Inspired Ghost Tracking Featured in Baltimore City Paper

BALTIMORE'S CITY PAPER SPOTLIGHT ON INSPIRED GHOST TRACKING

Since I joined Inspired Ghost Tracking a couple of years ago, I've had the opportunity to investigate historic places and personal homes. I've participated in helping rid problematic ghosts from homes.

Several of the adventures appear in my new book "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead."  https://www.createspace.com/3824548 or

Thanksgiving Means Those Who Passed Still Sit at the Table

Thanksgiving is not only a big holiday for the living relatives in families, but it also tends to be one of those times when those who passed come to visit, too. Any holiday, special occasion, birthday or anniversary are typically times that spirits of loved ones (who crossed into the light) come to visit us.
Why do they come on Thanksgiving?  Think about it. Spirits are just the souls of relatives who passed. Like living people, they enjoy gathering with family members and what better time to see everyone together than at Thanksgiving?
So, this Thanksgiving, if you've lost a loved one, be on the lookout for signs. Whether you find a penny on the kitchen floor, or your electricity does funny things, or you hear a song on the radio that reminds you of your loved one- those are just some signs they can give.
One Thanksgiving some years ago, my friend Lynn's late brother came to me with signs that she was able to confirm. So, enjoy the day knowing that ALL of your relatives are around you.
  Happy Thanksgiving!

How Do You Know When You're Hearing a Spirit?

One of the question I've been asked a lot is "'How do you know when you're hearing a ghost or a spirit?"
The answer is that if you "hear" something in your head that doesn't make sense to you, or that you have no idea what it means, chances are you may be getting a message from an Earth bound ghost or a spirit that has crossed over.
Left to Right: Spirit, YOU, person the message is for
How to verify? When you get a message, like the name "Andrew" pops into your head while you're washing dishes for example, and you haven't met anyone by that name lately, or heard the name on TV or radio, it's likely that a spirit or ghost (if you're where the ghost is located) is trying to tell you something about "Andrew."
If you suddenly get a feeling that "Andrew" belongs to your friend Jenny, make a note of it. Ask Andrew to show you something personal to him, and you may be surprised at what you get. You could suddenly see in your mind a red sports car or a hammer and nails, indicating that he could've been into carpentry, home repair, or liked to build things.
Be careful not to interpret the images, though. Let the person to whom the message is for interpret them.
  - I made the mistake of telling a young woman at Barb Mallon's event that I saw her late grandfather sitting next to her. I told her that he was a snappy dresser, loved wearing a hat and getting dressed up on Sundays. I told her he loved reading from his Bible. She insisted that her 2 grandfathers both died before she was young and that my message made no sense. *Days later, after she talked with her father (who was still living), he confirmed that it was his brother, or the girl's late uncle that met the entire message I gave. SO, be careful about calling a spirit a "grandfather, son, father, mother, etc." and just say that it's an older or younger female or male, maybe "like a grandfather" but not necessarily one. The message had a lot of meaning to the woman's father, because he was missing his late brother.

Distinguishing Ghosts from Spirits

In all of the books I've read from other mediums or ghost investigators, most don't distinguish the energies between ghosts and spirits. Most call them all "spirits" but I felt it important to make  distinction, so I call Earth-bound energies "ghosts," and those that crossed into the light, "spirits."
Both are beings of energy and personality, but ghosts choose to stay here on Earth or get stuck here for some reason (which I explain in my books "Ghosts and Spirits: Insights from a Medium,(http://www.amazon.com/Ghosts-Spirits-Insights-From-Medium/dp/1602645132/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1352336292&sr=8-1&keywords=Rob+gutro)  and "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead." (http://www.amazon.com/Lessons-Learned-Talking-Dead-Volume/dp/1475033214/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1352336292&sr=8-2&keywords=Rob+gutro)
Ghosts are all about "location, location, location." They inhabit places they enjoyed during life on Earth, or they're stuck in a place where they died (like a prison or a car accident site).
Spirits on the other hand have joined the energy of the cosmos, or Heaven, or into the light - call it what you will.
Both draw on physical energies and emotional energies. Ghosts emit negative energy, and are fueled by physical energy as well as negative emotional energy, like fear and anxiety. Spirits, however, are full of positive energy, and are fueled by postive emotions like love, faith and hope as well as physical energy. I explain those in detail in my books as well. One thing that spirits can't do that ghosts can, is that spirits can appear in your dreams. That's how you know they've crossed over.

