    Bear said: I recently had the displeasure of seeing the remake of the classic film Poltergeist and it really had an impact on my thoughts about Hollywood and Paranormal Investigating. After 20 year of being a Paranormal Investigator aka Ghost Hunter, I have learned a lot on how to make a investigation safe. There were many examples of what NOT to do while investigating a possible haunted location in Poltergeist and I felt the need to address them. NOTE:  A poltergeist is actually not a ghost. It's activity that mimics that of a ghost, but is caused by the emotionally disturbed energy generated by a teenage girl. We've encountered 2 incidents of that very thing and once the teenage girl got counseling or moved out, the activity stopped. **Enjoy the vlog! -Rob

2 New Signs from my Mom's Spirit Around her Birthday

For those who know me, I've been able to get signs and messages from people who passed away- and either remain
Earth-bound (as a ghost) or cross over into the light (as a spirit). Usually they give us signs around birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. (You just need to look for them).
  Well, my mom was no exception. She gave me several signs she's around - and this is the week of her birthday and what would've been her and my dad's 60th wedding anniversary.
  Spirits can come in many ways, like through dreams or music. My mom came through in both ways.

A VIVID DREAM / VISIT - This morning, I awoke from a dream of walking into a brightly lit room that had huge windows with the sun poring through, and my mom was sitting down with our (late) poodle, Gigi, who was her favorite dog in the world. My mom appeared as she did when she was in her late 20s/early 30s!  She was young and vibrant, and smiling.  (She looked like she did in the picture here)
  She was sitting on a large white couch or bed and Gigi, her poodle was curled up with her. She was very happy and content. The next thing I noticed was that a Weimaraner was walking next to me- and I think it was Buzz, my weimaraner who passed in 2005. It was all so very real. That's the difference between a visit and a dream. This was definitely a visit and I got to see mom, Gigi and Buzz. How cool.

MUSICAL SIGNS - While I was teleworking later in the day, I was listening to WSM-AM 650 on-line. That's a radio station out of Nashville that plays classic country. Well, there were two songs in a row that my mother included in her favorites:
1) Dolly Parton's "Here You Come Again"  (that brought back memories from the 1970s of Mom and I sitting down facing each other, slapping each other's knees and singing the song)
2) Glen Campbell and Steve Wariner's "Hand that Rocks the Cradle (Hall of Fame for Mamas)" song came on second. Mom loved that song and said she agreed that there should be a hall of fame for mothers!

Question: "Do Non-Religious People go to Heaven?"

One of the questions I've received several times is  "Do Non-Religious People go to Heaven?"
   People who have asked were concerned that their loved one who passed away would not find peace on the other side if they didn't subscribe to a religion. 
  I did a search on Google to see what websites say before I put down my understanding (from talking with people on the other side). Almost all responses to the question was "well, you need to read the bible and be a christian." That's fine for the person writing it, but it's a narrow-minded answer and it's not correct. You can worship whomever you choose or not. Religions have always been created by mankind.
 
   MY ANSWER:  If you understand energy, then you know that we all have the ability to "cross over" and join the energies that run through the cosmos. You can call that 'heaven," "paradise," "Valhalla" or whatever you like it makes no difference. 
   The bottom line is that you don't need to believe in a god to cross over. "God" is not an entity. God is a collective consciousness of all living things- basically the energy of every living thing. Religions are created by man, and if you understand the science of energy, that's what people and pets become after the pass. Suicide victims cross, gay, straight, young, old, overweight, anorexic, all races, colors, creeds, etc. can cross over, and need not believe in a religion. It's not about religion. It's about energy.
 
  What about those who don't cross over and remain ghosts? - Well, ghosts choose not to cross over and join the energies of the cosmos/heaven, etc. Ghosts choose to stay Earth bound. WHY?  Often, it's because of their religious beliefs in life that convince them they are "unworthy" of moving on.  Their religious beliefs prevent them from going where they belong.
   In fact, many ghosts will wait in an Earthly-limbo hoping to find forgiveness for their earthly deeds... and if the people whom the bad things were done to, have passed- then they likely won't get that answer because ghosts don't seem to be able to communicate with people in spirit.

In the News: Is Your House Haunted? Or Just Dirty?

Whenever I'm called into investigations for potential hauntings, we have to debunk a lot of things. We have an arhchitect on our team who can explain drafts and house settling noises. There are many other things we look for to disprove or prove the paranormal is at work in a house.
   I've blogged before how a messy house causes bad energy and discord. Last week this article appeared in the Huffington Post along those lines, with a focus on poor air quality (which you can have if you don't change filters often in your heating and cooling systems, or if someone smokes in the house).

Ghostbusters at Clarkson University in New York are investigating the link between indoor air quality and ghostly sightings, according to Medical Daily. They say toxic mold can trigger psychosis and that might cause you to see and hear things that go bump in the night.
The more sensitive you are to mold, the more likely you may think you're up against a poltergeist, the website reports.

“Hauntings are very widely reported phenomena that are not well-researched,” says Clarkson engineering professor Shane Rogers, according to the university's website.
"[The ghost sightings] are often reported in older-built structures that may also suffer poor air quality," Rogers says.
"Similarly, some people have reported depression, anxiety and other effects from exposure to biological pollutants in indoor air. We are trying to determine whether some reported hauntings may be linked to specific pollutants found in indoor air."
Rogers describes himself as a "longtime fan of ghost stories," and that he doesn't see himself as a paranormal debunker.
"What I do hope is that we can provide some real clues as to what may lead to some of these phenomena and possibly help people in the process."
Rogers' team of undergraduate students plan to measure air quality in several haunted locations in upstate New York, including the Frederic Remington Art Museum in Ogdensburg, N.Y. The museum is the former home of Madame Vespucci, and, according to Haunted Places, her voice can be heard echoing from the museum's upper level at night.
If they come back alive, they plan to publish the results of their finding.

Experiences shared from retirees about signs from spirits!

On May 28 I gave a Talk about "Signs from Spirits" to a captive audience of retired folks at the Shepherd's Center of Oakton-Vienna,  Unitarian Universalist Church of Fairfaxin Oakton, VA 22124
  This is an organization that was created and is run by volunteers that provides classes, lectures, events and activities for senior citizens of the area. Just an amazing organization. EXPERIENCES SHARED FROM THE AUDIENCE: 
   Several people in the audience confirmed that certain birds or butterflies mysteriously appeared right after one of their loved ones passed. Some have seen their loved ones appear in spirit to them!  
  Others mentioned they've received telephone calls with "no number showing" when they happened to be thinking of that person that passed. *They learned that when it comes to spirits, there are NO such things as coincidences*
  Music is another way that people in the audience said that they experienced hearing from their loved ones. One woman sitting in the front told me about a special song she and her late husband shared and how whenever she thought he was around, she would suddenly hear that song, indicating that he was indeed there and wanted to let he know that their love lives on forever.
