A short video for Halloween: Haunting the Patapsco Female Institute

Since it's Halloween and everyone wants a ghost story- you can learn about the hauntings of a famous institute in Maryland in this 4 minute video interview. Rob Gutro was interviewed about the Ghosts in the ruins of a building in Ellicott City, Maryland.

Go inside the ruins of a once-famous institute for young women. The former site of the Patapsco Female Institute is filled with history and some paranormal reminders of the past: from former students to wounded soldiers, these spirits seem to inhabit every floor.

About the event: JOY'S TAROT 101

Join me on Sunday, November 11 for the second in a series of classes on connecting with and reading the cards of the tarot. Tarot is an ancient set of cards that have been used for divination for hundreds of years. Each picture in each card has its own vibration and universal meaning, but in my class we will learn to combine our own innate intuitive abilities along with the wisdom inherent in the cards to find comfort, information, and wisdom as well as messages from the Divine.
This is going to be a once a month class. Each class will be building upon the previous one, but if you miss one or didn't make it to the previous one, I will try to catch you up as well as I can. It is relatively important to commit yourself to this series of classes.
These classes will be held at my home in Winchester Virginia for $25 per class.
We will learn the traditional meanings of the cards, as well as learn the subtle meanings which come only through your connection with your own inner intuitive abilities. We will learn some basic spreads and be reading for ourselves and others in no time!

A Coin Sign from Spirit: My Dad Comes to my Lecture

The coin I found dated 2008 just before my lecture
This past weekend I gave a lecture about my latest book "Ghosts of England On a Medium's Vacation" at the Tysons-Pimmitt Public Library. Before I gave the lecture my dad let me know he was there and why.... just as spirits of your loved one do!

As I wrote in my books "Ghosts and Spirits," "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead," and my Pets and the Afterlife books, spirits often send us coins after they pass as a way of confirming they are fine on the other side and still around us from time to time.

VALIDATING COINS FROM SPIRIT - Moving a coin or anything from someplace to right in front of us is called an apport- and it takes a lot of energy. When you find a coin, check the YEAR, because it could indicate which spirit is thinking of you. My dad often sends coins dated 2008, the year he passed. My mom and our dog Sprite sends coins dated 2013, the year that they both passed. Usually I find the coins whenever I happen to be thinking of them. That means they are around when I think of them, and they send a coin as confirmation.

HOW I FOUND THE COIN - After pulling into a parking space at the Library (and there were many open parking spaces), I got out of my car and immediately saw a coin on the ground. - What's interesting here is that it was apparent my Dad guided me to park in that particular spot. There is no such thing as a coincidence when it comes to Spirit!

WHY MY DAD APPEARED - In fact, I found 2 pennies. The first one I picked up was dated 2008! That was the year my dad passed. The second was 2012, a year before my mom and our dog Sprite passed (sometimes spirits can only send what's available). The 2008 coin just confirmed that my dad was with me before the lecture, as he is whenever I speak publicly. My dad taught classes at a business school, and did a lot of public speaking. So, he's always with me, supporting me whenever I do the same. What a great comfort.

So, know that spirits are watching over you,and communicating with you. As I wrote in my books- you just need to know the signs- and my books teach them to you! (books are available on Amazon.com). -Rob Gutro

A Nice Comment I Received!

It's so nice to receive compliments, and people don't do it often enough with each other. Whether it's to a waiter or waitress in a restaurant or someone who opens the door for you. Always remember to thank someone or show them your appreciation.  Recently during one of the lectures I gave, someone I met sent me this wonderful note:

Awesome guy!
Good at what he does and I got a sweet heart felt hug!
  Thank you again Rob!
I feel so much better and am so grateful for you!!

Haunted or Staged: An Irish School Ghost?

This You Tube video claims to be "CCTV footage from Deerpark CBS, the oldest (and most haunted!?) school on the south side of Cork City."
Surveillance cameras captured some spooky happenings in a hallway at 3 a.m. on Oct. 1 at Deerpark CBS school in Cork, Ireland, on Oct.11, 2017.
However, as a paranormal investigator, I have to question a couple of things.
1) CCTV cameras normally don't have sound. Such as the CCTV camera in Hampton Court Palace that caught a ghost after hours flinging open a door.
2) The camera angle is odd. It's not angled down from the ceiling, but is horizontal to the lockers as if someone is standing at a tripod camera.
So, it's a tough call on this one without knowing the camera placement and if the camera had sound.

