At the New England Pet Expo, I met a wonderful woman named Debbie K, who talked with me about paranormal activity in her house. I asked if she would share the story for others as a way to show some ways that spirit tries to communicate with us... and examples of cats seeing spirits! - Rob
Here's Debbie's story:

We
moved into our home the end of July, 2013 and at that time we were
unaware that the wife had passed in January of 2011. The third week of
August I was out at training all day while my husband was at work. I
came home from training and a table that was in our living room was
standing upright in the doorway to our office. We only have cats and
there is no way they could have moved the table. I thought my husband
may have moved the table for some reason and shrugged it off - he left
after I had that morning. When he came home from work, I asked him if
he moved the table and he had not!
After cleaning up from dinner, I
went to go into the basement to do laundry and noticed the door was ajar
(it is always closed to keep the cats upstairs). We searched the
bathroom and all closets in the house and did not
find signs of an intruder.

Also in August my husband was changing out
outlets since they were old and were not grounded. He shut off breakers
in the basement until he found the one for the living room. However,
the same breaker did that area of the basement and he turned on one of
the clip on lights that you get from Home Depot. After changing the
outlets, he went back into the basement and the light was off - it was
completely unplugged from the wall!!
Tonight
I was making dinner and heard something fall in the basement. One of
our cats was in the back hallway and was sniffing the closed door
and seemed concerned about what he heard. I became nervous and of
course my husband again was not home yet. It is at times like this that
I wish we had a dog to make me feel a little more settled. As best as I
can tell, nothing has happened from the two events last year and what I
heard tonight.

After reading Debbie's story I got a couple of messages from spirit, so I emailed them to her to see if they made sense. Here's what I wrote:
Hi Debbie- Thank you so much for your story! It was so nice to meet you at the Pet Expo.
I
remember your story of the door being opened and the table moved. Wow.
The diagram really shows that the table was moved quite a distance.
That's a strong spirit! - Usually they'll hide tools, a check, cash, or
something light.
- Did that table belong to someone in your
family? (not your husband's side- your side). I'm getting the sense
that there was an older male spirit connected with you that's paying you
a visit from time to time. More like someone who is actually watching
over you. That's what the noises are that you hear. - He says "the cats
can see me and figured it out."
What's the significance of
September to you and your family? - and the number "33" or something
with threes in it? - those things all relate to the table, and the
activity you've experienced.
There's no bad feelings there,
it's all good. It's all about watching over you. - The fusebox needed
to be attended to to prevent a fire, and that was part of the reason for
the attention.
- Does any of this make sense to you?

Debbie acknowledged the messages I sent and provided the following explanations:
The table I had bought at a tag sale (the tag sale had a man running it) probably about 4 or 5
years ago (so it's not connected to anyone in the family).
I had a boyfriend pass away suddenly in March of
2003. Sean was great to my cats and one especially took to him. (THIS IS THE MALE VISITING) The
last weekend he visited, she would not go anywhere near him which I
thought was odd. Monday
afternoon he passed away of a massive heart attack and I know that is
why Lady acted weird - she sensed something was up. We lost Lady
probably about 2 years ago due to illness and all of our current cats
did not know Sean.
Regarding
September, the only thing is my birthday which was the 13th. When I
turned 13 I drove my mother insane because it was a Friday! I am the
same age as Sean was when he passed - 42.
Everything
we have seen so far has been nothing bad so I am not letting myself
worry about it - except it was scary being home along last night and
thinking someone was in our basement.