Five Questions with Margaret Perry Ehrlich, of Inspired Ghost Trackers

My partner and I both belong to the Inspired Ghost Trackers group and this month the Baltimore.org interviewed our group's founder.

Spotlight on Baltimore

A walking tour through the ages around Federal Hill delves into the past with tales of murder, mystery and legend. Inspired Ghost Trackers reveal the techniques and science behind ghost hunting through the historic streets of the neighborhood just two blocks from the Inner Harbor, with owners of the local taverns, shops, and restaurants as they discuss the legends and spirits connected with the area.

Five Questions with Margaret Perry Ehrlich, of Inspired Ghost Trackers

Q1- What is Inspired Ghost Trackers and how did you get involved in the paranormal in Baltimore?

Inspired Ghost Tracking started out as a small meet-up group in Odenton Maryland. Within a few years we have grown to more than 130 members with two meetings per month. After a Halloween open house at Scarborough Fair B&B a couple years ago, I met owner Barry Werner and, along with other guests like medium Rob Gutro, we shared our experiences. A few months later, Barry and I began ghost tours with the help of Rob and my assistant Ronda Dixon, who is better with the history than me.

Q2- With interest in the paranormal increasingly popular, how often do you conduct public and private investigations?

We do one public investigation per month with our group and the core group does private investigations whenever we are contacted. This could be two or three per month or maybe just one every couple of months. Public investigations could be places like Patapsco Female Institute, Fort McHenry, Dr. Mudd’s house, or Westminster Burial Ground. Private would be someone calling us about their home or business.

Inspired Ghost Tracking

Q3- If you had to pick one, what is the spookiest place to visit in Baltimore?

I think it would be hard to pick just one as Baltimore has lots of places to visit that are haunted or spooky, including Poe's grave, Westminster Catacombs, Fort McHenry, USS Constellation, Federal Hill, and Fell’s Point. If I had to pick just one I think I would pick Westminster Catacombs as I had a personal experience there hearing the organ playing one night when nobody was in the church.

Q4- What are some of the most bizarre things you’ve seen in your years as a ghost tracker?

We went to Patapsco Female Institute and I got a picture of an apparition that others saw on my camera. When getting home the apparition was gone. Some of the voice recordings that we get are very bizarre, as is knowing that they can answer us. But I think the biggest one is a picture Ronda caught of an apparition at Dr. Mudd’s house.

Q5- How can visitors get involved and explore Baltimore’s haunted heritage?

There are many ways for them to get involved and explore Baltimore’s haunted heritage by the ghost tours around, getting involved in a ghost group, or just exploring on their own. There are a lot of things out there and all they have to do check them out.

Ghosts the focus of Historical Society/Investigation with Rob Gutro

Recently in the Carroll County Times, the following article appeared after Margaret, who leads Inspired Ghost Tracking (of which I am one the investigators) gave a talk in the county. This talk followed an investigation that I took part in and is reported here in the article!