Rob Lecture on "Ghosts of England" Sat. Oct. 27th at Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library. , Virginia

Meet Author Rob Gutro: The author discusses his new book, “Ghosts of England: On a Medium’s Vacation.” Books will be available for purchase and signing. From 10:30 a.m. to noon at Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library., 7584 Leesburg Pike, Falls

ABOUT THE BOOK: What happens when a medium goes on vacation? Can a medium simply switch off their ability at will? Well…not exactly. Rob Gutro is a medium/author/paranormal investigator and a scientist who has written 4 books about his encounters with human and animal ghosts and spirits. In this book, you will read about his experiences on two separate trips to the United Kingdom. England’s rich history and many epic battles have caused an over-abundance of residual emotional energy. Everywhere he traveled, he had a paranormal experience. He explored royal palaces and spent the night in haunted castles. He encountered the ghosts of historical figures including a queen, a prince, and a nobleman; and several ghosts even shared their pain of death experience with him. On one occasion, the doppelganger of a loved one provided directions when he became lost while driving in the countryside due to a malfunctioning GPS. But not all of his encounters were of the human variety: there was also a very special visit from a canine ghost. This book is intended to be more than just a collection of personal ghost stories. In addition to relating my ghostly encounters, he has also included a short narrative history of the places where the experiences occurred. After all, knowing the history of a place is key to understanding why a ghost has decided to stay behind. So, join Rob as he relates his encounters with the ghosts of England. Rob has written 4 other books about the paranormal, two about people (Ghosts and Spirits and Lessons Learned From Talking to the Dead) and 2 about pets (Pets and the Afterlife and Pets and the Afterlife 2). The books are available in paperback and e-book on Amazon.com.

Haunting Facts About Edgar Allen Poe's Burial

my friend Brad at Poe's grave
Although not a paranormal topic, but close to Halloween, this blog will share some information about the classic horror writer Edgar Allen Poe who died in Baltimore, Maryland.
Since I love history and reading, this blog combines both!
Edgar Allan Poe died a mysterious death on October 7, 1849. Recently I visited his gravesite with a friend (in the photo at his gravestone) and wanted to know more about it.
So, Christopher P. Semtner, curator of the Edgar Allan Poe Museum in Richmond, VA, provided 13 facts about the circumstances surrounding his untimely demise, and the following 2 are about his gravesite. For the other 11, there's a link at the end of this blog.

Poe’s body was moved decades after his death.
Poe was buried in an unmarked grave in his grandfather’s plot in Westminster Burying Grounds in Baltimore. Eleven years later, a cousin paid for a monument, but the stone was destroyed by a train that crashed into the stone carver’s shop. It was 26 years after Poe’s death that teachers and students raised the money for a proper monument which was placed in a place of honor next to the cemetery gate. While it was being moved to the new location, Poe’s coffin broke, revealing what was left of Poe’s remains. Pieces of the coffin are now collector’s items. Supposedly, one of Poe’s female admirers wore a cross fashioned from pieces of the wood.

Poe’s wife was buried next to him nearly 40 years after her death.
Poe’s wife died two years before he did, and she was buried in his landlord’s family crypt in the Bronx. After he was reburied under his new monument, some of his admirers decided to move her next to him in Baltimore. The problem was that developers had already built over her cemetery and moved the bodies. Fortunately, one of Poe’s eccentric biographers William Gill rescued her bones. Unfortunately, he took them home with him and kept them in a box under his bed for years before he sent them to Baltimore for reburial.

Photos from the Animal Rescue League of NH Event!

Sign for ARLNH
On Oct 21 I visited the Animal Rescue League of NH in Bedford, New Hampshire (near Manchester) and gave a talk about how pets communicate from the afterlife. It was emotional and amazing. There were lots of hugs, tears, laughter, healing and wonderful experiences shared.

The ARLNH
The lecture was called "Pets and the Afterlife" based on my 2 books of the same name, and everyone wanted to hear more so my presentation went 90 minutes instead of 60 minutes . There were also many great questions. It was so wonderful to meet everyone and support the rescue, too.

WHERE is the rescue?  ARLNH is located at 545 Route 101 in Bedford, NH 03110
WEBSITE:  https://www.rescueleague.org/

Marianne and Charlotte organized the event and gave me and my friend Dr. Bill a great tour.
Dr. Bill says hello to a Shelter cat!
Dr. Bill is a Medical Psychologist who is writing a chapter for my next book, Pets and the Afterlife 3.
ARLNH is operated entirely on donations and needs your support.  They also need volunteers to help manage the pets they have.   They frequently hold events, to check their website for them. I urge you to visit their great facility, and support them!
