Here's yet another amazing story of how a pet's spirit, a dog in this case, provided a sign to her mom after she passed.
Spirit Dog Sends a Real "Rainbow Bridge"
Photo of Sissy. Courtesy of Jan A>
A woman named Jan stopped by the booth and told Ruthie and I that she
had lost her beloved Bassett Hound named Sissy. However, she said that she
recognized a sign from her after her passing. She
asked his spirit to tell her if he had crossed the "Rainbow Bridge." The Rainbow Bridge is a popular poem about how animals cross into the
light in the afterlife.
Jan was kind enough to share her story for everyone. Here's what Jan writes:
Feb 17th 2000 will be a day I will never
forget. On that Thursday I had to say
goodbye to my best friend & confidant of 8 years & 3 months. Her name
was Sissy & she was by far the most loving, sweet, loyal, affectionate,
passive, perfect Basset Hound & she was my soul-mate dog. Before taking her
to the vets for the last time, I brought her to a Native American elder to
bless her. He told me she was not dying but was just going to a different place
& for me to watch for signs from her.
Almost immediately I started reading everything I could get
my hands on about pet loss & quickly learned about the Rainbow Bridge. I also found a wonderful website where I created a
virtual cemetery space for Sissy, since I had her ashes sent to Arizona where I
own a plot in a pet cemetery.
Well 3 weeks later to the date, March 9th, I received
2 pieces of info in regard to Sissy. One was from the cemetery in Arizona saying
they received her ashes & they would be buried the next day. The other was from
the website where I was creating the virtual cemetery & they messaged me telling me that
they had approved my submission & it would now be on line to view.
A double rainbow
On my way home from work, on that very same date, I donated her
leftover dog food to a stray dog rescue organization. As I was driving home it
was raining, but the temperature was warm & nice. Still being dazed & confused
throughout my intense grief, I thought to myself that Sissy gave me this weather.
Then I spoke out loud “Maybe you can give me a rainbow, too.”
Well, not more than a ½ mile later I saw people on both
sides of the road, looking up at the sky. So naturally I also looked to the sky and there it was, the most biggest, brightest rainbow I’ve ever seen in
Massachusetts. It was so complete from end to end, beautiful & even with
another smaller one behind it. Well I instantly started sobbing hard because
all I could think of was my Sissy telling me something like, “I see it Mom. I
see the rainbow & I’m almost home.”
It was at that point, despite a ton of tears, I repeatedly thanked her
for such an obvious, miraculous sign.
So, equally, March 9th 2000 will be a day I will
also never forget.

Ruthie gets to meet a Native American Dog with a big spirit
Recently I went to the Boston area where I had a booth and talked about
my book "Pets and the Afterlife" at the New England Pet Expo in
Wilmington, Massachusetts.
In this blog you'll read about TWO amazing signs from spirit dogs.
My friend Ruthie Larkin, the Beantown Medium was with me all day and we really enjoyed meeting everyone!
DOXIE DREAMING: A GOOD SIGN- One of the people I met is
also a Dachshund parent like me, and she told me that her Dachshund had
passed. However, she told me that recently, her red, smooth-haired
Dachshund had come to her in a dream to let her know that he was okay on
the other side. Dreams are the most common way that spirit can
communicate with us. People on the other side can come into your dreams.
(Earth-bound ghosts seem to have a much harder time doing that...) So
it was a good confirmation that her little guy is happy on the other
side.
Hunter a dog on Wheels
A Husky all dressed for the occasion
HUNTER A DOG ON WHEELS - I got to meet an amazing dog who doesn't have the use of his back legs, but his dad got him a wheel-harness and said that "Hunter" doesn't even notice it now. He said that Hunter loves to play fetch and can run like any other dog. That was encouraging because one of our dachshunds had the same spinal surgery that Hunter had, and our little guy is struggling to relearn how to walk.

GLENS FALLS >> For animal lovers and pet owners who hold
their four-footed friends close to their hearts, Adirondack Save-a-Stray
is hosting a fundraising dinner that both supports living pets and
might let grieving owners communicate with their beloved dead. Spiritual
expression, communication and possible psychic experiences await Oct. 4
at 5:30 p.m. at 333 Glen Street in Glens Falls.
For 25 years now, Adirondack Save-a-Stray has worked to keep
animals alive. At 4880 Route 9N in Corinth, this no-kill 501(c)3
nonprofit animal shelter/rescue organization takes in abused, abandoned,
stray and unwanted animals. The organization also offers a low-cost
veterinary wellness clinic, a pet-food bank, a pet referral website,
adoptions and community education.

