My Mom Sends a Special Musical Sign on Mother's Day

Even though I've had decades of signs from spirits of people and pets who have passed on, it still amazes me what they can do to let us know they're around. Usually, they drop by on birthdays, anniversaries and holidays, and Mother's day was no exception as my mom let me know she's around.
   As I've written in all 5 of my books, spirits (and earthbound ghosts) have many ways to let us know they are around. This time, my mom sent me a specific musical sign in a song that was one of her and my favorites- and that holds a special memory. My Mom passed in December of 2013 and lets me know she's still very much around. Here's her latest "note" to me!

WHAT HAPPENED - On Mother's Day, we went to a restaurant with Tom's folks. There was music playing over the speakers as we dined. Just as we were finishing up and preparing to leave, Dolly Parton's "Here you come again" came on. I knew mom was sitting next to me at the table (along with my dad). Mom wanted to let me know that on Mother's day, she's still very much there, being a mom.

WHAT'S ODD ABOUT THE SONG PLAYING? - The song was released in 1977, and although it was a number one country hit and top pop hit for Dolly, it's now 40 years old and you NEVER hear it!  So for that song to be mixed in among all of the other current music the restaurant was playing is unprecedented. I've never heard any songs older than those from 1990 in the restaurant (I was a radio DJ and memorized Blilboard music charts, if you're wondering how I know that)

WHY IS THE SONG IMPORTANT? When the song came out in 1977 and during the summer of 1978, when I was 15, I remember being at home on Saturday morning and helping clean the house. I was tidying up my younger brother's bedroom while listening to the American Top 40 with Casey Casem and "Here You Come Again" came on the radio. Mom was walking down the hallway and came in and sat on the bed asking what that song was - and I pulled up a chair. That's when we started slapping hands and knees in a back and forth game, to the rhythm of the song. We laughed about that for a long time.  Neither of us had ever forgotten that special 4 minutes and I'll always cherish it and that song.

So, THANKS, MOM! That is one of my favorite memories with you. Thanks for visiting on Mother's Day. Love you!

MyBook Review: A Paranormal Treasure: "Charleston's Ghosts" by James Caskey

As a writer of paranormal books (about my own experiences with Earth bound ghosts and spirits who
have crossed over), I've read a LOT of books in the genre. Many of them are about haunted places. Most recently, I enjoyed "Charleston's Ghosts" by James Caskey.
   This book stands out from most other books about haunted cities because the author is also an historian and it shows.
   The book is well-written and extremely well-researched. Caskey will relay a story that has become "Legend" and then he hunted for the facts to support it. Too often, whenever I go on "ghost walks" in cities I wonder just how true stories really are, and if they can be proven. Caskey provides that proof or says when there's no record.
   Since I write books about my own experiences, I am adamant about getting proof of the messages I receive so I have so much respect for this author.
   The book is filled with so many places in Charleston, South Carolina that I think if you are a paranormal investigator, you could spend a week there!
   The photos of the dwellings that accompany the hauntings (one in each chapter) allow the reader to envision the place and get a feeling for the story and occurrences.

A Haunted Playmate in Cahawba, Alabama

Young Herbert Kilpatrick that played with the ghost of an old country gentleman named Gatt in Cahawba, Alabama. Cahaba, also spelled Cahawba, was the first permanent state capital of Alabama from 1820 to 1825, and the county seat of Dallas County, Alabama until 1866.

One of the scariest stories we were told, was about Herbert the grandson of one descendants of the Kilpatrick family. Herbert spent the summer with his grandfather at Old Cahawba. When he returned home, he told countless stories about Gatt the gentleman at Old Cahawba who watched over him while he roamed the grounds. Herbert’s brother told him it was impossible for Gatt to have watched over him because Gatt died before he was born.

Haunting History

Old Cahawba was once a thriving town built at the heart and in between the Cahaba and Alabama rivers. This location would prove very lucrative for the cotton industry and the town would become one of the richest towns in the U.S. during the 1800s. Many of the white residents left Old Cahawba when the state capital was moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 1826. The factory in the town became a Union soldiers’ prison during the Civil Was. When the Civil War ended, Old Cahawba was settled by emancipated slaves and became a booming cotton town., By the 1890s Old Cahawba had become a ghost town. The Cahaba Foundation was founded in 2008 to help raise private donations to preserve the site. Today, Old Cahawba is an archaeological research site.

Old Cahawba is known as ‘Alabama’s most famous ghost town.’  The town is one of the most haunted places in the state according to the book Haunted Alabama Black Belt written by David Higdon and Brett Talley.

Many Signs from Jack the Cat in Spirit

Recently I received an email from Stephanie, whom heard my lecture in Salem, Mass. when I gave a

talk about how pets communicate from spirit. She wrote me to tell me about some amazing signs from her beloved cat in spirit. Here are her experiences: 

 

I lost my orange tabby, Jack, on Halloween after a short bout with some fast-acting cancer.  I'd had him since he was 4 months old and he was just 12 1/2 when he passed.  I still cry over him pretty much every day.  

I've had a couple of experiences similar to those that you spoke about - the first was the event after he passed away.  I had a very vivid dream that he had jumped up onto the bed but was there for only a moment.  He then jumped off and trotted out of the room (looking and moving all sleek and young and healthy) and I was able to reach out and run my hand along his back as he did so.  

 

(ROB'S NOTE: Being able to feel a spirit, even in a dream, is a sign of a much deeper connection - a very, very tight bond of love. That's what is called a "Visit" instead of just a dream. -  It takes a lot of energy for a spirit to provide those feelings, and that's a sign of the deep love you share.) 

Maybe a week or so later, also as I was asleep, I felt a warm lump against my back, where he liked to curl up.  Just recently, I thought I saw a shadow jumping into one of my closets.

(ROB'S NOTE: Feeling your cat or dog's spirit when you were sleeping or in twilight is also another strong sign that spirit is with you. Also, we see shadows of our pets and people because it takes too much energy to appear in full color).

Looking back on your talk, I'm trying to keep more open to signs that he might be trying to give me.  Every now and then, when I think of him, I hear/feel a purring in my right ear and have a vision of his freckled nose and whiskers right there.  I think the other cat who knew him (Chachi) still sees him every now and then.
