Grief is a funny old beast, something that we never know how we’re going to deal with until we are hit with it. It's a long, winding process that can rear its ugly head at any time when you least expect it.

Until you experience a loss of someone close to you, it’s impossible to know how you will feel or how you will react. An extremely difficult one to navigate, so many of us find comfort in various resources, books being one of the most notable places to start.

Book Authority identifies and rates the best books in the world based on recommendations by experts and their community of readers. They compiled some of the most popular, best-selling books to aid people in understanding grief and we’ve put together a little introduction for each book to give you a taste of what each is about and how they can help.

Little Matches -A Memoir of Grief and Light An emotionally raw memoir that illuminates the story of a mother’s grief after the loss of her adult child. The book considers the hope of soulful connections that transcend the boundary of life and death.

Haunted Trails #3 Long Path, New York

The Travel channel did a feature about Haunted Trails, and this is the third installment

Long Path, New York

It’s not the easiest to find, but follow the Long Path to Thiells in Rockland County and it will eventually pass Letchworth Village Cemetery, a sprawling plot with hundreds of T-shaped markers instead of tombstones. The markers bear numbers, not names, and serves as the final resting place for residents of Letchworth Village, a nearby mental institution built in 1911 for the “epileptic and feeble-minded.” The asylum housed mostly children, who lived in overcrowded conditions and were subjected to clinical drug trials—most notoriously an experimental polio vaccine. Patients were also victims of abuse and extreme neglect, which was documented by ABC News in the ‘70s.

AND THIS SITE ON THE SAME PATH

Letchworth shut down in 1996 and has since fallen into ruin, although many buildings, including the hospital wing, are still intact. Trespassing is illegal, but Ghost Adventures was able to film an episode here. The crew documented being pushed, spotting an unexplained shadow, and hearing threatening voices, among other eerie encounters.

ATTN: Animal Rescues; I will Give a FREE Lecture (Pets and the Afterlife) for you as a Fundraiser!

If you or anyone you know is connected to an animal rescue or shelter and would like me to give a  free lecture on how pets communicate from the afterlife, based on my 3 Amazon-best-selling books "Pets and the Afterlife 1,2 and 3," contact me at Rgutro@gmail.com.

HOW IT WORKS
ABOUT ME
I'm a meteorologist, but since I was a child I've had a gift to be able to communicate with those who passed. In 2005, when my puppy Buzz passed I've been able to communicate with all domesticated pets who have passed. So, I've written  3 books to teach others how to recognize the signs from their own pets.

ABOUT THE EVENT
My lectures are about 45 minutes and are interactive with audience participation because you'd be surprised how many people have their own experiences. As a scientist in my day job, my books are based on energy. If people have religious beliefs or no beliefs, they can apply them to the concepts. There's usually a lot of healing and understanding that happens!
RAISED UP TO $1,800 IN ONE DAY!
You may want to speak with Megan Williams at Lakes Region Humane Society (LRHS) in Ossippee or Charlotte Williams at Animal Rescue League of NH (ARLNH) in Bedford to get their reaction on these lectures that I have done in BOTH rescues in 2018, 2019 and on-line in 2020. In 2018, ARLNH wound up having me do 3 lectures and raised about $1800 for them in one afternoon!

NO COST TO SHELTERS
There is NO charge to rescues and shelters. They just organize the event, provide a space  (OR we can do it On-line as a "Live" event), collect the registration fees and host the event. So rescues advertise and charge for it (ARLNH and LRHS charged $20 per person, but you can charge what you feel is affordable), **If a rescue could cover a hotel, that would be appreciated, but not mandatory**

WHY I DO IT ON MY WEEKENDS
I do this to help people heal from their grief and to help animal rescues raise money. Fortunately, I have a good daytime job that enables me to pay for transportation to rescues on some weekends to do this.
I ONLY ASK TO SELL MY BOOKS
I just ask that I can sell my books at the event for $10 each (to help pay for my travel) or ask that the rescue tells attendees about them and where to find them on Amazon.com.   I hope to visit in person or on-line and help raise funds for your rescue next year! Sincerely,
Rob Gutro

