Here's yet another amazing story of how a pet's spirit, a dog in this case, provided a sign to her mom after she passed.
Spirit Dog Sends a Real "Rainbow Bridge"

A woman named Jan stopped by the booth and told Ruthie and I that she had lost her beloved Bassett Hound named Sissy. However, she said that she recognized a sign from her after her passing. She asked his spirit to tell her if he had crossed the "Rainbow Bridge." The Rainbow Bridge is a popular poem about how animals cross into the light in the afterlife.
Jan was kind enough to share her story for everyone. Here's what Jan writes:
Feb 17th 2000 will be a day I will never
forget. On that Thursday I had to say
goodbye to my best friend & confidant of 8 years & 3 months. Her name
was Sissy & she was by far the most loving, sweet, loyal, affectionate,
passive, perfect Basset Hound & she was my soul-mate dog. Before taking her
to the vets for the last time, I brought her to a Native American elder to
bless her. He told me she was not dying but was just going to a different place
& for me to watch for signs from her.
Almost immediately I started reading everything I could get
my hands on about pet loss & quickly learned about the Rainbow Bridge. I also found a wonderful website where I created a
virtual cemetery space for Sissy, since I had her ashes sent to Arizona where I
own a plot in a pet cemetery.
Well 3 weeks later to the date, March 9th, I received
2 pieces of info in regard to Sissy. One was from the cemetery in Arizona saying
they received her ashes & they would be buried the next day. The other was from
the website where I was creating the virtual cemetery & they messaged me telling me that
they had approved my submission & it would now be on line to view.

On my way home from work, on that very same date, I donated her
leftover dog food to a stray dog rescue organization. As I was driving home it
was raining, but the temperature was warm & nice. Still being dazed & confused
throughout my intense grief, I thought to myself that Sissy gave me this weather.
Then I spoke out loud “Maybe you can give me a rainbow, too.”
Well, not more than a ½ mile later I saw people on both
sides of the road, looking up at the sky. So naturally I also looked to the sky and there it was, the most biggest, brightest rainbow I’ve ever seen in
Massachusetts. It was so complete from end to end, beautiful & even with
another smaller one behind it. Well I instantly started sobbing hard because
all I could think of was my Sissy telling me something like, “I see it Mom. I
see the rainbow & I’m almost home.”
It was at that point, despite a ton of tears, I repeatedly thanked her
for such an obvious, miraculous sign.
So, equally, March 9th 2000 will be a day I will
also never forget.
