Our Annapolis Haunted Encounters Part 3:Ghosts in Shiplap House's Windows
The Shiplap House |
THE HISTORY OF THE SHIPLAP HOUSE - The Shiplap house is a pre-Victorian house, built around 1715, and is now used for offices for "Historic Annapolis." According to Waymarking.com, "This large, separate house is at the end of Pinkney Street in the historic downtown district of Annapolis, Maryland, just blocks away from the Maryland State House and the US Naval Academy. Shiplap House served as a store and tavern in the eighteenth century. The house is named for the random-width flush siding (called shiplap) on the rear facade and the north-east ell. "
OUR EXPERIENCES - As Tom and I (we are both members of Inspired Ghost Tracking) walked by the house we were both drawn to the windows in the
Ghostly face in the window? |
GHOSTS IN THE WINDOWS! - On the top left window, I (Rob) described a woman wearing a bonnet, who would be working in the building, circa 1759 or so, when it was a tavern. Then the ghost moved back and forth past the windows on the 2nd and 3rd floors (we both sensed them running back and forth). When we got home I enlarged the windows and came across what looks like the bottom half of a face, from nose down, peering out the top, right hand dormer window (3rd floor!). I checked for reflections, and since it was a cloud-less, clear, blue sky, it was not a reflection of a cloud.

Great Audience at Belmont Manor Talk: "Recognizing Signs from Spirits of Loved Ones"
Audience getting ready for the talk |
Thanks to Margaret Erhlich of Inspired Ghost Tracking who manages the event with the Belmont Manor and Historic Park (where we held it), and Ronda and Greg from the IGT team there supporting it, too.
Each of them shared personal stories about how their loved ones gave them signs from spirit as did so many in the audience. So many in the audience were able to relate to the different signs I talked about, and felt comforted. Even a turkey I mentioned was a personal sign to someone!

I hope that they tell others, so that more people can find peace knowing their loved ones are around them.

In the News: Scientists Found That The Soul Doesn’t Die – It Goes Back To The Universe
Many religions believe in life after death. It is said the soul goes out of the body to live a new life in the spiritual realm. A wicked person is sent to hell to be tormented by a blazing fire, while a righteous person is sent to heaven to live an eternal and joyful life.
However, scientists believe that this religious interpretation of death is just a mythology. Some researchers have therefore devoted themselves to unraveling this mystery. The starting point: establish that there is some sort of life after death.
At the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom, researchers have confirmed in a new study that there is indeed life after death. The study has been published in the online journal Resuscitation.
The study is said to be the largest ever medical study into near-death and out-of-body experiences. The study revealed that some awareness may continue even after the brain has shut down completely. A human being is pronounced clinically dead if the heart stops beating and the brain shuts down. The condition can also be called cardiac arrest.
According to the researchers, they spent four years examining more than 2,000 people who suffered cardiac arrests at 15 hospitals in the United Kingdom, the United States and Austria. They found that nearly 40 percent of people who survived their resuscitation, described some kind of awareness during the time when they were clinically dead.
Of the 2,060 cardiac arrest patients studied, 330 survived and of 140 surveyed, 39 percent said they had experienced some kind of awareness while being resuscitated. Although many of them could not recall specific details, some themes emerged. One in five said they had felt an unusual sense of peacefulness, while nearly one third said time had slowed down or speeded up.
Some recalled seeing a bright light; a golden flash or the Sun
shining. Others recounted feelings of fear, drowning or being dragged
through deep water, 13 percent said they had felt separated from their
bodies, and the same number said their senses had been heightened.
A 57-year-old man from Southampton, who was pronounced dead for three minutes, said he left his body entirely, watching his resuscitation from the corner of the room. He was able to accurately recount the actions of the nursing staff and the sound of the machines used in his resuscitation process.
Lead researcher of the study, Dr Sam Parnia said the study accurately revealed that people experience some awareness after death.
Dr Parnia was quoted as saying: “We
know the brain can’t function when the heart has stopped beating. But
in this case, conscious awareness appears to have continued for up to
three minutes into the period when the heart wasn’t beating, even though
the brain typically shuts down within 20-30 seconds after the heart has
stopped. The man described everything that had happened in the room,
but importantly, he heard two bleeps from a machine that makes a noise
at three minute intervals. So we could time how long the experience
lasted for. He seemed very credible and everything that he said had
happened to him had actually happened.”
Dr Parnia also added that many more people may have experiences when they are close to death, but the drugs or sedatives used in the process of resuscitation may stop them remembering.
“Estimates have suggested that
millions of people have had vivid experiences in relation to death but
the scientific evidence has been ambiguous at best. Many people have
assumed that these were hallucinations or illusions but they do seem to
corresponded to actual events. And a higher proportion of people may
have vivid death experiences, but do not recall them due to the effects
of brain injury or sedative drugs on memory circuits. These experiences
warrant further investigation,” Dr Parnia said.
Commenting on the study, the editor-in-chief of the journal Resuscitation,
Dr Jerry Nolan said Dr Parnia and his colleagues are to be
congratulated on the completion of a fascinating study that will open
the door to more extensive research into what happens when we die.READ MORE: http://www.sciencepunch.com/scientists-found-soul-doesnt-die-goes-back-universe/