Ghosts the focus of Historical Society talk

Posted: Wednesday, October 10, 2012 12:00 am | Updated: 4:50 pm, Wed Oct 10, 2012.
In the 12 years that Cathy Baty has worked at the Historical Society of Carroll County, she’s never seen unusual sights or felt the presence of a spiritual being.
But paranormal investigators who have searched the Cockey’s Tavern property that now serves as the headquarters for the historical society say they have found evidence of ghosts inhabiting the property.
Margaret Ehrlich, organizer of Inspired Ghost Tracking, gave a preliminary report of her group’s findings after a recent investigation of the property at Tuesday’s box lunch talk called “Do You Believe in Ghosts?” Ehrlich’s group was formed in 2008 and is based in Jessup, though members have done ghost tracking around the state and in the Gettysburg, Pa., area.
About two weeks ago, several members of Inspired Ghost Tracking and medium Rob Gutro went through the historical society’s building on East Main Street on a mission to search for signs of ghosts and spirits. Ehrlich said she is still waiting to receive photographs with suspicious images from other group members, but she was able to give Gutro’s impressions of the walkthrough.
On the right side of the building, which is now the Shop at Cockey’s, Gutro reported sensing a male ghost in his 30s to 40s, wearing a dark suit and a white apron. He believes the man was the bartender when the building was a tavern, and said he kept repeating “Merriman” or “merry man.”
On the left side of the building, which is used as museum exhibit space, Gutro said he could sense the names of the dolls on display, and that he could tell that there was a disabled girl who had lived in the house at some time.
He sensed the presence of a man named Harry, and felt an even stronger presence when he came across the painting of Harry Kimmey, a former owner of the historical society-owned Kimmey house, just a few doors down from Cockey’s. Gutro reported that he believes Harry came to Cockey’s just to see the visitors, but that he still resides in his original home.
Gutro enters an investigation without doing any prior research of the property, Ehrlich said, and they were able to find lots of supportive information for the details that he sensed at the property. She said she’s looking forward to receiving the photographs from other members to see what they were able to capture visually.
Ehrlich showed examples of photographs from previous investigations that got some audible reactions from the audience. At the Dr. Samuel Mudd house in Waldorf, for example, a member took a photograph of another member looking out the window. But a mirror in the photograph shows a stairway in the background with a man standing on the last step looking into the room — a man that was not with their group, Ehrlich said.
Many of the images Ehrlich showed distinctively looked like human forms, though Ehrlich also showed examples of ghostly images that were proved not to be of ghosts. In some cases the people really were in the photo, but the image was distorted by a combination of backlighting and the flash, she said, and in other cases it was a statue and a rain coat that someone had hung up.
Not every investigation yields results, she said. The group conducts a lengthy interview with those seeking to have a property investigated before visiting the house to make sure the call seems legitimate. Ehrlich and the audience chuckled when she mentioned some of those questions include “Do you drink? Do you do drugs? What medications are you on?”
“We dedicate ourselves to investigate, document and provide help and intervention with paranormal supernatural phenomena to clients in need,” Ehrlich said. “Our goal is to provide a free, confidential service that demonstrates professional integrity [through] a combination of science and parapsychology.”
Despite never feeling the presence of ghosts herself, Baty said she’s looking forward to the full report from the Inspired Ghost Tracking group. Other paranormal investigators have been through the building before, she said, and it will be interesting to compare their findings.

Ed's Birthday Today: He's Gone But Comes Back!

Today is Ed's birthday. He would have been 52 years old, but an accidental mix of prescription medications took him from everyone in 1996.
Ed is my other half's former partner whom has come through to me many times with messages. In 2011, Ed's spirit gave me many disconnected signs, pictures, words and symbols that took us on a treasure-hunt like trip with Ed's father in Virginia, that proved that Ed was with every one of his family members the week before we arrived. The messages to me wound up being personal confirmations of things that his family members were involved with the week before we arrived - things I had no knowledge of (I had never before met the family). It was so amazing that Ed was able to help show his grieving father (of 15 years) that he was still around. I wound up including that story in my second book, "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead."

Birthdays are  a COMMON time that spirits come back to us and give messages, so I'm going to be especially vigilant today for signs from Ed.

Ed is a strong spirit and I've come to know him very well, including his sense of humor as a result of the messages I've received from him, even though I never met him in life. That's one of the benefits of being a medium. You get to know people who passed away, from the messages and words they give you. In addition, we maintain our personalities on the other side, so it's easy to get to know them. Happy Birthday, Ed!! I know you can hear me. We're having birthday cake tonight in your memory.

