(5 min.Video) 60 Minutes Episode: The science of dog intelligence

One of the things that I stress in my book "Pets and the Afterlife" is the intelligence of dogs (and cats). That intelligence and emotion allows them to communicate with us from the other side.

Recently Anderson Cooper did a story about the Intelligence of Dogs on the TV show 60 Minutes, that conveys just how intelligent and emotional they really are. They are just as intelligent and emotional as human children.
To watch the 5 minute report see below. Then check out my book "Pets and the Afterlife."

Ghost Footage Captured In England’s Tutbury Castle!

This  story appeared in England's Inquisitor.com and the video is pretty startling. See what you think.- Rob

Ghost Footage Captured In England’s Tutbury Castle: Ghost Shadow Terrifies And Baffles Witnesses (Video)

England, ghosts, haunted castles
As cameras and video have become more and more prevalent in recent years, so too has captured footage of possible paranormal entities, activities and events.
Unfortunately, while some footage of subjects like UFOs, Bigfoot, and ghosts are pretty stunning, most are blurry, shaky or too dark to provide anything worthwhile. And even worse are the complete fabrications and hoaxes made possible by today’s digital technology.
But a famous ghost known as the Keeper Ghost seems to have recently been legitimately captured on film by a small TV crew at the centuries-old Tutbury Castle in England. The small crew was at first terrified, then left searching for an explanation as to what the clearly seen shadowy ghost possibly could have been.
<noscript><iframe width="500" height="281" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/tDeh_MBX6cQ?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></noscript>
According to NJ.com, the Tutbury Castle’s Keeper Ghost footage was captured during the taping of a paranormal show, The Past Hunters.
The stunning and eerie clip opens with Past Hunters’ co-director Bex Palmer, and medium Derek Acorah, having a Tutbury Castle chat when Palmer suddenly jumps and points, clinging to Acorah’s arm as the camera swings around toward the wall and what appears to be a large and shadowy ghost figure.
The ghost shadow almost seems to observe the two for a moment, pausing, before drifting toward the corner of the room and fading into the wall.
According to Palmer, a shadowy Keeper Ghost has long been reported in Tutbury castle, reports that match what she and Acorah saw.

VIDEO: https://youtu.be/tDeh_MBX6cQ

Visitors to Tutbury Castle have also often reported seeing other ghostly figures, as well as hearing footsteps and other noises, phenomena that Palmer says preceded their seeing the shadowy Keeper Ghost when they first attempted to start filming in the castle.
“We then began to record the introduction to the episode but were drowned out by tapping, banging and footsteps. They came from out of nowhere and we knew we were the only people in the castle at the time. It was just us and our two crew members in the room. We tried to find the source of the noise but it quickly went deathly quiet.”
Questions raised by NJ.com writer, Kelly Roncace, regarding the authenticity of this captured shadow of the Keeper Ghost include that it could have simply been the shadow of one of the crew. Roncace also questions the light source and how the shadow could be seen even though its seems the footage was shot using “night-vision.”
Though she never heard these questions, Palmer answered both, explaining to the Mirror that a candle was burning in the room when the Keeper Ghost shadow showed up on the wall, and that there was no way the shadow could have been cast by anyone from their team.
“At around 11pm, Sean (the cameraman) went next door into the King’s Bedroom to set up a locked-off camera on a trigger object which would hopefully detect any activity. Derek was talking me through the energy in the room when I spotted the shadow over his shoulder by candlelight… I’ve seen a lot of things but I still react the same way every time – I clutched onto him, petrified. The figure stood there for a while, made its way across the room as though it was coming towards us and we then lost sight of it… To be sure what we’d seen wasn’t a shadow from one of the team, the cameraman swooped around the room with the camera to check (and) no-one else was there.”
Palmer emphasized also that her team is unsure if ghosts exist and generally try to find reasonable explanations for ghost sightings.
“We normally like to try and debunk things that we see because we still sit on the fence when it comes to ghosts, but we don’t think there’s any other explanation for what we saw.”
So until some other explanation surfaces, for the time being it seems that the shadowy Keeper Ghost does haunt the halls of Tutbury Castle, reflecting nearly 1,000 years of the castle’s haunted history.

Sign from a Cat in Spirit: an an Anniversary

On July 8, this message was posted to my facebook page - and provides a good
example of how spirits communicate with us on birthdays, anniversaries or holidays.
Stacie wrote.
Hi Rob! Today is the 3 year anniversary of our beloved dearly departed "Mr. D"'s passing. Jeff and I have been thinking a lot about him lately.

Would you believe that while cleaning a blanket that was very similar to Mr. D's favorite blanket the other day, a butterfly landed on the blanket I was cleaning... sat there for a minute, then flew and landed on my leg for a minute or two, then flew to the nearby deck railing and sat there a while while I was working. I don't think I have ever had a butterfly land on me before!