Adirondack Save-a-Stray receives no federal, state or local
funding, so donations and fundraising make up 100 percent of its budget.
At the Oct. 4 fundraiser on Monument Square Building’s
(Traveler’s Building’s) ninth floor, shelter supporters can browse
exhibits and sip cocktails until 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and
dessert. There will also be door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, a silent
auction and two guest speakers.
Meteorologist Robert Gutro of Washington, D.C., a writer, medium
and paranormal investigator, will present his stories of ghosts and
spirits. His newest book is “Pets in the Afterlife.” He will share how
to connect with late loved ones, both human and animal. For him, it’s scientific. It’s all about energy, an energy that transcends boundaries.
“Physical energy is electrical impulses in the brain,” he said.
“That energy has to go somewhere when you die. Energy transitions with
memory and personality.”
Science hasn’t caught up to paranormal studies yet, he said.
In Gutro’s author biography, he considers himself an average guy
who happens to be able to communicate with those who have died, both
people and animals. He’s had the ability since he was a teenager, and it
has improved over time. In 2005, his late puppy became a steadfast
canine communicator and inspired Gutro to write his first book. “Ghost pets can assist us, nudge us and keep us away from danger,” he said.
In “Pets in the Afterlife,” Gutro writes, “ ... Keep an open mind
to the things you may not immediately understand; realize that our
souls are living energy, and that we are all connected both here in the
physical realm and in the spiritual realm ... “ ... The intent in sharing these stories is so that others may
come to believe there’s more to this world than meets the eye. Through
relating these experiences, you will be better equipped to know what
signs to look for from your own beloved pets and be able to recognize
their attempts to communicate with you.”
People can hear musical signs and other sounds, as well as feel
cold spots where ghosts are standing, he said. Ghosts can also be seen.
Late pets come back to comfort their owners, as well as to perform such tasks as training a new dog, Gutro said.
“I have seen a ghost Chihuahua named Chico return from the
afterlife to train a woman’s black Labrador to be a better dog,” he
said. “Chico was the woman’s grandmother’s dog.”
Gutro does not charge for his messages from beyond; he doesn’t
usually hold private medium sessions. He volunteers as a speaker to
teach groups how everyone has the ability to reach lost loved ones, if
an open mind is kept.
“I teach people how to find the messages without needing a
medium,” he said. “It takes being open-minded and observant, and
realizing there’s no such thing as a coincidence.”
At the New England Pet Expo in Wilmington, Mass., Gutro met a
woman named Donna who spoke of missing her late dog, Basil. Gutro told
her that dog spirits will sometimes lead to their owners other dogs that
look just like them; and precisely then, a black French bulldog came
marching down the aisle toward Donna — a dog that looked just like her
lost pet and the only dog of that breed Gutro saw at the expo.
“Learning how to communicate with your late pets is a great way
to get comfort and confirmation that they are okay,” he said. “It gives
people hope and understanding.”
The Adirondack Save-a-Stray dinner’s second speaker, Ladybird
Light owner Lindsey Bodkin, is a Reiki teacher who specializes in animal
healing and communication. She will present about the physical, verbal
and telepathic aspects of communicating with pets, an ability she said
all people have and can deepen.
“It’s so important to have an open dialogue with animals,” she
said. “People can find out whether their pets are good with children,
used to being the only dog or enjoy being part of a pack. Are the
animals healthy and happy? Are they in pain? People can communicate with
their pets about these things.”
Bodkin teaches workshops about the techniques, using meditation
and energy work. She even works with animals at the end of their lives,
seeking whether they are ready to let go and how they want to die.
“We get lots of calls from people grieving the death of a pet,”
said Adirondack Save-a-Stray Director Meredith Fiel. “People really feel
deeply connected to their pet family members, and need comfort and
closure before opening their hearts and homes to another animal.”
After reading “Pets in the Afterlife,” the director wanted to
have Gutro speak at the fundraising dinner, to help pet adopters heal
and become willing to love a new dog or cat. Clients attested to
Bodkin’s fine work, Fiel said.
“You have to believe in something,” Fiel said. “Our dinner will
be a good venue for people who love their pets to explore these ideas,
if they like.”
Also, such people who love their pets dearly and grieve for their
loss are the type of warm, kind-hearted rescuers Adirondack
Save-a-Stray wants as adopters and readopters, she noted.

Last weekend I went to the Boston area where I had a booth and talked about
my book "Pets and the Afterlife" at the New England Pet Expo in
Wilmington, Massachusetts. The day was very busy and I met some great
people and dogs and heard some amazing stories. This blog will highlight
some of both!
Donna was excited to get a message from her late dog Basil
SPIRIT OF A FRENCH BULLDOG SENDS A CLEAR MESSAGE - It didn't take long for the first dog's spirit to send a message to his mom. A woman named Donna came to my booth and talked with me and Ruthie Larkin (the Beantown Medium) about the passing of her black french bulldog, Basil. She said that she was looking for a sign from Basil and missed him more than anything. Donna felt comfort from learning some of the ways that dogs will communicate from the other side. No sooner than I told her that dogs will sometimes lead to their pet parents other dogs that look just like them - than a Black French Bulldog came marching down the aisle toward Donna!
Clearly Basil orchestrated his doppelganger's appearance while Donna was at our booth, and right after I told her about pets use doppelgangers to tell their parents that they are still with them in spirit. It was amazing!

Ruthie meets a new friend at the New England Pet Expo
Ruthie writes: A Beautiful Story and an Invitation I went to a Christmas
Party a few years ago at my ex-husband's home and was introduced to this
big strapping man named Bob. So here I am engaged in conversation with
this total stranger and the entire time I'm seeing his deceased son
standing behind him who is a few inches taller than his Dad and he's
talking my ear off. Now I'm not in the habit of telling people I have
just met at a party that I'm a Psychic Medium and his son is trying to make
me laugh. I was right in the middle of trying to decide how to handle
this situation when we are joined by this woman named Sandra who blurts
out to me "are you a Medium?" I'm thinking to myself who is this woman
and then their son (James) tells me that his mother has just joined us.
OK - we now have a family get together but how in the world does this
woman know I'm a Medium? She quickly tells me that she was told that
very day by another Medium that her son James would play a trick on her
and her husband at a party that night where there would be a Medium. So
now flash forward a few years and know that Sandra and I have become
great friends and I always volunteer my help with the Fundraisers
(usually races) she runs annually in honor of her son James. This year
is a little different as I am part of the entertainment for this event
along with a great Comedian. Why don't you bring some friends and join
us this coming Saturday evening at the Franklin Country Club (in Franklin, Massachusetts). Check out
the details on my websitewww.beantownmedium.com under events. Hope to see you! Ruthie ************************************* Ruthie is featured in this book: LESSONS LEARNED FROM TALKING TO THE DEAD by Rob Gutro:Follow