Video of a Strange Shape During a House Cleansing

I recently took part in the cleansing of a private home where the ghost of a middle-aged man was troubling young children. The Inspired Ghost Trackers were called in to cross him over and bring relief to the family.
We stood in a prayer circle and called on relatives of the family that lived there to help us.
Watch the right side of the video. That thing coming out of the ceiling appeared at the time that Troy (the medium seen on the right side of the screen) asked for the family's loved ones to come in and help. We are not sure what it could be, but we do know that we were able to successfully rid the home of the ghost.
(Note: Margaret was holding the camera steady).   What do you think it is?

2 Meteorologists and Ghost Hunters! Check this FL Group

Brian McNoldy
Those who know me, know that I'm a meteorologist in my career. Until now, I haven't run into another meteorologist who also investigates hauntings.
Recently I had the good fortune to "meet" Brian McNoldy, another meteorologist who is also a "ghost hunter/tracker" and he co-manages a group in south Florida called The Haunted Investigations Team or H.I.T.
H.I.T. was established in 2008 in northern Colorado. Along with the original branch in Fort Collins CO, the team has grown a new branch in Miami Fl.  their goal is to help people with claims of ghosts, haunted houses, or other paranormal activity.  WEBSITE: hauntinginvestigations.org

WHAT WE DO
ABOUT THE GROUP:
We provide a free service to the public to investigate, document, and address any suspected or undesired paranormal activity in a residence, business, or outdoor area. We use a scientific and skeptical approach, since the majority of paranormal claims have very normal explanations.  We are professional, discreet, and confidential.
HOW WE DO IT
We use various recording devices and meters to find suspicious areas, debunk paranormal claims, or document legitimate paranormal activity. The devices include thermometers, Electro-Magnetic Field (EMF) detectors, digital voice and video recorders, digital cameras, and webcams... combined with our own experiences.

The Website has profiles of each member, and gives great definitions: http://hauntinginvestigations.org/hit_site_004.htm

Moving out of a Haunted House? Some Suggestions

This was one of my most popular posts, so I'm reprinting it! - Let me know if you lived in a haunted house... (I did in 1996-97 in Kentucky).

Moving out of a Haunted House? Here are some suggestions.
Recently I responded to the following question: We are moving out of a house that we know has a ghost in it. How do we make sure nothing follows us? What should we do?
Margaret, manager of Inspired Ghost Trackers of Maryland, gave this good advice:  I don't think will follow you, but just to be on the safe side make sure you tell them that they can't follow you and they are not welcome to go. They must stay where they are. And, of course if they do follow you then you know who to call!
Credit: http://www.gallopade.com/client/client_pages/MysteryPhotoContestGI.cfm
  Here are my suggestions:
Typically ghosts stay at a place comfortable and familiar to them.
*Tell them not to follow you, and stay put, or better yet, tell them to move into the light.
*Put sea salt just outside the. front door to block them from leaving.
*Picture yourself surrounded by white light and positive energy to act as a block to a ghost's negative energy.
*Finally, think positive thoughts when departing. Ghosts feed off negative energy, so don't give them anything to cling to.

How About a Spirited Ghost Tour of Historic Federal Hill? (Baltimore)