Our Annapolis Haunted Encounters Part 2: The Ghostly Woman Outside
When we visited Annapolis on April 2, we walked around and walked into a couple of places that turned out to be haunted. In Part 2 of Our Annapolis Haunted Encounters, you'll meet: The Ghostly Woman Outside.
When we visited Annapolis on April 2, we walked around and walked into a couple of places that

I've sensed a woman outside of one of the old buildings before, and she continued to stand on the southeastern corner of a white building known as the Waterfront Warehouse. She didn't work in the warehouse in the early 1800s, but she was murdered outside of it by a man with long curly hair (so I (Rob) sensed). It's really weird to get these images when you're just standing outside on a sidewalk in front of a building, but after proving them for many years, you go with it and trust it.
The Waterfront Warehouse is on the corner of "Market Space" and Pinkney Street" in downtown old Annapolis, about 2 blocks from the dock.
What's interesting is that the warehouse itself is not haunted. The ghostly woman, who wears a bonnet and a shawl of sorts, stands outside in front of the right corner. That's where she was murdered by a vagabond who apparently came off of one of the ships at night, and was seeking pleasure (that she refused to give) and money, which she didn't have, so he took her life.

Tarot Tuesday: The Six of Cups
Today your focus may be on children or someone may show up from the past that you reconnect with in some way. Having childlike joy and faith in the benevolence of the Universe is always a good idea. Our past is filled with people who made an important impact on our lives. Today as you think about your life, give thanks for those people who impacted your life in some way and helped change your life and bring you to where you are today.

Our Annapolis Haunted Encounters Part 1: Ghost Shot in the Eye
In today's blog we're going to take you to a new shop that opened in downtown Annapolis where we
both had a weird experience. There's a shop on the corner of Market Street (I can't see the cross street on the sign and don't remember it) across from the State House. There was something weird going on in that shop.
The shop is filled with art work, pottery, jewelry, paintings and other decorative things. There are many nice things within, and some strange things, too. The shop was apparently the location of a former florist as there are 4 large freezer cases (or they used to be) that now act as a showcase for artwork.
It was the basement, however, where things happened. Tom sensed a man crouching in the northeast corner of the basement, and it was there that I had a very strong pain in my left eye. I (Rob) realized that the man (ghost) was either stabbed, shot or punched in the eye. It was likely that he was shot or stabbed since he was dead, and died in that building. He still haunts it today. It's unknown what his name is, or what he was doing there, but it seems to me that it was either a tavern or a brothel in the late 1700s.
Regardless, there's a ghost in that shop, and we wonder what strange things happen in there. Next time we visit the city, I'll have to ask if they have experiences.

Tarot Tuesday: The King of Pentacles
Abundance means different things to different people. Abundance is not just money. The feeling of abundance is all about what makes life joyful for you. If you are a millionaire but are miserable, then you are not abundant. Every day, do something that brings you joy. Never make a decision based upon how much money you will make. Make it based upon how much joy you will derive from life. Obviously we all need money to live, but joy is what makes us truly rich. Just for today, think of abundance as what gives you joy, and work towards doing that more often.
