It is important to recognize that psychic ability is an inborn,
universal, human capability. A natural extension of our other faculties
such as – sight, hearing, speech, touch and smell. Some people are born
with a strong ability to perceive things that most of us cannot, at
least not easily. People who exhibit strong psychic ability from the
beginning, also tend to have other traits; Such as inborn
right-brainedness, dyslexia, musical or artistic ability, emotional
sensitivity, imaginative and strong spiritual leanings from a very young
age. With focus and awareness however, there is no reason why we all
cannot expand our current level of psychic ability to an impressive
extent.
Psychic abilities come under the following basic categories:
Clairvoyance: means ‘clear seeing’. It is the ability to
visually see through Psychic senses. Someone with this gift sees images,
shapes, colours, still pictures, moving pictures, etc that are not seen
by others nor seen by ordinary eyesight.
Clairsentience: means “clear feeling” and relates to the
sense of touch. It is the ability to perceive energy fields through
physical sensations using Psychic senses. This includes auras,
vibrations, and the presence of entities. When you get a “gut feeling”
about something, you are using your clairsentience.
Clairaudience: means ‘clear hearing’. It is the ability to
hear through Psychic senses. in other words, to hear in a paranormal
way. Someone with this gift hears sounds, words, voices, and/or ideas
through the hearing centre of the brain. There are two forms of
clairaudience. The first form is hearing thoughts within ourselves,
which sounds the same as when we talk to ourselves. The second, is
through hearing at a higher vibratory level. This the vibration of the
spirit world.
So how can we expand our psychic ability?
The first step is to learn the art of relaxation and meditation. To
discover your inner power and how to communicate with it. Learn to know
your inner self. You must have faith in, accept and acknowledge your
intuitive senses. To relax is something we all know how to do to a
certain extent. But rarely do we relax properly. The body may be still
and in repose, but the mind is often still busy. Racing ahead, thinking
of 101 things that need to be done. To allow the psychic senses to be in
a receptive state, the mind needs to be still and quiet. If it is not,
we cannot tune in to, or hear what our inner voice is trying to show or
tell us.
The most powerful tool we have at our disposal for quietening the
mind is meditation. There are various techniques for doing this.
Buddhist techniques, such as the breath meditation is but one. With this
method, you focus so strongly on your breathing that all other thoughts
recede. Visualization is another way of quietening the mind. One of the
easiest ways of using visualization is to hold an image in your mind,
such as a candle or an image of a place where you have always felt calm
and at peace. A sunny day at the beach. Or sitting in a sunlight grove,
breathing in the scents of the earth and listening to the sounds of
nature. Music can also be very relaxing. Lie quietly, listening to a
favourite piece of music. All these things will help to still your
thoughts and allow you to drift gently.
The higher self: Is believed to be the aspect of ourselves that is
connected to the universal source of divine wisdom and energy. While
meditating, you are opening up a channel between your physical mind and
your higher mind. Keep a diary or journal, where you can record any
thoughts, images, and feelings that you receive while in this state.
Another good source of intuitive and psychic information is our dreams.
When we dream, the conscious mind recedes and the unconscious mind
becomes dominant. While asleep, we are very open to the power of thought
and guidance from spirit.
In the dream-state, people who would not consider themselves to be
Clairvoyant or Mediumistic, have been known to receive messages from
loved ones in spirit, intuitive guidance and inspiration. Record your
dreams, write down every bit of information you can remember. The time
of day, the weather, the people you see. All will have symbolic meaning.
Symbolism is the oldest form of communication, as the images will have
universal meaning. Which is a powerful way of communicating in such a
way that anyone, no matter what their language, belief system and
cultural background is, will understand.
