A Review of my "Pets and the Afterlife" Talk from the MD Paranormal Conference

Last weekend I gave a talk called "Pets and the Afterlife: How they communicate from spirit" at the Maryland Paranormal Conference. Following is an email I received about the talk that just made my day.

Wow! the talk you gave on Pets in the Afterlife really made me reminisce.  It was so insightful. Ed told me you find it difficult to give the talk at times and I can see why.  I think the entire audience was extremely moved. To me, it was absolutely the number one presentation of the day.  Thank you for agreeing to do it.

I will enjoy reading your Pets in the Afterlife books.  Thank you also for the Doxie rescue info.  Maybe my neighbor can finally find his own darling Doxie.

In the news: Brazil’s President Moved Out of the Presidential Palace Because of Its ‘Energy’ and ‘Ghosts’

Palácio da Alvorada is the official residence of the President of Brazil.

Ghosts can haunt anyplace and historic buildings where politics are discussed are usually active places for them to linger. That's because some politicians lived for their work, and decided to never leave. Here's one recent story of ghosts that inspired the president of one country to move out of the presidential palace!

In August of 2016, Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff was impeached and her vice-president, Michel Temer, took her place. As part of his new position, Temer, 76, and wife Marcella, 33, moved into the official presidential residence, Alvorada Palace — but then moved back to the vice-president’s residence, Jaburu Palace, shortly afterward. And he has a very good, very relatable reason for the relocation: ghosts.

“I felt something strange there. I wasn’t able to sleep right from the first night. The energy wasn’t good,” he reportedly told Brazilian news outlet Veja. “We even started to wonder: Could there be ghosts?”

The U.K. Independent Newspaper quoted Temer: "Marcela felt the same thing. Only Michelzinho, who went running from one end to the other, liked it."  

He joked that they had even started to wonder whether there were ghosts in the modernist palace which was inaugurated in 1958.

The Palácio da Alvorada is the official residence of the President of Brazil. It is located in the national capital of Brasília, on a peninsula at the margins of Paranoá Lake.

Q&A: Does Keeping Ashes Hold a Soul Back?

Here's a question I received via email and my response about if you keep someone's ashes, do they trap a soul.

Q: Is there a possibility that keeping a loved one's ashes at home would create difficulties for their spirit into moving on to the light and such?  

A: No. Keeping the ashes of a loved one is just keeping a physical remnant of them. Their spirit has already crossed over.  When the physical body dies, or just before it dies, the soul, that is, memories, personality and knowledge combines with the physical energy in the body and leaves it. We make a choice to stay Earthbound as a ghost or cross over as a spirit and join the energies of the universe/heaven/paradise, etc. So your loved one has already crossed over or stayed on Earth as a ghost, which is very uncommon.

Great time at Maryland Paranormal Conference !

Wow. What a great day. I gave 2 talks at the MARYLAND PARANORMAL CONFERENCE today in Gambrills, Maryland.
   This conference was the first one, and over 100 people attended, there were 4 other speakers and several paranormal-related vendors.
    I gave a talk about the famous Inspired Ghost Tracking "Double Murder Ghost Investigation" followed by Pets and the Afterlife: How they Communicate with the Living."

  A big thanks to Ed Hrunemi and Peter Franks who put the event together, got the speakers and arranged everything.

   It was good to see some friends in the paranormal community, too, like Peter Resta and Janie Daum, among others.

How to See the Eclipse: Create a Pinhole Viewer, Watch On-line, etc

As a scientist I thought I'd share the ways you can enjoy the eclipse today. BTW, its ridiculous to believe the claims of some "religious" extremists people" who claim it's the world's end. Eclipses happen all the time. Here's how you can watch it.

 How to See the Eclipse: Create a Pinhole Viewer, Watch On-line, etc

Since the first total Eclipse that traverses the U.S. from west to east happens today (and it's the first time in 99 years), here are some resources to help you experience it.

Eclipse path of totality across the USA on August 21, 2017

RULES: Never look directly at the Sun without proper eye protection. You can seriously hurt your eyes and even go blind.

Projecting the Sun through a box projector, or using binoculars or telescope, or simply 2 pieces of card is a safe and easy way to view a solar eclipse.

DIY: Simple Card Projector:  The simplest and quickest way to safely project the Sun is with a projector made from only 2 pieces of card or paper.

You Need:  2 pieces of stiff white cardboard, e.g. 2 paper plates; alternatively, 2 sheets of plain white paper;  a thumbtack, a sharp pin, or a needle

What to Do:

Using 2 pieces of cardboard or paper you can project an image of the Sun that does not hurt your eyes.

