Haunted Highways #4: Chicago's Archer Avenue

Archer Avenue.Credit; Wikipedia
There are several haunted roadways and in today's blog you'll read about one of them  thanks to the Travel Channel's "Haunted Highways and Byways."  Today's haunt is Chicago's Archer Avenue.

Did you ever get bad feelings while driving on the highway? Well, sometimes whenever people die in car accidents their physical bodies die and their consciousness wakes up as energy and are confused. If they linger too long trying to figure out what happened, they get stuck Earthbound as a ghost. (you can read about that in my books "Ghosts and Spirits" and "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead.")

Chicago's Archer Avenue

Chicago's Archer Avenue is said to be one of the most haunted roads in America, perhaps because of two nearby cemeteries. Once it was an Indian path, chosen for its alleged magnetic power. Today, nighttime travelers sometimes report seeing eerie, hooded figures on Archer, or phantom hearses or "Disappearing Mary," the ghost of a girl killed by a hit-and-run driver.

There's also a mysterious moonlit trail in Sica Hollow State Park, S.D. "Sica" is a Sioux word for evil or bad, and old stories warn that the park's unpaved Trail of the Spirits is home to gurgling, red-colored bogs filled with the blood and bodies of the Indians' ancestors. Hikers have seen strange natural phenomena, like moaning waterfalls and green-glowing stumps. In the 1970s, several people were said to have disappeared in the park. Some searchers think they were swallowed up by quicksand. Others are not so sure.

A 5 Star Book Review on Pets 1, Pets 2 and Kindred Spirits

Book reviews mean a lot to authors on AmazonCom and it's encouraging to find people who are moved by your writings, inspired or have learned something. Here's a 5 Starbook review that was just posted on my latest book "Kindred Spirits: How a Medium Befriended a Spirit" AND my Pets and the Afterlife and Pets and the Afterlife 2 books!

Beautiful stories. Signs from loved ones. October 2, 2019
I love reading Rob's books! I read both Pets...Afterlife books and now Kindred Spirit. A lovely retelling of Ed, Rob's Father, Buzz, and Sprite's signs from beyond. I love being able to receive and recognize signs, numbers, and "coincidences." I recommend this book and all of Rob's book.
They have changed my life when life left me hopeless. Hope has been restored.

Another 5 Star Book Review I like for "Kindred Spirits: How a Medium Befriended a Spirit"

Book reviews mean a lot to authors on AmazonCom and it's encouraging to find people who are moved by your writings, inspired or have learned something. Here's a book review that was just posted on my latest book "Kindred Spirits: How a Medium Befriended a Spirit":

 Page Turner October 12, 2019
What an Excellent read! Well written and useful context for those new to the powers of a medium. I literally couldn’t put it down until Ed’s mystery was revealed. Rob laid things out like an experienced mystery writer - only this is all real life. As the puzzle pieces came together you sit there with a sense of awe and disbelief. This story can turn the raging skeptic into a true believer. It’s hard to dispute or discount so many signs. But rather than give it away - i will just say read it. You will enjoy the journey and may just have a new perspective when you’re done.

Short Video: I Met Hever Castle's Ghostly Tour Guide: book - Ghosts of England by Rob Gutro

In my book "Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation" by Rob Gutro, I wrote about my encounter with a ghost named "George" when I entered Hever Castle in the United Kingdom. Having no knowledge of the castle, and no idea who it was, I learned it was Queen Anne Boleyn's brother, who met a fateful end under the rule of Henry VIII, George shared a number of personal things with me and accompanied me through Hever Castle, acting as a ghostly tour guide. This video that I made outside the castle captures some of that, and the rest is in the book!

ABOUT "GHOSTS OF ENGLAND ON A MEDIUM'S VACATION by Rob Gutro: What happens when a medium goes on vacation? Can a medium simply switch off their ability at will? Well…not exactly. Rob Gutro is a medium/author/paranormal investigator and a scientist who has written 4 books about his encounters with human and animal ghosts and spirits.
In this book, you will read about his experiences on two separate trips to the United Kingdom. England’s rich history and many epic battles have caused an over-abundance of residual emotional energy. Everywhere he traveled, he had a paranormal experience. He explored royal palaces and spent the night in haunted castles. He encountered the ghosts of historical figures including a queen, a prince, and a nobleman; and several ghosts even shared their pain of death experience with him. On one occasion, the doppelganger of a loved one provided directions when he became lost while driving in the countryside due to a malfunctioning GPS. But not all of his encounters were of the human variety: there was also a very special visit from a canine ghost. This book is intended to be more than just a collection of personal ghost stories. In addition to relating my ghostly encounters, he has also included a short narrative history of the places where the experiences occurred. After all, knowing the history of a place is key to understanding why a ghost has decided to stay behind. So, join Rob as he relates his encounters with the ghosts of England. Rob has written 4 other books about the paranormal, two about people (Ghosts and Spirits and Lessons Learned From Talking to the Dead) and 2 about pets (Pets and the Afterlife and Pets and the Afterlife 2). The books are available in paperback and e-book on Amazon.com.

Tarot Tuesday: 7 of Swords

Every Tuesday, my friend Joy Andreason provides "Tarot Tuesday" to give you some insight into tarot
cards. Today's card is the 7 of Swords Card.

Joy says:  Traditionally, today's card symbolizes trickery or deceit. Is someone not being up front with you, or is there a hidden truth you are keeping from yourself? Most secrets end up being broadcast at the most inopportune moments. Might be a good idea to come clean.

MEANING OF THE 7 OF SWORDS CARD: (Thanks to biddytarot.com)
UPRIGHT: Betrayal, deception, getting away with something, acting strategically
REVERSED: Imposter syndrome, self-deceit, keeping secrets

ABOUT THE CARD:
The Seven of Swords shows a man sneaking away from a military camp with five swords in his arms. He looks over his shoulder at the two upright swords he has left behind. The smile on his face suggests that he is proud of himself for having slipped away without being noticed.
NOTE: The Tarot card meaning description is based on the Rider Waite cards.

Haunted Highways #3: New Jersey Bridge

Credit: Weird NJ.com
There are several haunted roadways and in today's blog you'll read about one of them  thanks to the Travel Channel's "Haunted Highways and Byways."   Today's haunt is a New Jersey Bridge.

Haunted Bridge

Apparently, bridges don't just allow drivers to cross over rivers and streams. They also let ghosts cross over from the realm of the dead into the land of the living. According to a New Jersey tale, a dead boy — who may have drowned or been struck by a car — lurks under a bridge on Clinton Road in West Milford. Throw a coin into the water, and he'll toss it back, or at least return it to the bridge or leave it on the ground by midnight. The haunted bridge is near — you might have guessed — Dead Man's Curve.
