Cases of Ghosts Affecting Children

I'm one of the mediums in the Inspired Ghost Tracking group. Since I joined the group a couple of years ago, I've been on several home investigations. Each one is different, and it's always unsettling whenever an earth-bound ghost is bothering children.

Inspired Ghost Tracking is dedicated to investigate, document and provide help and intervention with paranormal and supernatural phenomena to clients in need. Inspired operates in Maryland and service surrounding communities within our areas of operation.
Recently I went on an investigation where two children kept seeing a figure (it was a male ghost). Children have the ability to  see,  hear and sense ghosts., where adults have lost the ability. WHY?  Because a child's logical thinking has not developed.
As a child, we have not yet learned to try and explain everything by "normal means," - that is, try to provide a logical explanation for everything that happens in the physical world. As we grow older and are educated in math, physics, science, etc. we look for logical explanations for things that happen in the atmosphere, or noises made - like tree branches rustling in the wind, or houses settling, or steam coming out of heat vents on cold days.
Children don't look for those explanations, so their open minds see ghosts and spirits more easily, because they don't immediately discount them. -
So, whenever a ghost is bothering a child, and adult really must pay attention and ask the child questions. Ask: Is it a man or woman? Is it a boy or girl? What is their name? What do they say? What do they look like? Did they live here? Why are they  talking with you? When do they come to you? * Remind a child that a ghost was once a living, breathing person and are likely looking for help to move to another place and be with their relatives.
If the child is scared, then go easy with the questioning and learn as much as you can. Then, call a group like Inspired Ghost Tracking to investigate, confirm and help cross the ghost over.
These were taken at a woman's house in North Carolina. They moved into an old farm house and when the woman who bought the house entered, she got a heavy uneasy feeling. She has seen and heard things in the home. This photo was taken during a birthday party for her oldest son. She couldn't believe what she saw in them. Her grandaughter seems to be looking at a ghost. My Investigation on the Streets of Baltimore

One of the cool things I do is investigate places that may be haunted. Yesterday, I joined Margaret and Ronda of Inspired Ghost Tracking (the group I belong to) and Barry, who is a co-owner of a great Scarborough Fair Bed and Breakfast in Baltimore, to walk the streets of the Federal Hill neighborhood and see what kinds of ghostly activity I could pick up.

Rob tells Barry and Ronda about a murder that happened on this spot.
I've been to Federal Hill many times, and have never sensed anything, usually because I was paying attention to the people I was with or the event I attended. This time my focus was tuning in to the energy and events of the past.
I honestly didn't expect much, but walked away with about 12 different entities all with distinctly different stories. Most of them were outside, because we didn't go inside buildings -  which is somewhat unusual, because ghosts usually linger in places they were familiar with, unless they died outside, as several people did, and still lingered.
CONFIRMATIONS:   I'm not going to give any details here, but I will say that I was able to confirm several of them!  In one case on a certain street I sensed an accident (long ago) and identified the type of person killed and how- and Ronda, the group historian, said she had read about that very accident in her research!   In one of the places, now a bar and eatery I sensed a shadow man and it was confirmed by the bartenders.
WHO WERE THESE GHOSTS?  I received messages from dead people from all walks of life: a politician, warehouse worker, rum-runner from Prohibition, a prostitute, banker and more. I was able to sketch several of them out, too.
In short, this event was very much like my experience in England - there were a lot of ghosts around. I just had to tune in an pay attention. Eventually, all of these stories, once proven by Ronda as she continues to search through historic records, will be published or put into a tour (Which is why I can't disclose any details now) . I'll keep you posted.

Who made the First EVPs?

Margaret and Ronda of Inspired Ghost Trackers asking questions on digital recorder
According to Wikipedia, "Electronic voice phenomena (EVP) are electronically generated noises that resemble speech, but are supposedly not the result of intentional voice recordings or renderings. Common sources of EVP include static, stray radio transmissions, and background noise. Recordings of EVP are often created from background sound by increasing the gain (i.e. sensitivity) of the recording equipment.
So, who made the first recordings of ghosts or spirits? According to George Noory's book Talking to the Dead, it was Waldemar Borogas in 1901. He was exiled to Siberia and used a Thomas Edison phonograph during a session he was beating drums. Between the drumbeats he heard disembodied voices!
Working with the Inspired Ghost Trackers, we've recorded several of them, including one from the Book Escape in Baltimore where we investigated. At the time we got the EVP, I thought I heard a man's voice briefly. When we listened to the digital recording later right after I thought I heard the sound, we all heard "Go away!"
Pictured here are Margaret and Ronda of Inspired Ghost Trackers asking questions during an EVP session. The hardest part is listening back to the recording to see if anything or anyone speaks up!

