Part 3: Q&A from Anne Marie with Rob Gutro, Author/Medium/Ghost Tracker

Back in September I gave a talk at a VFW post and there were both ghosts and spirits there. I received a lot of great questions from Anne Marie C. after she read the blog post I wrote about it, and this is part 3 of that Q and A:
Q:  What are angels?

A:  Angels are positive spirits. Some were human others life forms from other worlds.

Q: Or for that matter, demons? I recently spoke with someone (a very trustworthy, well educated, and spiritual person) who shared with me that since she was a child, she’s been able to see demons. She’s been able to learn how to deal with it, and hasn’t seen any for a few years (i.e., she doesn’t see them all the time like you see spirits), but even at one point, was able to see them battling above her. Her husband  cannot see them, but can sense them. 

A: Demons are not the religious entities they're depicted as. Because the universe is so vast there's obviously life on other worlds. I believe demons to be the energies/entities of deceased life forms from other worlds who have never seen humans and are simply hostile to them, like wild animals that feel threatened or scared. Entities from other worlds can easily get here, just as our spirits can get to other worlds- it's all about energy, movement, etc. Light moves at 186,000 miles per second.... and I believe that other worldly entities can do the same thing and come to Earth. Because we don't recognize them, we call them "demons."

What is a "Haunting"? Who Haunts People- Ghosts or Spirits?

With Halloween this week, I thought this a great time to address what

"Haunted" really means.

I was inspired to answer this question when a friend of mine asked i if I was being "haunted" by a spirit of someone I love, who visits from time to time

In my books "Ghosts and Spirits" and "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead" I explain the difference between GHOSTS and SPIRITS. 

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER WE DIE? - The physical energies in living bodies (people or pets) combine with our memories and personalities and we stay on Earth or cross over. That's the difference between a ghost and a spirit.  

WHAT ARE SPIRITS? - Spirits have "crossed over," gone to heaven, Valhalla, Paradise or whatever you want to call the other side. Spirits come back from time to time to give us messages, guide us, help us make decisions, protect us, help us learn lessons and let us know that they're still watching over us and love us.

WHEN DO SPIRITS VISIT?  Spirits come from time to time and don't live with us. They visit on Birthdays, Anniversaries and Holidays for the most part) and lets us know he's fine on the other side. Spirits do NOT "Haunt" people. Only ghosts do.  

WHO HAUNTS PEOPLE?  -  Haunting is a "ghost-only thing. Here's why:
      
WHAT ARE GHOSTS? Ghosts are Earth-bound entities.Ghosts usually stay in one place - usually the place they lived (and liked when alive) and are always there, "Haunting" it.  Ghosts stay for a number of reasons, like unfinished business, or perhaps they were mean or evil when living and don't think they deserve to cross over, so they linger trying to get forgiveness. Sometimes they can attach themselves to an object or a person (if the person is very negative, depressed, angry or has any negative emotion).  Earth-bound ghosts are isolated from peace and stuck on Earth in a kind of isolation (hell) - they know of their relatives in spirit but can't communicate with them or cross over until they get what they need (often forgiveness or a medium to cross them over).

Spirits, like Ed, are at peace in the afterlife. So, NOPE, Ed isn't haunting us, just coming back to say hello and "I love you" from time to time - and usually whenever I call him (as any spirit will come back to people and give messages if asked).

Spirits Come in Dreams: Birthdays, Anniversaries and Holidays

I received the following email recently that confirms two things that I've learned from talking with those who passed. First, the email, and then the lessons! 

EMAIL: You mention keeping an open mind on birthdays and anniversaries.  NEXT Sunday it will be (my late husband) Stan’s and my anniversary.  However, last night I dreamt of him TWICE!   I hardly ever dream about him and yet I awoke from the first dream remembering every detail – still do.  The second dream is not as clear, but I woke up crying.  I still miss him so much.  

1) Spirits come into our dreams to let us know that they're still around. That's one of many ways they can show us that they come visit from time to time.
2) Birthdays, Anniversaries and Holidays - these are popular times for spirits to give us messages? 
WHY?  Because those are normally the times you would pick up the phone and call a relative. Just think of spirits as people who live far away, in a different state, place, etc. They would call you on special dates just as when they were alive in the physical plane.

Amazing Audible Sign from My Parents' Spirits!

mom passed in Dec. 2013. Six months after mom passed, the house was out of my family for the first time in 51 years. But my Mom and Dad wanted to give one last sign that they knew the house was being sold and they did.