This week's blog is about a NEW GHOST WALK in Baltimore that I had a good part in developing with the Inspired Ghost Trackers. Basically, two of the team, Margaret and Ronda (our resident historian) were joined by Barry from the great Scarborough Fair B&B and me, to talk around and see what ghosts I encountered. Margaret and Ronda used scientific equipment and digital recorders to get confirmations, and Ronda verified deaths of people in places where I found ghosts.
Federal Hill, Baltimore has ghosts from the 1700s, 1800s, 1900s and 2000s- and I found some from each period, doing different jobs. It was quite an experience.  NOW- you can share in the experience and get tickets to hear the stories and experience the hauntings for yourself.
I'll be on several of the tours, but Margaret and Ronda will be hosting most of them- and they've been investigating hauntings for a long time, and have great senses of humor, so it'll be fun and interesting. Hope you can join us. - More info about the tours follow in the story below from Main Street Federal Hill.
Happy Hauntings!   Rob
How About a Spirited Ghost Tour of Historic Federal Hill?
With Halloween just around the corner, there are new “spooky” attractions popping up all over town.  This year, we recommend checking out the new Historic Federal Hill Ghost Tour, guaranteed to give you an unforgettable experience of this historic community.
Barry Werner, co-owner of Scarborough Fair Bed & Breakfast (801 S. Charles St.), has teamed up with Inspired Ghost Tracking, a paranormal investigation group based in Jessup, MD, to provide the most diverse haunted tour in the area. “Science, technology, spirituality, and legend” are combined together to give participants a unique perspective as they walk through the streets of Federal Hill.
Rob Gutro, a medium, along with Inspired Ghost Tracking, conducted research throughout the neighborhood before the tour was developed. For example, they verified a spirit residing in The Book Escape (805 Light Street). So who knows? Maybe you’ll be the next to discover a spirit. Actually, encountering a spirit could be easier than you think! As Barry says, “This community is infused with as much history as it is with spirits of the dead.”
The tour lasts about an hour and is offered on Saturdays at 6 pm and 8:30 pm.  There is a 15-person limit per tour, so buy your tickets today!
For tickets, visit http://federalhillghosttour.ticketleap.com.

Cases of Ghosts Affecting Children

I'm one of the mediums in the Inspired Ghost Tracking group. Since I joined the group a couple of years ago, I've been on several home investigations. Each one is different, and it's always unsettling whenever an earth-bound ghost is bothering children.

Inspired Ghost Tracking is dedicated to investigate, document and provide help and intervention with paranormal and supernatural phenomena to clients in need. Inspired operates in Maryland and service surrounding communities within our areas of operation.
Recently I went on an investigation where two children kept seeing a figure (it was a male ghost). Children have the ability to  see,  hear and sense ghosts., where adults have lost the ability. WHY?  Because a child's logical thinking has not developed.
As a child, we have not yet learned to try and explain everything by "normal means," - that is, try to provide a logical explanation for everything that happens in the physical world. As we grow older and are educated in math, physics, science, etc. we look for logical explanations for things that happen in the atmosphere, or noises made - like tree branches rustling in the wind, or houses settling, or steam coming out of heat vents on cold days.
Children don't look for those explanations, so their open minds see ghosts and spirits more easily, because they don't immediately discount them. -
So, whenever a ghost is bothering a child, and adult really must pay attention and ask the child questions. Ask: Is it a man or woman? Is it a boy or girl? What is their name? What do they say? What do they look like? Did they live here? Why are they  talking with you? When do they come to you? * Remind a child that a ghost was once a living, breathing person and are likely looking for help to move to another place and be with their relatives.
If the child is scared, then go easy with the questioning and learn as much as you can. Then, call a group like Inspired Ghost Tracking to investigate, confirm and help cross the ghost over.
These were taken at a woman's house in North Carolina. They moved into an old farm house and when the woman who bought the house entered, she got a heavy uneasy feeling. She has seen and heard things in the home. This photo was taken during a birthday party for her oldest son. She couldn't believe what she saw in them. Her grandaughter seems to be looking at a ghost. My Investigation on the Streets of Baltimore

One of the cool things I do is investigate places that may be haunted. Yesterday, I joined Margaret and Ronda of Inspired Ghost Tracking (the group I belong to) and Barry, who is a co-owner of a great Scarborough Fair Bed and Breakfast in Baltimore, to walk the streets of the Federal Hill neighborhood and see what kinds of ghostly activity I could pick up.

