Q&A with Medium Rob Gutro: Will Keeping Ashes Trap my Cat Here?

I get a lot of questions about the power of ashes, and what they can and cannot do with spirit. Here's a
question I received about whether having ashes keep a spirit Earthbound (as a ghost).

 Q: I lost my cat several months ago. She loved being outside in the backyard and so I wanted to put some of her ashes out there but I am scared of tethering her spirit to this house. In the next few years it is very likely we will sell this house and I don't want her to become trapped because some of her ashes are here. Is it safe to bury some of the ashes or will I prevent her from being able to be free?

 A: Since she loved being outside, it's a wonderful idea to sprinkle some of her ashes in the backyard. - That will not tether her to the house. Ashes are just remnants of the former physical body, and don't hold a spirit back. In fact, your cat's spirit crossed over. Ashes have a little residual energy,so they can help draw a spirit back to them, but it doesn't trap them! Yes, you can also bury the ashes. Spirits aren't tethered to them. In fact, spirits have the ability to find us anywhere in the world. I wrote about that in my "Pets and the Afterlife" book, when my puppy Buzz's spirit found us in Puerto Rico when we were on vacation. (you can find my books on Amazon.com).

I Met a Famous Ghost at Hever Castle, UK! (story In "Ghosts of England: On a Medium's Vacation")

I met a lot of ghosts during my two vacations in England, and wrote about them in my new book "Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation."

   I filmed this outside of Hever Castle in the United Kingdom right after I encountered the Ghost of George Boleyn (of the Tudor period).   George was the brother of Queen Anne Boleyn (One of Henry VIII's wives).  George acted as a ghostly tour guide as I walked through the entire castle!!  You can read about it in my latest book.
   You can also meet many other ghosts, too, including those who linger at the Tower of London, my haunted hotel room, Thornbury Castle, Ghosts in Canterbury, Stratford-Upon-Avon, and so much more!

Paranormal Q&A: How has the Medium field changed since you became involved?

Each week, I'll answer a question about the paranormal, whether a general question, or one about human or animal ghosts (Earthbound) or spirits (crossed over). Here's this week's question: 

Q: How has the field of being a medium changed since you became involved? 
What do you see for the future of this work?

A: The field has changed and has been more accepted over the last 10 years, with some mediums on television. Interestingly enough, my mother's cousin was a medium who I learned help solve crimes with the police in a town in Massachusetts in the 40s and 50s. Mediums used to be balked at, but now police forces around the country have been more open about using mediums for unsolved crimes.  - I think that's a great place for the future of the work.

I also think that mediums who continue to provide messages to comfort living people is a great service and I think that more people are turning to them for comfort. Police departments will likely continue to use mediums to solve "unsolvable" cases, too.

Part 2: My experience at the Utah Paranormal Expo!

This past weekend I was a speaker and did book signings at the Utah Paranormal Expo. I spoke about my books "Pets and the Afterlife" and "Pets and the Afterlife 2." The talk was well-attended and I talked with a lot of great people.   The expo was quite busy, which was great. I would love to return and speak again!

All celebrities that come will be doing presentations. General admission will have panels etc...however, the celebrities who are doing presentations are different than general panels live at the event. Celebrities will have tables, meet and greet set-up, but their presentations will be held in a separate room next to the main event. We will have activities taking place live throughout the days event, but the presentations, discussions are in a separate forum next to the live event.

Recording Equipment is not permitted. Cell Phones are asked to be turned off. There will be a time for mixing and mingling with the celebrities, signing, and pictures are allowed.
