A LITTLE ABOUT THE TAROT
Medium Barb Mallon in Virginia (www.barbmallon.com) writes a great newsletter, and allowed me to reproduce it on my blog. This one is about Tarot cards. BARB SAID:
Before
I realized I was a medium, one of the things I LOVED to do was to give
mini Tarot readings at my local Starbucks and also for friends. Even
during my medium and guidance sessions now, spirit or my guides will
frequently show me one of the cards and I will immediately know what
they're trying to say. It's been a while, but in the last few months
I've felt the pull to add small Tarot readings into my guidance
sessions. This doesn't only bring more clarification, but also allows
my clients to "see" what I normally see within my mind during sessions.
Usually,
when I mention that I'd like to throw a few cards down, my client will
fidget as if they fear the cards. The Tarot deck is only another "tool"
for your guides and your higher self to bring more information to you.
It's never fortune telling, but does mirror the client and will give
more insight into situations. There are a ton of websites dedicated
to the teachings of the Tarot. One of my favorite sites is Biddy's
Tarot. Check her out! I love her ebooks and information! Here's a small article from The Astrology Room. Enjoy! :)

WHAT IS THE TAROT?
"The
Tarot is a deck of 78 mystical cards which for thousands of years has
been used for divination and fortune-telling. It's also used now as a
wonderful tool for self-discovery, psychological awareness and spiritual
awakening. The tarot speaks a language which is accessible to all. It
is a mirror of the human soul. Many people want to know Tarot meanings.
The Tarot reveals your potential. It tells you about your current hopes,
dreams or aspirations, and what you project into the future and the
outcome of your choices.
You
can discover the direction you're going in, and what to do about it;
how to improve your lifestyle, love life or personal goals and generally
develop your own ability to make decisions and the right choice. The
tarot is simply an objective mirror. The great thing about the tarot is
that the cards never lie.
THE TAROT AND YOU
The
Tarot works in two ways. The first as a symbolic language relying on
imagery, numbers, association and a mirroring effect of your personal
current situation, and secondly as a vehicle to tap the universal energy
of the moment.
For
thousands of years different cultures have tried to 'divine' the
future. In other words we want to have some control over our destiny.
Astrologers use the pattern of the planets or stars; palm-readers check
the lines on your hand, the I Ching coin method is used in the East, and
even the patterns of twigs, stones and tea leaves have been used to
foresee the future. It's a natural, human drive to want to know what
will be. Divination derives from the latin word, 'divinus' which
originally meant 'to be inspired by the gods'. We use the tarot to see
the truth of the moment, be inspired by the gods and thus the ability to
divine what might also be the consequence of that moment, i.e. the
future, whether one moment away or a year.
Drawing
a tarot card is a random thing on one level. Yet is it? Could it be
that the card, or rather the flow of universal energy which you are a
part of, is choosing you? We seem to have lost the awareness over time
that there is a connection between all things in the universe. An
invisible energy which permeates all, whether we call it the divine in
everything or 'ch'i, this is an ancient belief that the events and
patterns of the heavens or the tea-leaves in a cup or another person's
life are all part of this invisible connection. The Tarot and our
apparent random choice of card is simply part of this process too.
SYNCHRONICITY
This
is where we come across 'coincidence' denigrated by scientists to the
statistical nature of probability. Yet, ironically, it seems now the
great physicists are beginning to agree with the mystics.
Carl
Jung, the great twentieth century Swiss psychologist coined the word
'synchronisity' to describe meaningful coincidences. He believed that
the tarot card we unconsciously select is generated by something inner
which needs to be expressed, or must manifest in the outer world at the
moment. We are simply tapping into the universal unconscious. That card
is a powerful significator of the meaning of the moment. The card almost
picks you as you pick the card.
MIRRORS
The
analogy of a 'mirror' is the simplest way to understand how you 'read'
the tarot. Simply, when you draw the cards at random, you are drawing
little mirrors of yourself. You are reading you."