Rob tells Barry and Ronda about a murder that happened on this spot.
I've been to Federal Hill many times, and have never sensed anything, usually because I was paying attention to the people I was with or the event I attended. This time my focus was tuning in to the energy and events of the past.
I honestly didn't expect much, but walked away with about 12 different entities all with distinctly different stories. Most of them were outside, because we didn't go inside buildings -  which is somewhat unusual, because ghosts usually linger in places they were familiar with, unless they died outside, as several people did, and still lingered.
CONFIRMATIONS:   I'm not going to give any details here, but I will say that I was able to confirm several of them!  In one case on a certain street I sensed an accident (long ago) and identified the type of person killed and how- and Ronda, the group historian, said she had read about that very accident in her research!   In one of the places, now a bar and eatery I sensed a shadow man and it was confirmed by the bartenders.
WHO WERE THESE GHOSTS?  I received messages from dead people from all walks of life: a politician, warehouse worker, rum-runner from Prohibition, a prostitute, banker and more. I was able to sketch several of them out, too.
In short, this event was very much like my experience in England - there were a lot of ghosts around. I just had to tune in an pay attention. Eventually, all of these stories, once proven by Ronda as she continues to search through historic records, will be published or put into a tour (Which is why I can't disclose any details now) . I'll keep you posted.

Who made the First EVPs?

Margaret and Ronda of Inspired Ghost Trackers asking questions on digital recorder
According to Wikipedia, "Electronic voice phenomena (EVP) are electronically generated noises that resemble speech, but are supposedly not the result of intentional voice recordings or renderings. Common sources of EVP include static, stray radio transmissions, and background noise. Recordings of EVP are often created from background sound by increasing the gain (i.e. sensitivity) of the recording equipment.
So, who made the first recordings of ghosts or spirits? According to George Noory's book Talking to the Dead, it was Waldemar Borogas in 1901. He was exiled to Siberia and used a Thomas Edison phonograph during a session he was beating drums. Between the drumbeats he heard disembodied voices!
Working with the Inspired Ghost Trackers, we've recorded several of them, including one from the Book Escape in Baltimore where we investigated. At the time we got the EVP, I thought I heard a man's voice briefly. When we listened to the digital recording later right after I thought I heard the sound, we all heard "Go away!"
Pictured here are Margaret and Ronda of Inspired Ghost Trackers asking questions during an EVP session. The hardest part is listening back to the recording to see if anything or anyone speaks up!

Thomas Edison and Contacting the Dead

I've been reading George Noory's book "Talking to the Dead." George is well known for being the host of the amazing and widely syndicated radio show "Coast to Coast AM." I was honored to be his guest recently and really enjoying talking with him.
 - George's book talks about the history of EVPs, and obtaining audio from ghosts and spirits. One of the things that piqued my interest was his discussion of Thomas Edison. He said that Edison said several times that he may have thought communicating with the dead was possible. At one point, Edison said "There is a doubt. I am not sure. That's the reason I am experimenting. But if I didn't believe, I wouldn't try."  Noory said that if Edison tried to work on a prototype, none was found when he died.
Thomas Edison
  Ghostvillage.com wrote an arhttp://www.ghostvillage.com/ghostcommunity/index.php?showtopic=19802ticle about Edison's communications:
Noory's book is filled with many people who tried creating "telephones" to talk with the dead, including an inventor in Scotland who put a telephonic apparatus to the throat of mediums in order to "hear spirit voices" coming from within the medium. That invention came about in the late nineteenth century.
Interesting stuff- and check out George Noory's book "Talking to the Dead" for more info on trying to obtain electronic recordings and EVPs.

VIDEO: Ghost at The Book Escape: Part 1 (Baltimore, 2012)

Author and developing medium Rob Gutro talks about his abilities to communicate with those who passed. Part one is a general overview of what ghosts and spirits are, and the difference between them.  -Toward the end of this 4:44 minute video, Rob talks about the happenings of the Book Escape. IN PART TWO: More Clues about ghost is that haunts the Book Escape.

