In the news: Millions Of Mummified Dogs Found In Ancient Egyptian Catacombs

Humans have considered pets precious throughout time and the ancient Egyptians were a great example. They wanted their beloved pets to join them in the afterlife and believed it - as we do today (finally). It's interesting that all the knowledge and understanding we had about the afterlife got lost somewhere along the way,and has recently been re-discovered. Sadly, some man-made religions (they're all man-made) have given people the wrong ideas about the afterlife.
Every living thing transitions to the afterlife. It's all about energy.   When we die, people or animals, our energy combines with our memories and personalities and joins the energies of the universe, or heaven, paradise, Valhalla, etc. and we all become a spirit- all a part of a 'god' energy if you will.
This article provides a fascinating look at how ancient Egyptians revered their precious pets as many pet parents do today. - Rob

In catacombs south of Cairo, researchers have discovered burial sites filled with huge numbers of mummified animals — nearly 8 million of them, mostly dogs.
The catacombs, at a site called Saqqara, are dedicated to Anubis, the jackal-headed god of the afterlife. Archaeologist and Egyptologist Salima Ikram, a professor at the American University in Cairo who has worked extensively at the site, writes that animal mummification began in ancient Egypt "to allow beloved pets to go on to the afterlife, to provide food in the afterlife, to act as offerings to a particular god and because some were seen as physical manifestations of specific gods that the Egyptians worshipped."
Speaking with NPR's Arun Rath, Ikram explains that "each [animal] mummy would be a symbol of something a pilgrim had given as a gift to the god. So nowadays, people go to a church and light a candle.
"But the Egyptians were in for the long haul, so instead of a candle, they would offer a mummy. So clearly, this means that there were a lot of very religious people out there who were asking Anubis for intercession and for help for a variety of things."
Since ancient Egyptian gods and divinities are associated with nature, Ikram says, "The faces of the gods are also associated with different animals that have the same attributes as the gods do. So, for example, Anubis, god of embalming and travel, is associated with canines because they run through the deserts, they don't lose their way and you find them around graveyards."
An X-ray of a dog mummy from the catacombs reveals what's beneath the binding. Some of the mummies were found in much poorer condition than this. i

Ikram says the huge number of dog mummies suggests the existence of ancient Egyptian puppy mills.
"You don't get 8 million mummies without having puppy farms," she says. "And some of these dogs were killed deliberately so that they could be offered. So for us, that seems really heartless. But for the Egyptians, they felt that the dogs were going straight up to join the eternal pack with Anubis. And so they were going off to a better thing."
There is much more left to explore at Saqqara, Ikram says.
For now, she says, "We have been into as many of the tunnels as we could, because some of them are very dangerous. But this does mean that for future generations, there will be things to explore and discoveries to be made."

Q&A: What Did your Dad look like Going into the light?

The light
I received the following question from Carolyn, who read about me seeing my dad' spirit at the cemetery (in 2008) during his graveside services and then as he walked into the light (that opened on the nearby hill).

Q: When you saw your father in the cemetery , was he light and shiny in form, possibly see through? Was his spiritual body shimmering and almost effervescent? All I meant was from your point of view, as it was a spirit visitation, how would you describe the body of your father from a distance and, I guess, your beloved puppy (I think you said he was there), when you saw them?

Buzz

A: When I saw my dad in the cemetery he appeared as if he were solid, but fuzzy.   In the light, waiting for my dad were shadowy figures of all the family relatives that were waiting for him, but I could see their faces. Their bodies were in shadow with a bright glow behind them. Yes, the 2 family dogs, and my dog Buzz were sitting in the front, and they all appeared somewhat shadowed, too, but their faces were also clear.

Bear's Paranormal Investigation Part 5: Hill View Manor : The Results

This is the fifth installment with  my friend "Bear" Elliott as he goes on a paranormal investigation in a haunted location in Pennsylvania.

After a week of reviewing the audio, photos and my notes from the August 15th, 2015 paranormal investigation of the Hill View Manor in New Castle, Pennsylvania, the results are available for you to review. I have a couple interesting EVPs (Audio Recordings) and a possible orb that was caught on digital photography. Is this proof that there is life after death? I want to hear your thoughts on my findings.  - Bear

Great pictures from the New England Pet Expo! (Pets and the Afterlife appearance)

Had a great time at the New England Pet Expo this past weekend meeting people and talking about my book "Pets and the Afterlife" - as well as hearing some amazing stories from folks!!
I was joined by my good friend and amazing medium Ruthie Larkin aka the Beantown Medium (www.beantownmedium.com) who is also featured in the book, and she gave an amazing reading at the end of the event through a grey cat to a woman named Eileen. Ruthie even identified that the cat had a hip problem and the exact leg that the cat had issues with (and a lot more).
Here are some pictures from some of the great folks Ruthie and I met!  - Rob Gutro

Bear's Paranormal Investigation Part 3: Hill View Manor : Walk Through

When conducting a Ghost Hunt, it is always a good idea to start out going through the dwelling before starting the investigation. Commonly known as a "Walk Through", this will help you identify areas that you will want to focus on during the actual hunt. Walk Throughs are an important step on multiple levels. You can get to know the location, possible health hazards and those individuals with psychic abilities can get a "feel" for what you may encounter inside the structure. Let's take a look at what the Walk Through of Hill View Manor was like on August 15th, 2015.

Bear's Paranormal Investigation Part 2: Hill View Manor : History

Over the next 2 weeks, you can join my friend "Bear" Elliott as he goes on a paranormal investigation in a haunted location in Pennsylvania. This is part 2!

Hill View Manor is located in New Castle, Pennsylvania and has a rich history that sets the stage for a great Ghost Story. The history of the location is just as important as the paranormal activities that are being reported. Some Ghost Hunting groups like to go into a dwelling with little knowledge of past events. I personally, think knowing the history of the location plays an important part in researching what you may encounter. Here is a brief overview of the interesting history of Hill View Manor for today's Bear With Me.  Bear Elliott
