Tarot Tuesday: 7 of Swords

Every Tuesday, my friend Joy Andreason provides "Tarot Tuesday" to give you some insight into tarot
cards. Today's card is the 7 of Swords Card.

Joy says:  Traditionally, today's card symbolizes trickery or deceit. Is someone not being up front with you, or is there a hidden truth you are keeping from yourself? Most secrets end up being broadcast at the most inopportune moments. Might be a good idea to come clean.

MEANING OF THE 7 OF SWORDS CARD: (Thanks to biddytarot.com)
UPRIGHT: Betrayal, deception, getting away with something, acting strategically
REVERSED: Imposter syndrome, self-deceit, keeping secrets

ABOUT THE CARD:
The Seven of Swords shows a man sneaking away from a military camp with five swords in his arms. He looks over his shoulder at the two upright swords he has left behind. The smile on his face suggests that he is proud of himself for having slipped away without being noticed.
NOTE: The Tarot card meaning description is based on the Rider Waite cards.

Tarot Tuesday: Wheel of Fortune Card

Every Tuesday, my friend Joy Andreason provides "Tarot Tuesday" to give you some insight into tarot
cards. Today's card is the Wheel of Fortune Card.

Joy says: There is change in the air! Be open to your life changing for the better! Be thankful for your many blessings and cherish those you love. The only thing that is assured is that nothing ever stays the same.

MEANING OF THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE CARD: (Thanks to biddytarot.com)
Upright: Good luck, karma, life cycles, destiny, a turning point Reversed: Bad luck, resistance to change, breaking cycles

ABOUT THE CARD:
The Wheel of Fortune card shows a giant wheel, with three figures on the outer edges. Four Hebrew letters – YHVH (Yod Heh Vau Heh), the unpronounceable name of God – are inscribed on the wheel’s face. There are also the letters TORA, thought to be a version of the word Torah, meaning ‘law’, or TAROT, or even ROTA (Latin for ‘wheel’). The middle wheel has the alchemical symbols for mercury, sulphur, water and salt – the building blocks of life and the four elements – and represents formative power. On the outer circle is a snake, the Egyptian god Typhon (the god of evil), descending on the left side. The snake also represents the life force plunging into the material world. On the right side rises the Anubis, the Egyptian God of the dead who welcomes souls to the underworld. And on top of the wheel sits the Sphinx, representing knowledge and strength. In the corners of the Wheel of Fortune card are four winged creatures, each associated with the four fixed signs of the Zodiac: the angel is Aquarius, the eagle is Scorpio, the lion is Leo, and the bull is Taurus. Their wings signify stability amidst movement and change, and each holds the Torah, representing wisdom. NOTE: The Tarot card meaning description is based on the Rider Waite cards. Tarot Tuesday: King of Swords (and a Tarot Class in No. VA with Joy Andreasen)

Every Tuesday, my friend Joy Andreason provides "Tarot Tuesday" to give you some insight into tarot cards. Today's Card is the King of Swords.

Joy says:   If you are a man, today is a day to think about your words and how they affect those around you. Know that your words hold power and are taken to heart. If you are a woman, your communication with a man may prove to be important today. The power of life or death is in the tongue. .

SPECIAL CLASS: If you would like to learn about Tarot cards, Joy Andreasen of Whispers of Joy is holding a class on April 7th at 1pm in Winchester, VA https://www.facebook.com/events/269830610569111/

POSITION OF THE CARD (from Biddytarot.com):
Upright: Mental clarity, intellectual power, authority, truth.
Reversed: Quiet power, inner truth, misuse of power, manipulation.

CARD DESCRIPTION: The King of Swords sits upon his throne, facing forward as if ready to confront whatever life throws at him. He holds a sword in his right hand, the hand of the conscious, rational mind, and points it upright and to the left, the side of the subconscious, intuitive mind. This symbolizes the King’s decisiveness, but also flexibility in all matters; while he makes decisions based mostly on his intellectual understanding, he stays open to his intuition. The King wears a blue tunic, symbolic of a desire for spiritual knowledge, and a purple cape, symbolic of his compassion and intellect. The back of his throne is decorated with butterflies (transformation), crescent moons and an angel just near his left ear, positioned as if to give him subtle guidance.
The trees behind him stand still, and the clouds have settled. The wind from the previous Swords court cards has died down, giving the impression of stability and clarity rather than the confusion of sweeping change.

Tarot Tuesday: The Temperance Card XIV

Every Tuesday, my friend Joy Andreasen brings us Tarot Tuesday. Today's card is the Temperance card.

Joy says it means:
Today it is really important to incorporate balance into your life. We as humans are multi faceted. We are spiritual beings having a human experience, which means we are members of a family, most of us go to work, and there are many stress factors which can hamper our ability to always know exactly what to do in any particular situation. It is so important to acknowledge our humanness while seeking to evolve ourselves spiritually. Do normal human things. Laugh. Cry. Eat. Sleep. Work. Play. Love. Be angry sometimes. But remember that there is a spiritual solution to every challenge. Ask for help. Be confident that is help on the way.

Temperance (XIV) is the fourteenth trump or Major Arcana card in most traditional Tarot decks. It is used in game playing as well as in divination
Depiction: Temperance is almost invariably depicted as a person pouring liquid from one receptacle into another. In many decks, the person is a winged person/angel, usually female or androgynous, and stands with one foot on water and one foot on land.
Meaning: This card indicates that you should learn to bring about balance, patience and moderation in your life. You should take the middle road, avoiding extremes and maintain a sense of calm.
Upright card (keywords): Connecting with your guides, Balance, Moderation, Harmony, Alchemy, Looking for divine intervention
Reversed card (keywords): Disharmony, Imbalance, Onset of illness, Lack of patience