**NOTE: There were some children in the audience- so the talk was toned down as not to scare them. (One thing I mentioned was that ghosts can't harm you. However, the negative energy they give off can adversely affect the emotions and tension in a household.
***COMING NEXT: PART 2 DISCUSSES THE INVESTIGATION***

Rob Gutro wrote "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead" (MORE about the book, and to order the paperback: https://www.createspace.com/3824548)  and "Ghosts and Spirits: Insights from a Medium."  BOTH are available in paperback and E-book through Amazon.com (Ebook for Lessons at $2.99, Ebook for Ghosts at $3.99)
Rob has been featured in the Washington Post, MSNBC, and heard on the world-wide radio program "Coast to Coast AM with George Noory," "Paravizion Radio," Ghost Chronicles Radio, Gazette Newspapers, Unknown Paranormal Radio, the Francis and Jon Show and many more.

Article to Consider - Can Dealing With Evil Spirits Kill You?

I ran across this article to consider: Bad Vibes: Can Dealing With Evil Spirits Kill You? http://whofortedblog.com/2012/07/15/bad-vibes-dealing-demonic-affect-health-kill-hurt/
I just learned that Ryan Buell at 30 is dealing with pancreatic cancer. He was the team lead for Penn State's "Paranormal State" television program. The article suggests that several paranormal researchers that dealt with demonic entities became extremely ill. It's something to think about. It's also a good idea to mentally shield yourself before going on investigations- picture a white light of safety around you.
My feeling is that negative energy, and depression within the person weakens someone's immune system. I have a friend in Virginia who has now battled four different types of cancer (starting over 26 years ago) and because he's optimistic and doesn't get depressed, he continues to beat physical ailments. Other people, however, who are battling depression are often sick with various things. That doesn't mean that depression causes illness. Not by any means. It means that depression and a negative attitude will weaken your immune system and make you more susceptible to an illness. - That's been proven for decades.
I sincerely wish Ryan the best. He's an incredible guy and has inspired so many. Now he's inspiring many in his battle with pancreatic cancer. Please send him positive thoughts, and keep YOUR thoughts positive to help yourself.

Read the Baltimore Guide Article: Medium visits Federal Hill book shop and identifies ghostly inhabitant

Read the great article the Erik Zygmont of the Baltimore Guide wrote about my appearance at the Book Escape in Baltimore. Margaret Perry Ehrlich and Ronda Dixon of Inspired Ghost Trackers were there, too, and helped tell the story of our previous investigation. http://baltimoreguide.com/http:/baltimoreguide.com/medium-visits-federal-hill-book-shop-and-identifies-ghostly-inhabitant/