1. To make a quick version of the pinhole projector, take a sheet of paper and make a tiny hole in the middle of it using a pin or a thumbtack. Make sure that the hole is round and smooth.
2. With your back towards the Sun, hold 1 piece of paper above your shoulder allowing the Sun to shine on the paper.
3. The 2nd sheet of paper will act as a screen. Hold it at a distance, and you will see an inverted image of the Sun projected on the paper screen through the pinhole.
4. To make the image of the Sun larger, hold the screen paper further away from the paper with the pinhole.

A box projector works on the same principles, it requires a little more time and a few extra items to construct, but it is more sturdy.

This book invaluable to gain a greater understanding that when a pet dies that all is not lost. In fact they are still around and with you. There are so many evidences in this book from numerous sources.
The book has been a great comfort to me and I have already witnessed amazing signs from Pie, my dog, in spirit and continue to do so.
The book is really well written and highly recommended.

A Look at Ghosts and Spirits and Religions vs. Spirituality

Today we'll look at religion and spirituality. This is a serious issue because being too steadfast in a belief has caused people to remain Earthbound.  

RELIGIONS AND SPIRITUALITY
Most people use religion as a base to develop a faith. Then they grow from it. That's the way it should be, if you want to grow spiritually. Remember that religions were all conceived by mankind. Spirituality is the energies within and around us. 

That's not saying you can't belong to a religion and be spiritual. You can, although most people leave religions because of constraints.

CONSTRAINTS I ENCOUNTERED - As a former catholic, when I was growing up I was told that talking to the dead is actually talking to the "devil." (Baptist religions still believe this) That's ridiculous. It's also something that was discouraged because the churches couldn't control what you heard.   Besides, I have no "evil motive" when I convey messages. They are messages from loved ones in spirit (people and pets). I don't know the people I get messages for and often never see them again.
*What's new in 2015: Britain's Psychic World newspaper in its July edition says there are "Major changes to Roman Catholic views as The Vatican says it is OK to talk to the Dead." - per Rev. Gino Concetti, chief theological commentator for the Vatican Italian journal. "L'Osservatore Romano".

DANGERS - As someone who has been able to communicate with ghosts and spirits since I was 13, I've heard a lot from people on the other side about how constraints of religion made their life and the lives of the people around them very unpleasant (during their time on Earth).  Often times, an Earth-bound ghost or spirit will ask their family or friends for forgiveness because the ghost or spirit mis-treated others because of their strict religious beliefs.

WHY IS A MORE "CONSERVATIVE RELIGIOUS" PERSON MORE LIKELY TO BE AN EARTH-BOUND GHOST? - Religions teach that if you do something wrong in life and feel like you can't be forgiven, or generally live your life as a not-so-good, not-so-caring person, you'll go to "Hell."  So, whenever very "religious" people die, often times I've encountered them as ghosts because they are horrified that they will see hell on the other side of the light (which is ridiculous). So, people who are "conservative religious" are afraid to go into the light once they pass for fear of going to a hell. Hell, ironically, is remaining trapped as an Earth-bound ghost for eternity.

SIDE NOTE ABOUT THE DANGERS OF BEING SO "STRICT" IN A BELIEF-  
1) A friend's father was an ultra-conservative Baptist who made his family's life miserable. He didn't mind beating his kids either "in Jesus' name," and because his preacher told him it was acceptable to do so (this was in the 1960s and 1970s). He also didn't mind giving away a lot of the family's income to the church, so they struggled to pay bills. That's warped and dangerous.  If a religion causes someone to put their church before the equal and kind treatment of others, than it's a dangerous "religion." 
DANGERS TODAY: Even today, there are still a few "preachers" who have told parents it's acceptable to beat up children who are gay, in the name of Jesus. Look it up on the Internet. It's appalling.

2) Another friend who is gay, was put through an exorcism by his ultra-conservative religious parents. That ridiculous act was emotionally traumatic to my friend as a young man. This is an extreme case where a sect of religion warped the views of people.

3) Many "ultra-conservative religious" people across the U.S. who learned their child is gay either threw the kids out on the street  (which is pure evil) in the name of their god, or have driven their children to suicide. I know several friends who wanted to commit suicide because of parents who were so strict in their religious beliefs. 
    So, there's a danger in being so "firm" in your beliefs, especially when it opens the door to harm others in any way. Grow from your faith, welcome and love all others, especially those who are unlike you. Show the LOVING side of your religion. Accept everyone. Love everyone. Put yourself in their shoes.
