Tarot Tuesday: King of Swords (and a Tarot Class in No. VA with Joy Andreasen)

POSITION OF THE CARD (from Biddytarot.com):
Upright: Mental clarity, intellectual power, authority, truth.
Reversed: Quiet power, inner truth, misuse of power, manipulation.


CARD DESCRIPTION: The King of Swords sits upon his throne, facing forward as if ready to confront whatever life throws at him. He holds a sword in his right hand, the hand of the conscious, rational mind, and points it upright and to the left, the side of the subconscious, intuitive mind. This symbolizes the King’s decisiveness, but also flexibility in all matters; while he makes decisions based mostly on his intellectual understanding, he stays open to his intuition. The King wears a blue tunic, symbolic of a desire for spiritual knowledge, and a purple cape, symbolic of his compassion and intellect. The back of his throne is decorated with butterflies (transformation), crescent moons and an angel just near his left ear, positioned as if to give him subtle guidance.
   The trees behind him stand still, and the clouds have settled. The wind from the previous Swords court cards has died down, giving the impression of stability and clarity rather than the confusion of sweeping change.

Tarot Tuesday: Five of Swords

My friend Joy Andreasen of "Whispers of Joy" provides Tarot readings and here's her Tarot Tuesday:

Joy Says, "With election day being today, there are a lot of ruffled feathers as people choose sides. No matter what your political opinions, remember we are all brothers and sisters. Yes, vote. Stand up for what you believe, but allow others the same courtesy. Be kind to all." 

THE CARD: The Five of Swords card depicts a young man who has a very convenient look of contempt on his face. He is looking at the enemies that he has managed to conquer. There are five swords that he possesses – which he has taken from the other combatants who are in the card. The two other figures are walking away from him in a slow manner with a sense of loss and sadness. Above them, the sky is tumultuous and cloudy, which indicates that not everything is well, despite the fact that the battle is already over.

Tarot Tuesday: The Hermit

Welcome to my friend Joy Andreasen's Tarot Tuesday!
Today's card is the Hermit

Joy says: We all have times in our life when we need to withdraw from our normal activities and go within ourselves to seek wisdom. This whole month so far has been one of those times. Sometimes we just have to set our internal reset button, and the only way to do that is through withdrawal and silence. Sometimes the only way forward is by standing still for a time. It is okay. Be silent today, at least for a moment, and allow yourself some time to just breathe.

  Joy says: Today is a day when you may have some obstacles to overcome in order to move forward. Remember that obstacles don't have to be a bad thing. Sometimes obstacles come along just because life is that way and there is no good reason. The best part is, nothing is permanent. Life is fluid, always changing, always shifting.   Joy says: This card doesn't come up much for me. This is the card of secrets, lies, or stealing. When this card shows up Spirit is indicating that someone is not being truthful or maybe that I am not being truthful to myself. Possibly it could mean the feeling that you need to steal away and be by yourself. Whichever way you interpret this card, today may be a day to demand honesty, either from yourself or others. Be up front so that you are not misunderstood. Know that nothing ever stays a secret forever. The truth will eventually come out. Better be up front now than be discovered later.

  Joy says: Has someone shut you out either physically or emotionally? Do you feel you lack the support you need to rise above the situation you find yourself in? It may be that some self evaluation is necessary to rise above this situation. Anytime we blame our circumstances on something or someone outside of ourselves, we play the victim role. We give away our power to the very ones who have seemingly abandoned us. There is always another possibility. There is always a way forward. Take responsibility for your role in the situation and ask yourself what can you do to empower yourself? Stop the negative self talk and the blame game. You are stronger than you think.

Joy Andreasen's Tarot Tuesday; Queen of Cups

Today's Tarot Tuesday with Joy Andreasen presents "Queen of Cups." 
  Joy says: This card is supposed to represent being the queen of your emotions. Today I happened to notice those sharp points on the cup. I may have wondered why they are only on this card. All of the other cup cards have normal cups. This one has this very elaborate but sharp pointy cup. Spirit says love sometimes pricks us. Sometimes it is sharp and potentially painful. Is she giving this cup to someone or did someone give it to her? Sometimes what is offered in Love hurts. Today be aware that love is not always cotton candy and marshmallows. Sometimes it hurts. Love anyway, but address the hurts. Don't let them fester. Healing only comes when the pain is addressed.