Medium visits Federal Hill book shop and identifies ghostly inhabitant

Written by on July 18, 2012 in Featured, Neighborhood News - No comments
Medium Rob Gutro relaxes among the stacks at The Book Escape, possibly home to a helpful ghost.
Meteorologist Rob Gutro, who talks to the dead in his spare time, says that the weird goings-on at Federal Hill’s The Book Escape, a used book store at 805 Light St., are indeed the activities of a ghostly resident.
Store owner Andrew Stonebarger said he experienced something very strange in the basement of the store.
“I heard a noise in one of the rooms,” he said. “The microwave had turned itself on.”
Stonebarger also described another experience:
“When you’re looking for a special book and you’re going through the shelves, once in a while the book you were looking for will just fall from the shelves,” he said. “It has happened to me once or twice, but it’s also happened to other employees.”
Gutro, an author and medium from Bowie, investigated The Book Escape with members of Inspired Ghost Tracking, a Jessup group that, as indicated by the name, tracks ghosts.
“I was able to determine the identity of the person who still lingered there,” said Gutro. “He had something do do with books per se, but I don’t know if I should give it away.”
Gutro’s latest book, Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead, reveals the true identity of the shade.
At a book signing at The Book Escape last weekend, Gutro treated visitors to the full story of the bookstore’s ghost, as well as an audio recording of the ghost telling him and the ghost trackers to “go away.”
His connections with the spirit world aside, Gutro leads a normal life.
Gutro said that he had his first encounter at 14.
“I saw my grandfather appear in front of me, six months after he died,” he said. “That’s when I knew something was going on.”
Things happened sporadically from then. Gutro’s six-month-old weimaraner puppy died tragically in front of his eyes. After that, “he started making appearances,” Gutro said.
Things really picked up when he met his partner, according to Gutro.
“I fell in love,” he said. “It made me more receptive to messages.”
While he was writing his first book, Ghosts and Spirits: Insights from a Medium, Gutro experienced the death of his father.
But he wasn’t really gone.
At the funeral, Gutro’s grieving mother was sobbing uncontrollably. She quickly reduced her tissues to wet and useless shreds.
Gutro said that his father told him, three times, “Tell her to use my handkerchief.” In their 53 years of marriage, Gutro’s mother had always refused to touch his father’s handkerchiefs, even to wash them. When Gutro finally relayed his father’s message, his mother was taken aback.
“For the first time in 53 years, my mother had one of my dad’s handkerchief’s on her,” Gutro said. “She pulled it out of her pocket.”
Formerly a radio broadcast meteorologist for the Weather Channel, Gutro continues to work as a meteorologist. Additionally, schools, museums, and social groups request him for speaking engagements on weather-related topics. He and his partner love dogs, especially weimaraners and dachshunds. He likes coffee and exercise, he said.

Ghosts in Another Room?

I enjoy watching the ghost hunting shows on television with my partner, who is also a certified ghost investigator on the Inspired Ghost Trackers team. One question he asked was "why are ghosts always in the next room?"
Think about it. If you're watching "Ghost Hunters" or "Ghost Adventures" or some other ghost hunting program, usually investigators hear noises in another room.  Why do you think that is?
Haunted Hospital room. Cr: Lovethesepics.com
I believe it has to do with the personality of the ghost. Remember that ghosts maintain the personalities they had when they were living, breathing people. Some ghosts causing activity in another room may be shy and not want to directly confront the living, yet, they want to let them know that they exist. It's like shy people who want so much  to let people know they're in a room, but are afraid to come up to someone and talk to them. So, the shy ghosts make noise in another room as a "cry for help." Usually, a ghost's cry for help means a request to help them cross into the light to join their loved ones.
Another personality trait th may be the reason a ghost makes a noise in another room instead of in the direct presence of someone, is that the entity may enjoying playing/toying with people, and trying to scare them. People who were controlling or power hungry in life, would be controlling in death. Those kinds of people who are now earth-bound ghosts, would enjoy scaring people from a room away, making them wonder what happened in another room.
Whatever the reason for a ghost making a noise from another room- it's all to get attention to let the living know they're dwelling in a place, and they want help crossing into the light.

My Thanks to the Book Escape, Baltimore

I had a great time today giving 2 short talks about the ghost that haunts the Book Escape  http://www.thebookescape.com/(and he's a good-tempered ghost), and meeting some great people. The Book Escape is a used bookstore (that also sells new books and MORE) in Baltimore, Maryland's Federal Hill neighborhood, which is in  itself very historic.
My thanks to Andrew for hosting me- and for Erik Zygmont of BaltimoreGuide.com for attending and writing an article about it. (Watch http://baltimoreguide.com/ for an article later this week).
My thanks to Margaret and Ronda of Inspired Ghost Tracking (of which I'm a proud member) for coming up and helping out with the technical aspects of the talk, and Lisa from the group.
Thanks to Steve for videotaping (watch for the video soon on this blog!), and Jane for the introduction to Andrew several years ago that led to the investigation and an earlier talk, too. I met other great folks like Rico, and a woman and her two children, who so nicely sat and listened. There were also others, too.
It was a great experience, and an amazing book store, which I highly recommend. After all, I went shopping there after I finished! :)