Well, of course I know you would believe it. Thank you for informing me of signs to look for... I know that was Mr. D's doing again. Absolutely amazing. I feel so blessed to have had him in my life and STILL have him in my life.

A Musical Sign from Spirit!

Music is a way spirits communicate
My friend Merle in Canada wrote me last week and told me that the spirit of her late husband made himself known again, as he does every year on what would have been their Wedding Anniversary. Her husband Stan comes through in a number of ways, and one way he gets the message that he's still around and his love connects them forever - is through music.

Merle wrote:
 Well, it happened again!
If Stan was still alive, today would have been our 42nd wedding anniversary.  I turned on the radio hoping to hear “our song”.... sure enough, just after the 9 a.m. news, it came on!
Good Morning Starshine.  I’m sure it was Stan’s way of letting me know he hasn’t forgotten.
I must admit I hear it occasionally on my favourite radio station {oldies}, but each time it’s a ‘special day’ – it seems to come on in the morning. I was blown away this a.m.

Meet Milo! A lovable 11 yr old red Dachshund available for adoption through CCDR

Since I gave a talk this past weekend about Pets and the Afterlife, I wanted to share info about an adoptable dog that I helped rescue last weekend  through Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue.

Meet Milo!   A week ago Sunday, we were the last in the transport leg for two senior Dachshunds who were brought into the rescue (from a divorced home). Now you can "Meet" them- through this biography, photos and video I put together to help get them adopted.

Milo is a lovable (and overweight), red long-haired dachshund. He isadoptable thru c2cdr.org. he's on line now.

MEET MILO

Hi I'm Milo!  I'm a senior male dog with a super-sweet personality. I'm a very docile red long-haired (mostly my tail) dachshund registered with the American Canine Association. I LOVE to take life easy. Life is a gift, and I'm a mellow guy. In fact, I'm cuddler and will come up to you and sit on your lap if you're sitting on the floor.

Sadly, I'm a victim of a divorce (like my brother Max, an 11 year old black and tan doxie also up for adoption) where my human parents split and I was placed in a foster home.

I really need to be in a home with another dog. I grew up with Max and am not happy unless I have another dog around.

I LOVE food.. I mean I really love food.  I confess I've eaten some of my brother's food, so I'm about 24 pounds. I need to lose weight and working on it. I'm neutered, heartworm negative and up to date on all vaccinations through March 2016! My teeth are in good shape and I'm healthy except for the weight thing, but we all like treats. I take heartworm and flea preventative on the 21st of each month.

I'm a happy guy who loves slow walks!
I normally eat twice a day, around 7 am and 6 p.m. Before bedtime, if you get out a milk bone I will stop whatever he's doing to jump into my bed. Then, if you partially cover the crate with a blanket, it makes me feel secure so I can sleep through the night.

I don't mind taking a bath, and getting my nails trimmed is no big deal (although a lot of dachshunds don't like it). That's how easy going I am!

I came into the rescue on Aug. 2, 2015 with my 11 year old brother Max (and we grew up together, so if you're looking for a pair of sweet seniors, we would love to be adopted together).

Milo is adoptable at Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue for an adoption fee of $150. For information go to: c2cdr.org. The adoption fee helps reimburse the rescue for all the up-front medical costs, vaccines, spay/neutering, etc. that are done to get dogs healthy and adoption ready. Meet Max: A Senior (11 yr) old Dachshund up for Adoption through CCDR

Met Max!
I wanted to highlight my own Foster dog who is available for adoption through Coast to Coast Dachshund rescue.

Last  Sunday, we were the last in the transport leg for two senior Dachshunds who were  brought into the rescue (from a divorced home). Now you can "Meet" them- through this biography, photos and video I put together to help get them adopted.

Milo (his brother - the red dachshund pictured with him) went to another foster home.
11 yr old Max relaxed and has fit in with our 3 canine kids. He is adoptable thru c2cdr.org. he's on line now.

MEET MAX!

Max Relax
Hi I'm Max!  I'm an active, happy 11 year old neutered male black and tan longhaired Dachshund looking for a forever home. I'm 18 pounds of fun and I come with a Pedigree! How cool.

I really need to be in a home with another dog. I grew up with Max and am not happy unless I have another dog around.

I love, love, love squeaky toys, rope toys, walks, chasing balls in the backyard and I love to cuddle. I'm okay with kids. I'm neutered, heartworm negative and up to date on all vaccinations through March 2016! My teeth are in good shape and I'm healthy except for the weight thing, but we all like treats.

I do have a heart murmur, so brushing my teeth to keep them clean is essential.  That doesn't stop me from bringing my tennis ball to you for lots of play, daily!

I take heartworm and flea preventative on the 21st of each month.

