During my talk, I mentioned that dogs and cats have the ability to see and hear Earth-bound ghosts and spirits. I my book "Pets and the Afterlife" I explain about the different cones and rods dogs and cats have in their eyes that enable them to see faster motion (and the vibration in which ghosts and spirits move). Of course, they also hear at higher frequencies- the same frequencies that ghosts and spirits "talk." Paranormal investigators use digital recorders to pick up those sounds, but dogs and cats can hear them!
After my talk, the trainers (Dan and Kathy) talked with me about some of their experiences when they were
called in to help dogs with what was perceived to be behavior problems. They weren't. Fortunately, Dan knew enough to ask questions about the history of the house. A CHILLING GHOST-
The owner of the house told Dan that his dog was skittish in the house and seemed to be afraid of one area of the house. When the dog didn't respond to training, Dan asked about any deaths in the house. The owner said that the house was a "short sale" because it belonged to a drug dealer who was shot dead in the house. Apparently, the drug dealer is still there. That dog will never feel comfortable unless a medium can cross them over.
WHY THEY STAY BEHIND -
In my experience, people who do evil deeds think they're not worthy of crossing over- so they stay behind as Earth-bound ghosts. (check out my book "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead") That's the wrong decision. They become trapped on Earth (unless someone crosses them over) and the wreak havoc in homes or places where living people reside. Usually, once someone passes they have an awareness that they were not a good person - and they can make amends on the other side. But everyone should cross over. No one belongs "trapped" on Earth in the afterlife, unable to talk to their relatives in spirit- and that's exactly what a ghost is.
