February 21: Ancient Roman Feast of Feralia: Dead Ancestors (Ghosts walked once!)

Credit: http://arcana-mundi.blogspot.com/
February 21st marks a specific ancient roman feast called "Feralia."  This feast is to honor the gods of the netherworld and the souls of the deceased, in particular dead ancestors.
There is one time that the Romans didn't acknowledge it, and ghosts were said to appear.

Ancient Roman Ruins from 2016
According to  histmyst.org/festivals.html, " Romans brought offerings to their tombs including wreaths and bread soaked in wine. There they sprinkled grain, salt, and violet petals.

When once the Romans ignored the festival because of preoccupation with war, it was said that the dead ancestors roamed the streets as angry ghosts!

To mark the mournings, marriages were prohibited on this day, magistrates did not wear their insignia and all temples were closed for business.

Is it possible to help ghosts cross over remotely?

I've partaken in crossing several ghosts over from their Earth-bound prison. Being a medium with the Inspired Ghost Tracking Group, it takes several of us to get enough energy to make it happen. Recently I received the following question and provided a response.

Q: Is it possible to help ghosts cross over remotely?

A: Yes, it is possible to cross a ghost over remotely however, it would take a number of people to make that happen. It's all about energy. It takes several members of the Inspired Ghost Tracking team (of which I am a member) to open a portal of light to the "other side." - So, if you joined others and concentrated to open a portal, it can be done. One person typically isn't strong enough to do that alone. - The next step would be to call upon the ghost's relatives in spirit to encourage them to cross from the other side.

Valentines Day is a day Spirits of Loved Ones Surround Us

Like most days that are considered special or even holidays, the spirits of our loved ones come around and sometimes let us know they're here. So, watch for a sign - maybe a coin, maybe a flower from a stranger or one you find. It could be a song on the radio that reminds you of someone who has passed, and it could be a person or a pet in spirit. There are so many ways they communicate with us to remind us they love us.
In the "spirit" of Valentines Day, here's a great picture of Crusoe the Celebrity Dachshund (he has the best costumes) to wish you a great day, filled with love.

The Feast of "Parentalia": To Honor the Dead, Especially Parents

Ancient Romans had a lot of feasts and last year after going to Italy I did some digging about those celebrations. Several of them were to honor the dead as was one called "Parentalia" held every February 13th, specifically to remember  their dead, especially parents, including in the process some heavy drinking.

On the 21st a feast called "Feralia" (which I will explain to you on this blog on February 21st), people visited cemeteries outside the city and placed flowers, milk and wine on the graves of their parents. By doing this, they hoped to stop the dead from feeling hungry and returning to plague the living.

Later on these days were followed on the 22nd by the Caristia, the day of Cara Cognatio which was a sort of family re-union of members still living. Quarrels were patched up, offenses forgiven and a sacred, but joyful meal to which everyone brought something was shared in the presence of the household Lares to whom offerings were made. It was not inappropriate either to offer a toast to the Emperor's health.

So eventually it was nine days and called the parentalia novendialia. It's possible that Christianity "baptized" this practice as the "novena".

Difference Between Spirit Messages in Dreams and Your Influences

Recently I was asked how to differentiate spirit messages in dreams from non-messages.

Q: One thing that bothers me is dream signs/visitations. How do I differentiate between common dreams about a deceased person or pet and dream visitations?
I've had a couple of dreams since my pet died, they seemed like visitations but two of them were pretty horrible because at some point of a dream my pet got hurt.

A: The difference between dreams/messages and dreams from your subconscious fears is that messages from spirit are always positive dreams. Spirits don't want us to feel fear or anxiety- they want to share messages of love and peace.   Those dreams that you may have of bad things happening to someone who passed are linked to fears from your subconscious.

Q&A: Can Negative People Affect Paranormal Investigations?

Join Inspired Ghost Tracking for paranomal investigations
As I've noted in my books, Earth-bound ghosts both absorb and emit negative emotional energies like
fear, anxiety, depression and anger in addition to the physical energies like heat, light, water and electricity. So, recently I saw a question about if someone is doing a paranormal investigation and someone else is a pessimist, has anger issues or is depressed, is it possible to affect the investigation. Here's the question and my response:

QUESTION: Can a negative person in a paranormal investigation give off enough negative energy to give misreadings that a ghost is present?

ANSWER: No. Negative energy can be felt from ghosts, and also from living people, but the living during an investigation don't linger in one spot long enough to leave an imprint that can be mistaken for a ghost. However, sensitive people will pick up on a living person's negative energy, but they can distinguish it from a ghost's negative energy.

Spirits will influence things in nature to give Signs (Sprite's Butterfly Returns on Anniversary)

Spirits will influence things in nature to give us signs. They'll make things like birds, butterflies, dragonflies, squirrels behave oddly or appear on an anniversary related to them (either their birthday, holidays, anniversary of their wedding or their passing, etc).
Such was the case this July 8, 2016 when a yellow and black butterfly appeared (after not seeing one all summer) on the anniversary of our dog Sprite's passing (3 years before). The butterfly behaved oddly and lingered a good 10 minutes around me and our three dogs. I recorded the last couple of minutes of the butterfly's weird visit - that told us Sprite is still around us.
VIDEO LINK https://youtu.be/slTriH59_w4
Not every butterfly, etc. is a sign. - But it likely is, if it's behaving oddly, or if the sign happened before.
In 2013, three days after Sprite passed we got a sign from him in the form of a yellow and black butterfly that flew right near all three dogs.
First, it's unusual for a butterfly to fly near dogs. Secondly, the dogs didn't go after it. They just watched it. It was as if they heard Sprite telling them "I'm here." Our three dogs and we just watched that butterfly and I took several pictures of it. The butterfly just stayed there on the grass. It was a message from Sprite that he is fine and regained 100% health as a spirit. We were all happy to see this wonderful sign from Sprite.
