Roman Feast of Lemuria: Ghosts Walked Around

In ancient Roman times, this day, May 9th and two others, marked a day the dead would walk around. It was called Lemuria, and was recognized on three days, May 9, 11 and 13.
ghosts were said to walk with ancient romans on Lemuria
WHAT HAPPENED ON THESE DAYS? The days when the ghosts of the dead were out and about and Romans tried to keep them happy by walking barefoot and throwing black beans over one's shoulder at night. The head of each household had to do this nine times at midnight. The rest of the household would clash metal pots and tell the ghosts of the ancestors to go away.

Great Event on Spirit Signs at Imagine Yoga!

On Wednesday, May 3, I gave a talk about how to recognize signs from loved ones from the afterlife.  It was a full house!
If you live in Maryland, Imagine Yoga and Wellness Center at 3120 Belair Dr, Bowie, MD has classes in Yoga, Reiki, Past Life Regressions, Crystals and more. I was honored to give a talk there. My thanks to Jen, Linda and the staff for asking me to come.

A PREVIOUS PAST LIFE REGRESSION SESSION - Previously I attended a past life regression session at Imagine Yoga and it was amazing. Since we've all likely been here before, it's worth looking into one of those sessions. If you're attracted to some time in history or some place you've never been, it's likely you've lived there before in a previous life. For more information about Imagine Yoga:   Tel. 443-510-6308 www.imaginetheplace.com/

AN INTERESTING TIME - During the 90 minutes I was there, explained how to look for signs from the other side to prove our loved ones are still around us. I talked about how the logical mind dismisses signs from spirits and how spirits use electronics, nature, look- a-likes, and scents to communicate with us.

There were many great questions and many people had experiences, from seeing look alikes of people or pets who passed, to electronic disruptions, feeling the presence of a loved one's spirit around them, hearing music when there was none, and more. The thing that makes giving these talks interesting are the personal experiences from the folks who come to the talks, and there were many that evening. The bottom line is that everyone has these experiences and they should never be discounted or dismissed.

A Medium's Challenge: it's Sometimes Hard to Distinguish Parent vs. Grandparent

Grandparent vs. parent - which one in spirit?
As a medium, that is, someone who gets messages from the dead, either people or pets, it can be a challenge sometimes to distinguish between a Parent vs. Grandparent.

That's because if the grandparent was so loving and close to the person getting a reading, mediums may see them as parents. Case in point, my husband used to stay at his grandparents' house over the summer months every year as a kid. So, for those months, they were like parents to him. When a medium does a reading and sees an older woman or man coming through for him, they may identify his grandparents as "parents." Why? Because they were actually acting like his parents over the summer months for years.

How mediums wouldn't be confused is if the child didn't live with the grandparents, or of they had a somewhat distant relationship. In my case, one set of my grandparents were not close to me and my brothers. We never stayed over their house, they never cooked for us or took us anywhere. They were older and just wanted to live their lives without grandchildren around (it happens). So a medium like me would definitely identify them as grandparents because they're a step away from my actual parents.

Being a medium and getting messages or trying to figure out the identities of those in spirit is not an easy job. It's not like calling someone on Skype and asking their relationship. Sometimes mediums "See" the person in their minds (as I do) and feel a maternal or grandmaternal sense to identify them. Mediumship is a puzzle we have to put together, and we can only do that with the help from the person who is getting the message.

Tarot Tuesday: The Death Card: Let Something Go

Here's this week's Tarot lesson from my friend Joy Andreasen: The death card: Let Something Bad Go...

Today is a day to completely and finally let something or someone go out of your experience. So many times we allow toxic relationships or experiences to last way longer than they should. Every time we live a painful memory over and over in our head we are keeping it alive. Let it go. You know that old saying.. if you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it is yours. Today may be the day to say a final goodbye. Mourn the   loss of what you loved, and set it free and set yourself free.

