Website for Desperate Pet Medical Costs

:

Some people are just amazing. I met some at the New England Pet Expo in Sept. when I was talking about my book Pets and the Afterlife. One was a veterinarian who works with a new charity to help people with medical costs for their pets.  That's where I learned about this extraordinary charity called "Pet Chance."  www.petchance.org
The site posts a picture of your pet and why a donation is needed and when it is needed by.
I looked through it and there are a lot of pets in need. So, if you can help a pet out who is currently in desperate need, please go to the site. Every penny helps.

ABOUT PET CHANCE: PetChance.org is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in MetroWest Massachusetts. The mission is to remove obstacles for pet owners so they have more opportunity to provide excellent medical care for their pets.

THE FOUNDER:  On Thursday July 12, 2012 Peter Alberti, Founder of PetChance.org, was listening to a Boston-area radio talk show. The guest was a veterinarian who answers callers' questions about their pets. The prevailing theme from many of the callers was: "My vet told me my pet needs a treatment I can't afford. What cheaper alternatives do I have?

In far too many cases, pet owners are forced to sacrifice quality of life for their pets due to financial constraints.
In the worst cases, people must choose to euthanize a pet when reasonable medical care might have been an option.

Peter called the radio show to try to introduce the concept of Crowd Funding - web sites that enable multiple people to donate small amounts of money to a larger cause. When he couldn't get through the busy signals, he realized there was an opportunity to improve the Crowd Funding process and make it specific to pets and their owners. Et voila! PetChance.org was born.

HERE IS ONE POST:

Img_0055Marley is a 2 year old mini toy poodle who just had the most unexpected accident. It was a normal week for my family which includes me my three kids and husband. My daughter and I went to visit my sister who lives in Connecticut. We left Marley with my two sons and husband. On Sunday September 13th 2015 we received the most devastating call. It was my husband telling me the news that changed my life. Marley had gotten hit by a car when he ran out of the house. We immediately left Connecticut and went back to New Jersey. My husband had taken Marley to the animal hospital right away. When we arrived home we waited and waited for someone to tell us what had happened. The doctor said Marley has multiple pelvic fractures and it cost $5,000 so Marley can have the surgery he needs. $5,000 is a lot of money and we have no idea what to do right now. Marley has helped me through a lot from helping me defeat thyroid cancer to helping me get over my depression. Some people don’t understand how hard it is to see a pet in pain. Now we’re hoping the best for Marley he currently cannot walk and is having trouble going to the bathroom. It’s crazy to think of how someone’s life can change in the blink of an eye. I can’t imagine loosing Marley he’s the type of dog that will be right by your side through anything no matter what it is. He’s my best friend and I’ll do anything to help him get through this.  Will you help raise money for Marley?

Sincerely,

The Rodriguez Family

Well- received talk: Poltergeists, Demons, NDEs (and highlights from it)

NDEs
Last night, Nov. 6, I gave a first time talk called "What are Poltergeists, Demons and Near Death Experiences" at the Inspired Ghost Tracking (IGT) Meeting  . It was well-received, there were great questions and people shared their own near death experiences. I also met several people who are sensitive to spirits and ghosts and trying to refine their abilities. I'll blog on that later
The meeting was held at the Harry L Cooper VFW Post 160, 2597 Dorsey Road in Glen Burnie, Maryland and the public is welcome to come to any of them, and decide whether or not they want to joint the group or listen to one of the presenters (which is always the first Friday of the month).
I'm a member of the group, and usually give talks once a year,  whether they're centered around one of my books, IGT case files, or something else. I decided to address poltergeists because of the remake of the movie from 1980, which totally mis-identifies what a poltergeist is - it's not a ghost, btw. It's energy that simulates a ghost. A later blog will explain poltergeists.
demons
The Near Death Experience part of the presentation was pretty amazing. Three people in attendance had physically died for a short time (longest was about 5 minutes) and came back. Their experiences were amazing and corresponded with what I spoke about. I'll address NDEs in a later blog, too.
The presentation about demons and my theory on them generated good questions and seemed to make sense to the audience. Basically, they're life forms from somewhere else in the cosmos. I'll do a later blog on that, too.

