Frank the St. Bernard's Physical and Dream Signs

Frank the active St. Bernard spirit

I received the following note from Kaitlyn who told me how Frank, her Saint Bernard who passed provided a number of different signs. She allowed me to share them as a way to show how pets can communicate from the afterlife.

Kaitlin wrote:

Hi. I just finished your book "pets and the afterlife" and I loved it. My sweet baby frank just passed away two weeks ago ;( I've never been more sad about anything. I'm lucky to be very spiritual and open minded. I knew I was getting signs from him and after reading your book I am definitely reassured.

Signs such as a gate falling over three different times in his room. When he was alive it never fell over once.
Playing with his gate

I was actually reading your book last night and got to the chapter about pets and how they are connected to their ashes. I got up from reading and I looked in his room where his lashes are under the light fixture. The light was on. I never turned it on.

And of course I see him in my dreams. Your book really brought me a lot of comfort and now I know I'm not just going crazy

I am really pleased to see that Kaitlin was able to recognize Frank's signs. Obviously, his spirit is quite active in her house. Frank told me that he's "far from done!" so Kaitlin is going to get a lot more notice that Frank is still around.

My thanks to Kaitlin for allowing me to share this story.

Tarot Tuesday: The Hanged Man - A Topsy Turvy Situation

Here's this week's Tarot lesson from my friend Joy Andreasen of Whispers of Joy:

Sometimes when we offer ourselves in service to others our own life tends to get topsy turvy. Sometimes we may feel that our own needs get put last after everyone else. This can cause frustration or we can accept it as the way things are right now. The Buddhists believe that the way to alleviate suffering is to accept that nothing is permanent. Rest in the knowledge that nothing ever stays the same. Peace is acceptance of what life hands you. When you give, do it with love and know that you will be rewarded three fold. If you give with resentment you get nothing but a bitter heart. Life has a way of balancing the scales eventually. Karma repays you not just for what you do, but how you felt when you were doing it. Doing good deeds without love is worthless. Just for today, think about not only what you do, but how you feel when you are doing it. No, sometimes we can't control what happens, but we always can control how it affects us. Do everything with love in your heart, and watch things change.

The Hanged Man (XII) is the twelfth trump or Major Arcana card in most traditional Tarot decks. It is used in game playing as well as in divination.
It depicts a shameful image of a traitor being punished in a manner common at the time for traitors in Italy. Some versions portray Judas, and include the bags of silver in his hands.  In other interpretations, The Hanged Man is a depiction of the Norse god Odin, who suspended himself from a tree in order to gain knowledge.

Part 3: Horse Sensing a Ghost on the Trail

In my book "Pets and the Afterlife" I mention that horses, dogs and cats have the ability to see, hear and smell ghosts and spirits. Following are three stories from readers whose horses may have experienced a ghost or spirit.
This is the third of 3 stories about horses seeing ghosts or spirits as shared by readers:

Digger noted: There is a spot on our trail ride that our horses are terrified of as we approach they try to turn around if we make them walk on they snort and sweat and are very frightened and when we do turn around they literally bolt until away from area these are really slow forward moving Clydesdales that is an effort to get them to trot let alone gallop there is also a definite cold spot near a big concrete water tank (no lid) can they be sensing something bad

I responded to Digger's note with an explanation of what is happening:   It may not be something bad that they're seeing- just someone who passed. Sometimes when horses, dogs or cats see spirits or ghosts, they can sometimes be unnerved by them. They can hear and see them, and sometimes the entities don't have any scent (it takes a ghost or spirit a lot of energy to just appear, so the odor or scent is not as important when they appear). The lack of scent will confuse a horse/dog or cat.

Part 2: A Ghost Horse in Virginia?

In my book "Pets and the Afterlife" I mention that horses, dogs and cats can remain Earthbound as ghosts (they usually cross over, though) or cross over and become spirits.
This is the second of 3 stories about ghostly horses or horses seeing ghosts or spirits as shared by readers:

Sylvie said:  Have you ever heard the story about the famous Secretariat's ghost? I read about it online ages ago and I wish I'd kept the link! It's been claimed that at dusk people have heard the thundering hooves of a very fast horse at the Meadow Farm in Virginia (Secretariat's home/birthplace). I never got to see Secretariat race... I'd love to hear his spirit pound the dirt!

Editor's Note: I have not been able to find any information about this ghostly activity, so if you have, please let me know.
