I recently visited Fort Mc Henry National Park in Baltimore, Maryland. Fort McHenry is the fort that inspired Francis Scott Key to write the Star Spangled Banner, our National Anthem when he saw the giant American flag still flying after a long bombardment by the British Navy during the War of 1812. Fort Mc Henry is an incredible place, with the internal fort preserved for the most part as it was in 1812. All of the out buildings that were put up afterward have been razed, so the grounds that surround the fort are grassy areas that look out over the Patapsco River that flows into Chesapeake Bay. Water energy is of course abundant as the fort is on a peninsula.
When I was walking through the fort I had several experiences. This one in particular occurred when I went into "Barracks Number 2" near the front left side of the fort's entrance. Sometimes a ghost will make me feel the pain they experienced in death, and this was one of those times.
What's puzzling is what time period the ghost was from, because the Fort was always in use after 1812 and served as a hospital and a military training facility.

My Experiences at the Kensington Book Festival!
On Sunday, April 21, I took part in the Kensington Book
Festival in Maryland. I paid for a space and set up my table to meet
people, sell and sign his books. As with every event, there's much more
than just signing books... there are stories and encounters from others
who want to share their stories or ask for help.
My partner drove me over and dropped me off, so I didn't have to deal with parking, and I was so grateful. It was crazy enough trying to find the place to set up and get organized.
The day was unseasonably cold with temperatures in the upper 30s in the
morning and only in the low-mid 50s for a couple of hours in the
afternoon, despite the sunshine. The wind chill made it feel like it was
in the 40s most of the day.
Our friend Diane brought her husband Mark to the event, so I was finally able to meet him. We know Diane through Inspired Ghost Tracking, the group we belong to that investigates historic places and private homes. Diane is so sweet - she heard a college student talking to me about her experiences and came over to me and bought a book for the student (who didn't seem to have the money for it). What an amazing gesture of kindness. It was great to meet Mark, too, who doesn't come to the ghost group meetings - he's warm and funny.. He's from Scotland, too, so he has that great scottish accent. :) They made my day.
People that came to my table had encounters with Earth-bound ghosts, or
spirits of loved ones they lost and received signs from. Three teenage
girls told me they used a ouija board, and then things started to happen
in their home- which I told them is no surprise. It opens a doorway and
anything can come in. I gave them a card for Inspired Ghost Tracking,
and have a feeling that I'll be visiting their house with the group to
clear it. Don't ever use Ouija boards! - Another person told me that
weird things are going on in their business and causing some employees
to quit. Still others mentioned that spirits of their loved ones have
visited. It was fascinating to talk with everyone. That's the best
part.
Some wanted to get messages from their loved ones from learned mediums so I gave them business cards of my friends and great mediums Barb Mallon www.barbmallon.com and Ruth Larkin.
As for book sales, well, in 6 1/2 hours, I made enough to cover
the space I rented at the festival - but most of the authors had a similar
experience. Perhaps it was the cold. Regardless, the bottom line is
that it's about educating the public that there's more than just this
life - and if I can give people hope then I've done what I needed to do!

Springtime and Ghostly Activity
Right around the time of the Vernal Equinox, something interesting happened - at least it seemed to happen here in the northern hemisphere (specifically the Mid-Atlantic where I am located). Reports of ghostly activity incoming to the Inspired Ghost Tracking group that I belong to - has increased. In fact, the team has been overwhelmed with requests to investigate and eradicate ghosts from houses.
Although some people may associate it with Easter and the resurrection of Jesus, I think there's a more scientific reason behind it.At the time of the Vernal (spring) equinox, the tilt of the Earth's axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the sun, where the center of the sun is in the same plane as the Earth's equator. Around the time of the equinox, night and day are about equal length. As the northern hemisphere moves into spring, the days become longer (i.e. more sunlight, more energy, more warmth and light).
More energy streaming into the Northern Hemisphere in Spring and Summertime can power more ghostly activity. This is just a theory, but anytime energy is added to an environment with a ghost, it gives the ghost more ability to communicate or be active. Last week, I touched upon homes situated near high tension wires that emit energy and also enable ghosts to be more active - it's all about energy.