Royal Ghost Stories: Anne Boleyn

In my book "Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation" I wrote about my encounter with the ghost of Anne Boleyn, one of Henry VIII's wives in the Tower of London. Recently, Royal Central UK did a story about others who met Anne's ghost in the very same place, Here's the story (and a link follows to my book about my encounter with Anne and many other ghosts of England>>>

25th October 2020

King Henry VIII’s second wife, Anne Boleyn. The former queen – who was also the mother of Queen Elizabeth I – was accused of adultery and beheaded at the Tower of London on 19 May 1536. She is said to be buried at the church of St Peter Ad Vincula within the Tower’s walls.

Since her death almost 500 years ago, there have been countless reports of ghostly activity at several homes and palaces associated with Anne Boleyn, many of which have been attributed to re-appearances of the former queen.

A famous example was in 1864 when Captain J. D. Dundas was living in the Tower of London. The story goes that one day he looked out of the window and noticed a Yeoman Warder acting strangely whilst standing in the courtyard where Anne Boleyn had been beheaded. He appeared to challenge something, which Dundas said: “Looked like a whitish, female figure sliding towards the soldier”. The guard charged through the form with his bayonet, then fainted. He was only saved from a prison sentence because Dundas testified as a witness at his court-martial.

Another sighting at the tower occurred within Anne’s final resting place of the church of St Peter Ad Vincula. The guard on duty said that he saw a “flickering light inside late one night”. Plagued by curiosity, the Captain of the Guard climbed a ladder to see inside. He recalled seeing a procession of Ladies and Knights in Tudor-style dress – led by Anne Boleyn – parading down the aisle of the chapel. He vividly remembered the former queen stopping by her grave in front of the altar before disappearing.

The Tower of London is not the only place where Anne’s ghost has been spotted. In what sounds like something straight out of horror film, an apparition of her headless body has been seen numerous times at Windsor Castle, running through the halls in the Dean’s Cloister whilst clutching her severed, screaming head.

Ghosts of England: On a Medium's Vacation

What happens when a medium goes on vacation? Can a medium simply switch off their ability at will? Well…not exactly.Rob Gutro is a medium/author/paranormal investigator and a scientist who has written 4 books about his encounters with human and animal ghosts and spirits. In this book, you will read about his experiences on two separate trips to the United Kingdom. England’s rich history and many epic battles have caused an over-abundance of residual emotional energy. Everywhere he traveled, he had a paranormal experience. He explored royal palaces and spent the night in haunted castles. He encountered the ghosts of historical figures including a queen, a prince, and a nobleman; and several ghosts even shared their pain of death experience with him.

A Furry Kind of Sign from Spirit - Read Pets and the Afterlife by Rob Gutro

Did you find some of your cat's or dog's fur a year after they passed? That's not a coincidence. It was dropped by your dog or cat in spirit (unless you're not a tidy housekeeper!) on purpose, so you would know they're still around. You'd be surprised to learn what they can do from spirit, and you can read about many ways pets try to communicate with is from the other side in Rob Gutro's Pets and the Afterlife books.

Are you grieving after the loss of your dog or cat?  These books can help you work through your grief by showing you how their spirits are still very much around.

The love we share with our pets never dies, and there's proof that our pets do communicate with us from the other side, just as people do who pass. I'm a scientist, medium, author and paranormal investigator who has had many experiences with ghosts and spirits, both pets and people, who have communicated messages that helped prove their identity. I've written Pets and the Afterlife 1, 2 and 3 to teach people how to recognize the signs from their pets in spirit.

Pet parents like me think about and mourn the loss of their pets often. Sometimes the grief feels inconsolable. One way to work through that grief is to understand that our pets are around us in spirit from time to time and visit us. You just need to be able to recognize those signs. In my 3 books I explain many of the ways that pets communicate with the living, to convey their presence. Newly published "Pets and the Afterlife 3: Messages from Spirit Dogs" also contains a special chapter on ways to deal with grief (written by a licensed Clinical Psychologist).