The day before the sale, my younger brother (the executor) went to the house to meet with a technician from the house alarm company. He was going to disable the alarm before the new owners took over, so they could decide what to do with it. When my younger brother met the tech, he was told that the alarm went off by itself early that morning - and rang so long and so loudly, that the neighbors called the police who in turn sent a tech over to turn it off. The police found nothing out of order - no forced entry, nothing broken.

It was just Mom and Dad setting off the alarm one last time to let their three boys know that they're still around us and watching over us. It was also an acknowledgement that they know the house was being sold.
 
What's interesting is that in the SIX MONTHS that the house was empty, the only other time the alarm went off by itself was on June 19th, my parents' wedding anniversary and my mother's birthday- so that was their first sign. This is their second sign. 

So, keep an eye or ear out during anniversaries of any kind because you may get a message from someone you know - although it might not wake up an entire neighborhood!

Spirits Bring Things to Our Attention: Proof They're Around

Spirits have a way of bringing things to our attention at a time we need to hear or see them. Whether a spirit leads you to a doppelganger (someone that looks like them) to remind you that they're still around you, come into your dreams or to something as simple as an old letter. The latter two were the case with a 31 year old woman I met recently at a book festival.

DREAMS -  She said that both she and her brother had similar dreams of their late father. I asked if they were both in peaceful settings like walking in a grassy field, sitting on a bench, watching a sunset- and she acknowledged that her and her brother's dreams of their dad were in fact in those types of settings. When spirits come into our dreams, they're actually visiting us to let us know they're around us from time to time- and they project themselves in peaceful settings. It also means they've crossed over because ghosts don't seem to have the ability to come in our dreams.

A LETTER FROM THE PAST FOR THE PRESENT -   The woman told me that she found a letter from her dad from 14 years before that referenced her in one line. She said it was a simple sentence, but it was relevant to her life right now. She asked how that was possible. The answer is that spirit led her to the letter at this time because she needed to know her dad's spirit is with her and understands what she's going through right now. That's proof in writing- even after his passing!

Here's an inside look at my second book "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead" - that offers picture proof of a female ghost.
  It's a rare occasion to get such an amazingly clear picture of a ghost, and I'm not a big believer in orbs, but this photo certainly added a lot of proof that orbs are the most simple form a ghost can take.   These photos were part of an investigation where a family was experiencing a lot of paranormal things. - Without knowing any details I entered the home with medium Troy Cline (we're both on the Inspired Ghost Tracking group) and over a couple of hours determined two women were brutally murdered in the home. We sensed they were murdered and dragged through a furnace room in the home.

  Later, investigators went back and took photos and captured an orb in the very same furnace room!  Seen here. We enlarged it and found what I believe to be the face of one of the murdered women. They linger to help protect whatever new family is living in the home.

Great letter from a Reader!

I really enjoy getting emails from people who have read either or both of my two books (Ghosts and Spirits or Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead) and found comfort from them. This is one such letter that I just had to share.  - Rob

Rob -  I just had to write to tell you that I read pg. 60 of Ghosts and Spirits last night.  This page especially really hit home for me.  Let me tell you why as briefly as I can....

8 years ago, my 16 year-old niece Rachel was killed in a car accident on Route 222 here in Berks County.  A week or so after her death, I was in a store walking down an empty aisle when I noticed a shiny penny on the floor directly in front of me.  I have never taken notice of pennies before, but something about this one made me pick it up.  The saying "pennies from heaven" powerfully swept through my mind.  I just had to have that penny.  Later that evening I called my mom to tell her about this penny, and how I absolutely believed that Rachel meant for me to find it.  For a few years after that, my parents, my sister, and I have seen pennies in unusual places or under unusual circumstances such as propped up against a wall in the corner of my dad's office.  While living, my niece and I and other family members were  very close.  We've kept these penny stories private between us only.  We felt it was a secret was that she was communicating with us. 

 A few years ago, my mother passed away.  I still get pennies showing up in places that don't really make sense.  For example,a year ago my library at school had just finished being remodeled.  I had over 200 boxes of books to unpack and an entire library to put back together in just 3 days. I was under a tremendous amount of stress.  One day as I was trying to muddle through the unpacking, a penny was lying right in the middle of the library floor.  Now, I had walked in that space a million times during those unpacking days and never saw that penny there! 

