My note to Anyone Whose Loved one is Failing

I wrote this note to a friend whose mother is dying in a hospital, and please share it with anyone you know who is facing the same situation. Hopefully it will bring them comfort.
It seems that December, January and the first couple of days of February have been filled with notes of people passing.  - Rob

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. My mom just passed on Dec. 29. I wanted to remind you that even though she's failing, she's still going to be around you. My mom gave signs when she was in a coma (a musical sign) that it was her time. She gave me signs and messages after she passed, too.
Our bodies are just a physical shell for our souls and spirit and they wear down, but our spirit doesn't. I read your note about hoping your mom doesn't have pain. When my partner and I finally got to Boston (from Maryland) and saw my mom, the hardest thing was telling her it was okay to pass, because I didn't want to see her suffer anymore (she was in a coma and had little chance of any recovery- other than living with 100% assistance and a feeding tube- which she would never want). So, I told her it was okay to cross over, and felt my dad and other (late) relatives spirits in the room. She crossed the next day.
You have shown your mom great love and given her the best gift-  permission to go on to the next stage of life.
Saying "goodbye" isn't really a "goodbye," because our loved ones spirits live on around us, help us, watch over us, guide us and protects us a lot easier than they did when they were living in a physical body. We're just not going to see their physical bodies anymore, but we will feel them around us. It's just the transition that is difficult, but over time you'll realize they're still with you.
 Love and hugs, Rob
