Q & A: What happens to the ghost of the structure they haunt is taken down?

Yesterday I received a great question about ghosts who haunt houses. Here's the
A demolished house. Credit: Cascade news
question and my thoughts about what happens!  Keep the questions coming!! - Rob

Q:  What happens to the ghost of the structure they haunt is taken down and if that ghost was only seen on the second floor, would the ghost appear to be flying?

A:   Good question! Yes, the ghost would appear to be walking above ground.

However, it's rare to see that because they need energy to manifest. Since emotional energy (negative) would be the most likely energy- and there's no house anymore for people to go inside and feel anxious or nervous, the ghosts would likely rarely manifest.

In addition, since intelligent haunts can see a structure around them when they're in a building- but they only see it as it was when they were there, they can see when there is no building, so they may try to cross over, or attach to a person.

QUESTIONS ABOUT GHOSTS OR SPIRITS? - You can check out my book "Lessons Learned From Talking to the Dead"- I've written it to address all the questions you can think of about the afterlife, and I use examples of messages I've received from both Earth-bound ghosts and spirits who have crossed over.  Paperback and E-Book: CLICK TO READ BOOK SUMMARY

Being a dog dad, one of the things that I insist on is having all of the ashes of our dogs with ours after we pass.  Now a cemetery in Germany has realized how important that is to so many pet parents. I found this article on June 16 and thought I would share it, in hopes that other cemeteries in the U.S. and around the world will begin to offer the same service. - Rob

BRAUBACH — Pets bring happiness to the lives of their owners. Now, a German Cemetery Association (Deutsche Friedhofsgesellschaft) allows the bond to continue for eternity, offering clients the opportunity to be buried alongside their dogs and cats.
Two German cemeteries, in the towns of Braubach and Essen, inaugurated the policy this week that allows humans and pets to be buried together in the same grave, reports the Berliner Morgenpost daily.

Called “Unser Hafen,” this new form of burial offers two options: You can either opt for the “friendship” plot where two humans can be buried next to each other alongside a maximum of five pets. The other option is known as a “family grave” in which 12 human or animal urns can rest in the same place. The annual cost ranges from 69 or 92 euros per grave.

Judith Könsgen, who heads the cemetery association, says there were several legal obstacles to overcome before obtaining the authorization. Unser Hafen’s website, for example, indicates that the deceased people and animals must always be cremated separately.
Otherwise, it seems safe to say, the afterlife has never been so cute.

In the News: Specter Detector: Looking for Ghosts in New York's Most Haunted Building

Here's a story that appeared recently on Gawker.com that you may find interesting. Especially if you are a paranormal investigator:

Specter Detector: Looking for Ghosts in New York's Most Haunted Building
By Kelly Conaboy
A figure caught my eye as I passed through one of the supposedly haunted rooms of the supposedly very haunted Merchant’s House Museum in NoHo last week.  According to Emily Wright, Communications and Programs Manager of the Merchant’s House, whom I spoke with after my visit, the house typically has between six and 12 new reports of ghostly activity every year, including weird feelings, unaccounted for noises, sightings, etc. The most recent came earlier this year, when a visitor ran downstairs from the upper floors, telling the docent at the admissions desk that a woman in a long, black dress had followed her down a flight of stairs. Later that day, Wright tells me, another visitor had the exact same experience—chased down a flight of stairs by a woman in a long, black dress.

Photo Recap from "Double Ghost Murder" Event/Reincarnation

I spoke to people about pets and people who have passed.
Yesterday, July 11, I gave a talk about a "Double Murder Ghost Investigation" that   took part in with Inspired Ghost Tracking back in 2001. The room where I presented at Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library, 7584 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church Virginia was full! I was really honored that so many people came to hear my talk on a Saturday afternoon!
signing a book!
My talk lasted for an hour, and there were so many great questions afterward. I met a lot of really interesting people and my friend Jeff came and took some pictures. So many people had paranormal experiences, too.

This is probably my best side! LOL
REINCARNATION - Some of the questions were about reincarnation - and yes, we all come back. Usually, we come back once everyone we know in this life has passed. All our contemporaries usually have to pass... however, there are exceptions. We usually don't cross over between animal and human kingdoms, though, although several friends told me they want to be reincarnated as one of our dogs, because we spoil our canine kids. :)

HOW CAN I READ ABOUT TE TALK?""A Double Murder Ghost Investigation"   is a chapter in my second book "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead."
It's available on AMAZON in E-book and paperback: Click here for Amazon

SUMMARY: Ghost investigator, medium and author Rob Gutro will share a case from the files of Inspired Ghost Tracking of Maryland, where the team investigated a private home reporting paranormal activity. What they found was the result of a double murder with amazing confirmations of what happened, and photographic proof of the ghosts left behind.