My birthday is February 6, 2004.

Sadly, I'm a victim of a divorce (like my brother Milo, an 11 year old red doxie also up for adoption) where my human parents split and I was placed in a foster home.

I normally eat twice a day, around 7 am and 6 p.m. Before bedtime, if you get out a milk bone I will stop whatever he's doing to jump into my bed. Then, if you partially cover the crate with a blanket, it makes me feel secure so I can sleep through the night.

In the news! Dog-gone fun at Save-A-Stray fundraiser!

Dog-gone fun at Save-A-Stray fundraiser
Rob Gutro considers himself a superhero. He doesn’t stop runaway trains, or leap skyscrapers. He doesn’t even wear a bodysuit.
But if he did, it would probably have a paw print on the chest.
Gutro is an author, medium and paranormal investigator who helps people recognize communication from their loved ones who have died — especially loved ones of the four-legged and furry variety.
Rob and his dog Tyler
“I’m a big superhero fan, a big comic book fan and I look at it (my ability) as a superpower because I have an ability most people don’t have and I’m able to provide proof and comfort to people,” Gutro said. “I think that’s a pretty cool gift.”
Gutro is a special guest at a fundraiser Saturday for Adirondack Save-A-Stray, a Corinth animal shelter that finds homes for about 1,500 animals a year.

“He was at the event last year and hit so many people right on with really telling them things about their animals, about their life,” said Meredith Fiel, founder of Adirondack Save-A-Stray.
“The people he read were blown away, they just walked away with their eyes glazed and their mouths open,” she said.
Gutro discovered he could communicate with ghosts and spirits when he was 13 and his grandfather appeared to him — six months after his death.
He told his mother, who wasn’t surprised. Turns out, his grandfather, mother and a cousin all had the ability.
“I found out she had same ability, but never used it,” he said. “She was afraid of dead people and sometimes, there are days I’d rather just talk to dead people.”
Gutro said he doesn’t use his ability to get rich. By day, he’s a meteorologist in Maryland, and author of three books, “Ghosts and Spirits,” “Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead” and “Pets in the Afterlife.”
He wrote the books, he said, “to give people understanding and comfort and learn to recognize signs people and pets from our past give to us all the time.”
Being able to identify those experiences is what he will focus on Saturday night at the Save-A-Stray Benefit.
The evening, which will be held on the ninth floor of The Towers, also includes presentations by dog trainer Dan Rossignol, who will appear with his Rottweilers; reiki and animal communicator Nancy Clifford; and wildlife rehabilitators John and Diane Hime.
While Save-A-Stray helps all kinds of pets, this year’s focus, Fiel said, is on kittens and cats.
“We have a bad problem with kittens and cats because people think they can throw them out and that they can fend for themselves,” she said.
“We’re really trying to make a difference in spaying and neutering and finding forever homes for these cats.”
 If you go
Adirondack Save-A-Stray hosts an evening of spiritual expression, communication and psychic experiences at 5:30 p.m. Saturday on the ninth floor of The Towers, 333 Glen St., Glens Falls.
The event, a fundraiser for Save-A-Stray, includes cocktails, entertainment, dinner, exhibits, a dessert buffet, a silent auction and special guests author, medium and paranormal investigator Rob Gutro; dog trainer and behavior consultant Dan Rossignol; and reiki and animal communicator Nancy Clifford.
Tickets to the event are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. They can be purchased at Save-A-Stray and at locations throughout the area. For more information, call 654-6220.

Q&A: What Causes Ghostly Soldiers to March Across a Road when Cars are Coming?

A winding wooded road
On  a recent trip, I learned about GHOSTLY SOLDIERS  who march across a heavily wooded roadway in a place called "Brennen's Glen," located between the town of Trulee and Farranfore, Ireland.

I learned that stretch of road had a lot of single car fatalities. Over the last 60 years many accidents occurred, and the people who survived all had the same story: They saw a band of soldiers marching across the road as the drivers tried to swerve to avoid them. There were a lot of cars that apparently went off the road and crashed into trees.

No one has any idea who the soldiers are or why they were marching on that particular road. I couldn't find anything on the internet about soldiers on the Dingle Peninsula or hauntings there that involve soldiers.

Q:    When I told my friend Anne Marie about them she asked: Do you think this is residual energy just repeating itself over and over, or intelligent hauntings causing people to crash their cars?

A:  Those soldiers are just residual haunts. They are an emotional thumbprint of a
traumatic/emotional event (for most of the soldiers I would imagine) and it happens over
and over.
The reason they appear when people are driving, is that on a dark, backwoods, winding road, when people are driving in the dark, they have anxiety, even fear.
Because the soliders are a residual energy and its Earth-bound energy, negative emotions like fear, anxiety, etc. that energy "powers up" the residual energy causing it to reappear!