I've received emails from people around the world who have confirmed signs from their pets and have received comfort knowing their pets are very much around in spirit from time to time.

Both are available on Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle.:

Paranormal Q&A: How do you know if you're picking up words from a spirit ?Q&A: What About the Afterlife, Heaven and Hell?

Here's a  question that I received via email, and my response.

QUESTION:   I believe that, in the afterlife there is no "heaven" and no "hell". What we experience after death has a lot to do with what we believe while on earth and, if at death, a person believes in hell and that he or she belongs there that reality will be created by that person.

ANSWER:  I agree. "Heaven" and "Hell" are man-made ideals. Joining the energies that run through the universe and crossing that barrier from Earth (into the light) can be thought akin to a "heaven" or paradise if you will.  "Hell" is actually being stranded on earth as a ghost, where you can't communicate with the spirits- it's like torture for eternity.

You don't have to believe in a religion to believe in the afterlife. It's all about energy.

Energy cannot be destroyed only transformed, and our memories, personality and consciousness become an entity of energy after our physical bodies die. Then we make a choice to stay here on Earth as a ghost or cross into the light- passing the Earthly barrier to join the energies of the cosmos (you can call it heaven, paradise, Valhalla, whatever you wish).

Haunted Trails #2: Chilnualna Falls Trail, California

The Travel channel did a feature about Haunted Trails, and this is the second installment. Chilnualna Falls Trail, California.

Chilnualna Falls Trail, California Yosemite National Park is home to some of the country’s most beautiful (and deadly) hiking paths. The Mist Trail is more popular for its two gushing waterfalls, but the Chilnualna Falls Trail is more haunted (and boasts three waterfalls). The difficult 8.4-mile loop passes Grouse Lake, where, according to Awahnechee tribal legend, the cries of a young boy who drowned in the lake can still be heard, and anyone who jumps into the lake looking for the boy will also drown.

AND THIS SITE ALONG THE PATH-   The other American Indian legend awaits at the highest waterfall, where an evil spirit named Pohono pushes those who get too close over the 240-foot edge. (It goes without saying, but never walk too close to the edge of a waterfall in the first place for safety reasons.)

UK Hauntings: The ghost of Thornton's in Chester

In the town of Chester, United Kingdom, there's a chocolate store called Thornton's that has a resident ghost. The store chain announced this past March that it would be closing all of their stores this year, but one in particular will apparently be opened all the time, at least for the ghost who lives in it.  If you're interested in other Ghosts in England, check out my book about MY experiences when I went on vacation there - it's called "Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation."  Here's the story about the Chester ghost from Chester Live UK on March 23, 2021 (click for link)

(Photo: Thornton's in Chester, UK. Credit: Chester live.UK)

The ghost of Thornton's in Chester

A soon-to-be-closed chocolate store in Chester is said to be haunted by a mysterious ghost. It was announced recently that Thorntons will be closing all 61 of its stores in the UK.

The closures will see both the Cheshire Oaks store and Eastgate Street store in Chester close their doors to customers.

However, what many people don't know is that the site of the Eastgate Street store is the location of an eerie tale.

Folklore says that Sarah, a young lady living on Eastgate Street in the late 18th or early 19th century, fell in love with a man called Wilhelm who ended up jilting her on their wedding day.

Sarah was said to be so devastated at being jilted that she returned to her home and hung herself, causing havoc on the premises ever since.

She has never been physically seen, but it is said she has made her presence very much known over the years.

According to an article called Parascience, chronicling the ghosts of Chester, one of the shop's managers once experienced 'a possession' when staff spotted her coming down the stairs singing an unknown song and holding her hands out as if lifting a long and heavy dress in order to descend the stairs.

The manager can offer no explanation for this, but other strange things continued to occur.

Shortly after this incident, an American tourist who dismissed the stories as 'rubbish,' was immediately pushed down the stairs by an 'invisible hand.'

Then an electrician who went to read the meter in the cellar was not down there for long before he ran back up the stairs.

Rob Gutro's book "Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation" is available in paperback and E-book  on Amazon.com UNDER $10 dollars!