Does Living Near an Energy Source Affect the Paranormal
Ghosts and spirits are energy- they're emotional and physical beings of energy, and to manifest or make themselves known they need power - either kind of power. For people who live near high-tension wires, they can act as a power source for the paranormal.
High-tension wires transmit bulk electrical energy at high voltages (110 kV or above) from power plants to electrical substations. These high tension wires also emit electric and magnetic fields known as EMF (which ghost hunters use to detect ghosts). Those fields can serve to "power up" paranormal activity in a home located near them (however, the home has to have a ghost in it- ghosts just aren't drawn to homes near high-tension wires).
Ghosts choose to stay in a place when
people die and decide to stay Earth-bound. If they’re not in your home, it’s
rare that they will come into a home (unless someone is using a Ouija board or
invites them in). Spirits, however, can use that energy to come and visit their loved ones and give signs during special occasions.

Meet: the Very Special Sharon Ramirez author of Phantomology 101
Margaret and Sharon |
Meet Sharon Ramirez, the author of Phantomology 101 and paranormal investigator. This is an amazing story of Sharon's friend Margaret, who found a way to make Sharon's first book into a reality, as Sharon battles a serious illness.
I was introduced to Sharon in December through my friend Margaret, who manages Inspired Ghost Tracking. Margaret told me that Sharon wrote a book 2 years ago about the history of ghosts and ghost hunting, but was unable to publish it because Sharon had been battling cancer. Having now published 2 of my own books, I happily agreed to help out with edits, revisions and
Sharon and I meet for the first time in person
the publishing process. So, I corresponded mostly with Margaret over the course of a couple of months to get photos and direction for the book as Sharon found it difficult to talk during her treatments. I did have some communication with Sharon directly until we got closer to publishing.
After working back and forth with Margaret to get pictures and answers on formatting, and revisions, I was thrilled to see the proof copy of the book arrive. After going through the proof and making more revisions, the book was ready. The book was recently published through Createspace.com and is available on Amazon.com for $7.99. Sharon's dream of publishing her first book had come true thanks to Margaret's drive to help her friend.
A packed room for the book signing!
"Phantomology 101...Hunting The Haunted," includes a history of ghosts & ghost hunting to the modern day science of ghost hunting, what every paranormal investigator needs to know! It's available on Amazon.com: http://tinyurl.com/cbrpsoo
Sharon celebrates her first book |
Last week, I attended Sharon's first book signing event and finally met her in person after months of working through Margaret and later with Sharon via text and email to make the book a reality. What a wonderful sight to see an entire room packed with supporters who bought Sharon's book and listened to her give a brief overview. Sharon was glowing and it was so rewarding to Margaret, me, her brother Rodney (who as also there) and so many others from Inspired Ghost Tracking.
Tom, Rob, Diane, Renee |
It goes to show you that with a little help from your friends, all of your dreams are possible.
More information about Sharon follows:
For several years, Sharon Ramirez worked for one of the most prominent law firms in the Baltimore area of which one of her duties were spent helping to research the Law Library. She then moved on into the field of property management and real estate. Because of her legal background, she was appointed corporation court representative on all cases filed on their behalf. It was not long afterwards that she suffered a serious illness that resulted in a NDE (near-death experience) that changed her life forever!!! She went back to seriously researching again, but this time it was for answers to something more unusual...paranormal phenomena and the truth to life-after-death. Sharon Ramirez founded and formed Maryland TriState Paranormal, researching and investigating spirit & ghost phenomena throughout the Delmarva and Mid-Atlantic Region for the past decade. Her work has been featured in "The Frederick News Post," "The Examiner," mentioned in Michael Varhola's latest book, "Ghosthunting Maryland," and more. She has been on various paranormal radio shows, and co-hosts "The Haunted Syndicate." Her latest works include the investigation of Centralia, Penn., of which she was a cast member in Boston filmmaker, Robyne Marie's lat-est Paranormal Documentary, "Ghosts A'Fire." Sharon Ramirez studied Human Services, Case Work, Counseling, and Psychology at the Community College of Baltimore County, Maryland. She manages case files of paranormal activity, and interviews and counses clients who feel they may be victimized by a haunting.
