messages from their dachshund who passed. I don't know how they got the address, as we just communicated by email, but this was a really generous thing to do. I do what I do to just bring Comfort to people who have lost their dogs and cats, and I don't expect anything in return. So this was extraordinarily thoughtful and totally unexpected. Thank you to Geoffrey the Dachshund's two dads.

Part 8: Haunted Devon, UK: Spinsters Rock

Photo: The so-called Spinsters Rock near Drewsteignton
My latest book is called "Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation" (by Rob Gutro) and conveys
all of the ghosts I met as I traveled throughout England. There are a LOT more ghosts in England that I  did not (yet) meet, and here is the Eighth  of several postings from Devonlive in Devon, U.K about some of them.. - Rob

  Spinsters Rock

This rock formation is a Neolithic dolmen near Drewsteignton on Shilstone Farm west of the village near the A382 road.
Legends surround these rock formations and stone circles in Dartmoor often tell of young maids being turned into stone for dancing on the Sabbath. But it is in fact a neolithic tomb. The distinctive leaf-shaped flint arrowheads used by Neolithic man have been found nearby on the Moor.

Tarot Tuesday: The 8 of Cups

Every Tuesday, my friend Joy Andreasen brings us Tarot Tuesday and today it's the 8 of Cups
Joy  says: You may find that you need some time away from a relationship or emotional situation. You may move, take a trip or you may just separate yourself emotionally. In either case, the end result is not yet determined. Be open to seeing the situation in a new way.

**********************************
Biddy Tarot provided keywords and the card's meaning: https://www.biddytarot.com/
KEYWORDS: Upright: Disappointment, abandonment, withdrawal, escapism Reversed: Trying one more time, indecision, aimless drifting, walking away.

MEANINGS AND DESCRIPTION: In the Eight of Cups, a man walks away from the eight cups standing in the foreground. The cups are arranged in such a way that it looks like one is missing, a sign that emotional fulfilment and wholeness is lacking. The man has turned his back on these cups with a sense of loss and disappointment and shuffles away into the mountains. A nearby river symbolises his emotions, and the mountains represent the awareness that this will not be an easy journey (though it will be necessary for true long-term happiness). The moon in the night’s sky illuminates the path ahead – the man is leaving in the dead of night hoping to go unnoticed, suggesting that there may be a level of escape or avoidance in this card.
