Ten Most Bizarre Cemeteries: #2 - Sedlec Ossuary, Czech Republic

Today's blog will tell you about one of the 10 Most Bizarre Cemeteries In The World Recently
TheTravel.com did a series on the top 10, and I'm sharing them again here. BTW, cemeteries aren't haunted. Earth bound ghosts who chose to stay, stay at places they knew in life, a place where they died, lived or liked. However, spirits who have crossed over can come back and visit living people in cemeteries. Now, on to the bizarre cemetery of the day...

Sedlec Ossuary, Czech Republic

The Czech Republic's Sedlec Ossuary has a history as bizarre as the church itself. Appropriately nicknamed "Bone Church," the 40,000-plus human skeletons that came to decorate the interior of the church were originally buried in the church's cemetery. When overcrowding became an issue in the 1870s, church officials employed FrantiĊĦek Rint to move the bones inside the church.

As unsettling as the decor is, the church boasts a spectacular chandelier made entirely out of bones, among dozens of other impressive features. You just can't hire interior designers like that anymore.