Thomas Edison and Contacting the Dead

I've been reading George Noory's book "Talking to the Dead." George is well known for being the host of the amazing and widely syndicated radio show "Coast to Coast AM." I was honored to be his guest recently and really enjoying talking with him.
 - George's book talks about the history of EVPs, and obtaining audio from ghosts and spirits. One of the things that piqued my interest was his discussion of Thomas Edison. He said that Edison said several times that he may have thought communicating with the dead was possible. At one point, Edison said "There is a doubt. I am not sure. That's the reason I am experimenting. But if I didn't believe, I wouldn't try."  Noory said that if Edison tried to work on a prototype, none was found when he died.
Thomas Edison
  Ghostvillage.com wrote an arhttp://www.ghostvillage.com/ghostcommunity/index.php?showtopic=19802ticle about Edison's communications:
Noory's book is filled with many people who tried creating "telephones" to talk with the dead, including an inventor in Scotland who put a telephonic apparatus to the throat of mediums in order to "hear spirit voices" coming from within the medium. That invention came about in the late nineteenth century.
Interesting stuff- and check out George Noory's book "Talking to the Dead" for more info on trying to obtain electronic recordings and EVPs.

VIDEO: Ghost at The Book Escape: Part 1 (Baltimore, 2012)

Author and developing medium Rob Gutro talks about his abilities to communicate with those who passed. Part one is a general overview of what ghosts and spirits are, and the difference between them.  -Toward the end of this 4:44 minute video, Rob talks about the happenings of the Book Escape. IN PART TWO: More Clues about ghost is that haunts the Book Escape.

**NOTE: There were some children in the audience- so the talk was toned down as not to scare them. (One thing I mentioned was that ghosts can't harm you. However, the negative energy they give off can adversely affect the emotions and tension in a household.
***COMING NEXT: PART 2 DISCUSSES THE INVESTIGATION***

Rob Gutro wrote "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead" (MORE about the book, and to order the paperback: https://www.createspace.com/3824548)  and "Ghosts and Spirits: Insights from a Medium."  BOTH are available in paperback and E-book through Amazon.com (Ebook for Lessons at $2.99, Ebook for Ghosts at $3.99)
Rob has been featured in the Washington Post, MSNBC, and heard on the world-wide radio program "Coast to Coast AM with George Noory," "Paravizion Radio," Ghost Chronicles Radio, Gazette Newspapers, Unknown Paranormal Radio, the Francis and Jon Show and many more.

Article to Consider - Can Dealing With Evil Spirits Kill You?

I ran across this article to consider: Bad Vibes: Can Dealing With Evil Spirits Kill You? http://whofortedblog.com/2012/07/15/bad-vibes-dealing-demonic-affect-health-kill-hurt/
I just learned that Ryan Buell at 30 is dealing with pancreatic cancer. He was the team lead for Penn State's "Paranormal State" television program. The article suggests that several paranormal researchers that dealt with demonic entities became extremely ill. It's something to think about. It's also a good idea to mentally shield yourself before going on investigations- picture a white light of safety around you.
My feeling is that negative energy, and depression within the person weakens someone's immune system. I have a friend in Virginia who has now battled four different types of cancer (starting over 26 years ago) and because he's optimistic and doesn't get depressed, he continues to beat physical ailments. Other people, however, who are battling depression are often sick with various things. That doesn't mean that depression causes illness. Not by any means. It means that depression and a negative attitude will weaken your immune system and make you more susceptible to an illness. - That's been proven for decades.
I sincerely wish Ryan the best. He's an incredible guy and has inspired so many. Now he's inspiring many in his battle with pancreatic cancer. Please send him positive thoughts, and keep YOUR thoughts positive to help yourself.

Read the Baltimore Guide Article: Medium visits Federal Hill book shop and identifies ghostly inhabitant

Read the great article the Erik Zygmont of the Baltimore Guide wrote about my appearance at the Book Escape in Baltimore. Margaret Perry Ehrlich and Ronda Dixon of Inspired Ghost Trackers were there, too, and helped tell the story of our previous investigation. http://baltimoreguide.com/http:/baltimoreguide.com/medium-visits-federal-hill-book-shop-and-identifies-ghostly-inhabitant/