Last night I awoke at 2:30 in the morning unable to fall back to sleep.  I reached over to my bedside table where your book is, picked it up, and pg. 60 just happened to be where my fingers landed.  Never before have I read anything that you mentioned about pennies.  I never knew that pennies were a way loved ones communicate.  I just thought I made it up. 

So...THANK YOU!  Thank you for this reaffirmation.  What peace it has brought me.  I shared it with my dad this evening over the phone.  He too was happy to hear those words you penned.

Dear N.P. -  Wow! This is awesome. 
  That's an example of spirit working to make people meet, to help get messages through.
 You and I were meant to meet- through your article on Tyler. Obviously, Rachel and your mom were behind the meeting between us so you could get confirmation of the signs from her. I actually wondered how you wound up coming to me about Tyler when there are so many other countless adoption stories. Now I know why. :)
    Sometimes the year on the penny will have some significance to the spirit or to you and their memory or family event. If the year on the penny is after they passed, it relates to a significant event in the year, where they were with you.
  I just gave a talk on how loved ones communicate signs to the living, and I'm giving it again on Dec. 7th in Chantilly, VA. I may also be giving it in Baltimore in 2014 in Ellicott City, so I'll keep you posted. It may prove healing to your dad, and your niece's family.
  She wants to let you know that she and your mom are together and that they're both safe and able to see you all and watch over you. They also can influence some things you do. For example, you may find yourself cooking something that your mom liked to cook and think of her- that would be a sign that she's influenced you to cook that dish. Or you may hear a song on the radio that reminds you of your niece or see someone that resembles her- those are signs from your neice that she's around you.
  SO glad to hear that it has brought you comfort.

I have received a lot of great questions about ghosts and spirits, and I've provided answers to the questions to the best of my knowledge of the afterlife. 

Do you think a spirit can be in more than one physical place at once? (My sister has said that several in her family all felt Mom there, around them, after she died, while I was feeling her here with me at my house

ANSWER: Yes.

Science tells us that Energy can move at the speed of light. However, spirit tends to even go beyond that. When people in spirit are energy  it seems that they can send some of their energies to different people at the same time, in multiple locations.  That's why there are energies of people's spirit attached to objects  and whenever those objects come near other energies they "power up " the full spirit.   Often, though, you'll hear stories of people who are passing away and they manage to give people signs that their passing is occurring- no matter where the living person or persons are located.

Since my mom didn't believe in the afterlife, could she really have strong enough energy to actually reach me?

ANSWER: Yes. If your mom had a strong personality, she can come through. In fact, believing in the afterlife has nothing to to with becoming part of it. Religions teach us that we will go to heaven or hell  - the latter if we don't believe. That's incorrect. Hell is being trapped as an Earth bound ghost and being unable to communicate with others in spirit or in the living world. Heaven is joining the energies that run through the universe. If your mom is strong enough, she'll find a way to communicate with you. In fact, I'm sure she's already given you some signs.

Are spirits' energies stronger for a while after the person first dies? For how long?

ANSWER: The energy levels after someone dies isn't stronger than later on. What strengthens spirit are physical and emotional energies. Living people naturally feel a lot of grief, sorry, hurt when someone passes, and it's all of of love. Love is a positive energy that gives spirits the ability to get strong and relay messages (but our grief blocks those messages). So, whenever someone is thinking of someone who passed, they're providing them energy.

Spirits Can be Funny!

   As a developing medium, I tend to get messages when I get them - so I call myself a "medium rare": As in, not well done yet. When we pass, we maintain our personalities. I've come to understand that when our physical bodies die, the physical energy within it combines with our personality, memories and soul. It's through their personality that spirits will identify themselves. So, sometimes the funny personalities of the spirits come through.  That was the case when I was driving to an event with my husband.

    He and I were both in my pick-up truck and suddenly I smelled flatulence. He looked at me, as he smelled it, too. At the same time, we asked each other who had let out some gas. We both denied doing so, and that's when I "heard" a 60ish year old, overweight man who identified himself as "Larry." Larry said that he used to like walking around his house in his tee-shirt and boxer shorts and let out gas, just to be funny. He loved to laugh, and would always try to make his wife and grandchildren laugh.

   

So, spirits maintain the same sense of humor that they had here on Earth in their physical forms, and share that with us so we can identify who is "calling!"