How to Dispel Negative Energy or a Ghostly Attachment

If you feel drained a lot, feel depressed, angry, or feel negative energy around you, there are steps you can take to dispel it. Whether it be a ghost in your house, a ghost who has attached him or herself to you, or negative energy that you absorbed. Here's how to get rid of it:
It would be beneficial to start doing things to invite light, positive energy and optimism into your life to dispel it. The attachment seems drawn to the negativity like a magnet.
BRIGHTEN UP! - I would suggest that you brighten your living environment, remove negative people from your life, play quieter, calming music, sage your house and bring in more light.
LOOK AT LITTLE THINGS TO FIND GOOD - Focus on small things that make you happy- even a good cup of coffee or an easy traffic day.
The positive change will repel the negative energy. Negative energy depresses people can be changed by focusing on good things, even small, good things.
MEDITATE -   You should meditate, have all the lights on around, candles to invite more light, soft music (instrumental), and tell the energy to leave your body.
AN EXERCISE TO RID THE ENERGY FROM YOUR HOME -
Picture the energy wrapping up into a tornado-like vortex, and then imagine it spinning out of the house through a window. Then imagine the window and all the windows of your house being sealed with light as a barrier. He can also protect yourself  further by picturing that white light around him as a "suit of armor."

Our Dog Sprite's Visit on the 2nd Anniversary of his Passing

It was 2 years ago yesterday, July 8, 2013 we said a sad goodbye to our 16 1/2 year old dachshund Sprite. Since he's been on the other side, though, he's come back several times to let us know he's still around. This year was no different.

Sprite 12-23-96 to 7-8-13
Sprite's Butterfly
In 2013, three days after Sprite passed, after Tom and I took our other three dogs for a walk, we brought them into the backyard, and Sprite gave us all a sign in the form of a butterfly.    First, it's unusual for a butterfly to fly near dogs and that's exactly what that yellow and black butterfly did- and for quite awhile. Secondly, the dogs didn't go after it. They just watched it. It was as if they heard Sprite telling them "I'm here." The butterfly just stayed there on the grass and I actually took pictures of it. It was a message from Sprite that he is fine and regained 100% health as a spirit.

Spirits can manipulate things in nature, and Sprite loves to use yellow and black butterflies because since 2013, several friends have seen them when they have read about Sprite.
On my way to work on July 8, 2015, Sprite gave me the same sign. I was not thinking of Sprite as I was rushing to get to work - but spirits come by on birthdays, anniversaries and holidays to remind us they are around.
After leaving the house, I went through the Dunkin' Donuts drive through to get coffee. After pulling out of the parking lot and getting on the road to work, a yellow and black butterfly flew right toward the windshield, close enough for me to see it clearly, before it flew off. Sprite had given me a reminder that he is still around on the second anniversary of his passing.

Ghost Photo from the Archives: The Cooper Family Hanging Ghost?

Recently I saw a blog post from inyminy.com with a collection of old photographs that actually included ghosts. The first one in the collection was the most unusual. See what you think.  The image is credited: Pixgood.

The Cooper Family Hanging Ghost?

This photo is dated in the mid-1950’s in a home in Texas. The Cooper family had just moved into an old house  that they bought and decided to take this family photo. When it was developed (yes, they used film that had to be developed in 1950) to the left side of the photo appeared an upside down person that appeared to be hanging from the ceiling. What's interesting is that the face is blocked out.  Additionally, the figure also appears larger than the women. Because no address was given for the home, it is impossible to trace back in records to see who may have died there.

LOOKING CLOSER - With Photoshop, I was able to zoom in and lighten the image of the upside-down ghost. One thing I saw was that the right arm actually cast a shadow. Ghosts don't cast shadows.

In addition, the "shadow" of the finger goes directly over the front of the candle and is not deflected on the other side of the candle.

So, between the shadow, and the fact that the figure is much larger than the adult women, I think that this photo is just a double exposure. It is curious though, how the face is blacked out.

Great News! Harley Heads Home- another successful rescue dog adoption!

On Saturday, May 30th, I had a table at the MId-Atlantic Doxiefest in Belair, Maryland  to promote my book "Pets and the Afterlife." - It was an outdoor event and fundraiser for Coast-to-Coast Dachshund Rescue. got to work with a rescue that was trying to place their last couple of dogs, so the rescue manager could retire.
Author Rob Gutro and Harley- looking for a home

While there, I met Jane, who was volunteering and helping a Fredericksburg, Virginia dog rescue. The rescue is managed by Yolanda McEntire, who is working to get her last few dogs adopted as she is retiring.

Jane brought over Harley, a 13 year old, senior black and tan dachshund.  I immediately took to him and really wanted to see him go to a good home. He had been with the rescue for over a year, and Yolanda really wanted to find him the perfect place. So I offered to help.

Harley's close up!
Jane and an adoptable dog

What I've done with Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue (where Tom and I are members and volunteers) is that I take a short video of the dog, take several photos (and after assessing the dog's behavior and talking with the foster parent) I write a biography. I've learned that many people really, really want to see a video and read a bio about how the dog behaves, his habits, training, health, etc. so I include all of those things.

I've now used this format for 5 dogs and all five have been adopted within 2-3 months of making the videos and biographies live. What a wonderful reward to find these dogs homes.

A short video of Harley I made

Well, on July 4th, we received an email from Yolanda that Harley had indeed found a forever home in West Virginia.  That totally made my July 4th (and the week).