Medium visits Federal Hill book shop and identifies ghostly inhabitant

Written by on July 18, 2012 in Featured, Neighborhood News - No comments
Medium Rob Gutro relaxes among the stacks at The Book Escape, possibly home to a helpful ghost.
Meteorologist Rob Gutro, who talks to the dead in his spare time, says that the weird goings-on at Federal Hill’s The Book Escape, a used book store at 805 Light St., are indeed the activities of a ghostly resident.
Store owner Andrew Stonebarger said he experienced something very strange in the basement of the store.
“I heard a noise in one of the rooms,” he said. “The microwave had turned itself on.”
Stonebarger also described another experience:
“When you’re looking for a special book and you’re going through the shelves, once in a while the book you were looking for will just fall from the shelves,” he said. “It has happened to me once or twice, but it’s also happened to other employees.”
Gutro, an author and medium from Bowie, investigated The Book Escape with members of Inspired Ghost Tracking, a Jessup group that, as indicated by the name, tracks ghosts.
“I was able to determine the identity of the person who still lingered there,” said Gutro. “He had something do do with books per se, but I don’t know if I should give it away.”
Gutro’s latest book, Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead, reveals the true identity of the shade.
At a book signing at The Book Escape last weekend, Gutro treated visitors to the full story of the bookstore’s ghost, as well as an audio recording of the ghost telling him and the ghost trackers to “go away.”
His connections with the spirit world aside, Gutro leads a normal life.
Gutro said that he had his first encounter at 14.
“I saw my grandfather appear in front of me, six months after he died,” he said. “That’s when I knew something was going on.”
Things happened sporadically from then. Gutro’s six-month-old weimaraner puppy died tragically in front of his eyes. After that, “he started making appearances,” Gutro said.
Things really picked up when he met his partner, according to Gutro.
“I fell in love,” he said. “It made me more receptive to messages.”
While he was writing his first book, Ghosts and Spirits: Insights from a Medium, Gutro experienced the death of his father.
But he wasn’t really gone.
At the funeral, Gutro’s grieving mother was sobbing uncontrollably. She quickly reduced her tissues to wet and useless shreds.
Gutro said that his father told him, three times, “Tell her to use my handkerchief.” In their 53 years of marriage, Gutro’s mother had always refused to touch his father’s handkerchiefs, even to wash them. When Gutro finally relayed his father’s message, his mother was taken aback.
“For the first time in 53 years, my mother had one of my dad’s handkerchief’s on her,” Gutro said. “She pulled it out of her pocket.”
Formerly a radio broadcast meteorologist for the Weather Channel, Gutro continues to work as a meteorologist. Additionally, schools, museums, and social groups request him for speaking engagements on weather-related topics. He and his partner love dogs, especially weimaraners and dachshunds. He likes coffee and exercise, he said.

Ghosts in Another Room?

I enjoy watching the ghost hunting shows on television with my partner, who is also a certified ghost investigator on the Inspired Ghost Trackers team. One question he asked was "why are ghosts always in the next room?"
Think about it. If you're watching "Ghost Hunters" or "Ghost Adventures" or some other ghost hunting program, usually investigators hear noises in another room.  Why do you think that is?
Haunted Hospital room. Cr: Lovethesepics.com
I believe it has to do with the personality of the ghost. Remember that ghosts maintain the personalities they had when they were living, breathing people. Some ghosts causing activity in another room may be shy and not want to directly confront the living, yet, they want to let them know that they exist. It's like shy people who want so much  to let people know they're in a room, but are afraid to come up to someone and talk to them. So, the shy ghosts make noise in another room as a "cry for help." Usually, a ghost's cry for help means a request to help them cross into the light to join their loved ones.
Another personality trait th may be the reason a ghost makes a noise in another room instead of in the direct presence of someone, is that the entity may enjoying playing/toying with people, and trying to scare them. People who were controlling or power hungry in life, would be controlling in death. Those kinds of people who are now earth-bound ghosts, would enjoy scaring people from a room away, making them wonder what happened in another room.
Whatever the reason for a ghost making a noise from another room- it's all to get attention to let the living know they're dwelling in a place, and they want help crossing into the light.

My Thanks to the Book Escape, Baltimore

I had a great time today giving 2 short talks about the ghost that haunts the Book Escape  http://www.thebookescape.com/(and he's a good-tempered ghost), and meeting some great people. The Book Escape is a used bookstore (that also sells new books and MORE) in Baltimore, Maryland's Federal Hill neighborhood, which is in  itself very historic.
My thanks to Andrew for hosting me- and for Erik Zygmont of BaltimoreGuide.com for attending and writing an article about it. (Watch http://baltimoreguide.com/ for an article later this week).
My thanks to Margaret and Ronda of Inspired Ghost Tracking (of which I'm a proud member) for coming up and helping out with the technical aspects of the talk, and Lisa from the group.
Thanks to Steve for videotaping (watch for the video soon on this blog!), and Jane for the introduction to Andrew several years ago that led to the investigation and an earlier talk, too. I met other great folks like Rico, and a woman and her two children, who so nicely sat and listened. There were also others, too.
It was a great experience, and an amazing book store, which I highly recommend. After all, I went shopping there after I finished! :)