Glen Grant's "Chick'n Skin" Paranormal Show (6 min video)

Last week I told you about Glen Grant from Hawaii's Paranormal community. A great storyteller and paranormal advocate. This is another episode from his 1990s Hawaii broadcast television show called "Chick'n Skin" (as in goosebumps that you experience in the presence of a ghost). Glen passed in 2003, but left these chilling stories behind.

Did you know - Glen Grant in the Hawaiian Paranormal Community?

A friend of mine from Hawaii recently told me about a legendary paranormal storyteller from Hawaii and some of his TV show videos are still on YouTube to enjoy. He was a host of a show called "Chick'n Skin" (like goosebumps experienced when a ghost is near you).
Glen Grant passed away at 56 in June 2003. According to the Honolulu Star Bulletin newspaper, "He was a Hawaiian who was best known as an expansive storyteller of local supernatural lore -- in print, with his popular obake and chicken skin tales, in person during tours of haunted Oahu locales, and on radio. But Grant was also an avid Hawaiiana historian, a small-businessman and active community member of the Moiliili he so loved. Ryan said he had just been elected to the center's board in January.
Grant, business partner Jill Staas and friends ran the popular "Honolulu Timewalks" and "Ghostbusters" walking tours from offices in the century-old Kamada Building near the corner of University Avenue and South King Street, next door to their bookshop-coffee bar the Haunt."

Here's a short video from his Chick'n Skin TV show that will definitely give you "chicken skin."

If you haven't heard about this new paranormal-themed show...
Rob Lowe Signed Up for a Ghost-Hunting Reality Show to Stay Close With His Sons

By

Here comes A and E to ruin your childhood with a reality TV Ghostbusters starring Rob Lowe and his two 20-something sons. The network announced today that it green-lit The Lowe Files, a nine-episode series that will take Rob, Matthew, and John Owen Lowe on a tour of the spookiest parts of the U.S. Did you know that Rob Lowe believes in ghosts? Because according to A&E’s press release, he’s obsessed:
Since I was a kid I’ve loved unexplained legends, strange phenomena and the scary, supernatural stories told around campfires. When I became a father I shared those tales with my two sons. Together we bonded over Bigfoot, UFO’s, and every creepy and bizarre story we could find, passionately debating if they were real…or not. And we swore that someday the three of us would go on our own adventure to find out. That day has come.
See, The Lowe Files isn’t really about ghosts; it’s about fatherhood. Per A&E’s Elaine Frontain Bryant, “Their explorations will certainly lead them to dynamic and exciting places, but a nostalgic journey for a father and his sons is what’s at the heart of the series’ underlying mission.” Most parents just guilt their kids into coming home for the holidays to stave off empty-nest syndrome, but sure, a reality show also works.

Tarot Tuesday: 3 of Cups: Get together with friends and celebrate

Here's this week's Tarot lesson from my friend Joy Andreasen.

Today might be a day to get together with friends and celebrate or perhaps just blow off some steam. There is never a bad time to find your tribe and just be together. In today's society sometimes we have a tendency to isolate ourselves from human contact. Our biggest communications sometime tend to be done electronically, through texting or social media. There is much to be said for actual face time, spent in the company of others. Perhaps a social gathering is in order. Even a meal spent together brings a sense of community and intimacy. Today find some to get together with people you love.

Description: The Three of Cups represents groups coming together to focus on a common emotional goal. People reach out emotionally to one another. It speaks of a sense of community, and can indicate the time to get more involved by helping. An inner passion for caring may be discovered, and energy put forth toward a goal will be positive and nurturing. It can also signal that this is the time to reach out if things have been particularly rough in the past. This card stands for all forms of support including formal organizations such as counseling or other social services. It's important that when the need for support is recognized that action is taken. This is the best time to do that. Reversed, the Three of Cups suggests that isolation from others is occurring. It is the time to take charge of the situation and to get out into the community. Consider joining a group or organization, and if the need for support is present, seek out the necessary resources.