2 Confirmations of Identity from a Puppy's Spirit

A couple of months ago, I received an email about the loss of someone's puppy. The writer didn't tell me anything about the dog's passing or what the dog looked like. However, the puppy came through to me with confirmations of both things to prove that he was indeed in spirit and healthy on the other side with the person's relatives. (Reprinted with permission of the pet parent)

Here is the initial email:

stock photo of a black puppy
I had to say goodbye to my little 4lb 3 month old puppy. It was very traumatic for me to find him in the position he was in. He was in my arms. We walked into the vets and saw him in a position that really just gutted us. I have that image embedded in my mind. It's still very hard for me to try and recover because I just keep thinking of him and what I could've done and if I did enough for him. My heart aches for him since that day and I just miss him so much I just really want him back. Listening to you speak of the afterlife has really comforted me to know that he can possibly be with me. Is there any way you can tell me he's with me, with any specifics so I know it's him?

Here is my response:
Did your puppy ingest something that took him? Something in his stomach that was responsible for his passing?  -
Our dogs bind to us quickly, and you will feel his energy around you. I get the sense that he also followed you around the house primarily. Who is the black-colored dog?

I hope some of these things make sense to you. If they don't, they may in time.  - Just know that he is safely on the other side, and can hear you. It was his time to pass, although short and tragic, but his passing acted to bring you closer to someone human.  Those are the messages that I'm getting.

Here is the Pet Parent's response to the messages of confirmation I got:
I'm not sure if my puppy actually ingested something but he bit an electrical cord. When they did the X-ray on him he had pieces of something in his stomach though, I'm not exactly sure what it was but the vet said it was something metal. I'm thinking pieces of the electrical cord.  The black dog may have been him or it could've been my little dog I had when I was younger.

BOTTOM LINE: Since I had no information about his passing , those messages from him were a great confirmation he is on the other side- he confirmed to me how he passed and what color fur he has. Tell your dad that those are two pretty clear confirmations he's okay. How would I know if he didn't tell me?

NOTE : IF YOU THINK YOUR DOG INGESTED SOMETHING, IMMEDIATELY RUSH THE DOG TO THE VET OR NEARBY ANIMAL HOSPITAL.  Treatment: Obstructions require immediate veterinary attention. Surgical exploration and relief of the blockage is necessary.INFORMATION

The Greatest Dachshund Rescue Adoption Story: Max and Milo

Although this has nothing to do with spirit - it will warm your heart. One of the things that I do with my hubby is work in dog rescue with Dachshunds and Weimaraners. We've been fostering a dachshund for the last three months - and he was adopted and reunited with his brother. Here's their story.  - Rob

The Greatest Dachshund Rescue Adoption Story: Max and Milo

Tom,Rob, Cindy, Milo and Max
On November 1, 2015 a Dachshund Rescue Miracle happened for two senior rescue dogs.  Max and Milo came to the rescue 3 months before, were placed in separate foster homes (because of limited space) and were adopted together.

THEIR STORY: Max and Milo are both 11 years old and long-haired Dachshunds. Max is black and tan and active, and Milo is red and overweight (he ate Max's food apparently).  They grew up together but were turned into Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue (C2CDR.org) by a woman who experienced a divorce and couldn't care for them in their senior years. So, the rescue agreed to take them in.
Milo picked up for adoption day!

Max wondering what was happening
TRANSPORTING THEM FROM INDIANA TO MARYLAND: Since the only foster homes available were in Maryland at the times these brothers of a different mom) came into the rescue, they had to be driven from Indiana to Maryland- and it's all through a series of volunteers.  Donna of  CCDR coordinated with Katie, who arranges dog transports around the Eastern U.S.  They had to go from Indiana on a transport through Ohio, West Virginia and finally to Maryland.

Milo in his crate
FIRST TRANSPORTER: Scott Elliott had never done a dog transport before, but was asked to help out since he lived in Ohio and there were several transport legs that were unfilled. Scott said " I was approached by my two friends, Rob and Tom, to help transport two very cute dogs along their journey to Maryland. Here's his Video blog about his experience: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVZKqmCP7ro
Tom did the driving

ARRIVAL IN MARYLAND:  Several volunteers provided travel to get Milo and Max east. One volunteer in Pennsylvania also put them both up overnight.
Finally, on August 2nd, Rob and Tom were at the end of the transport in Maryland. They brought Milo to April for fostering and they fostered Max.

HOW DID THE DOUBLE ADOPTION HAPPEN?

Max waiting to go
Less than a month before, Cindy came to the Dachshund "Dachtoberfest" in central Pennsylvania and met Rob and Max. Cindy's precious dachshund Reeces passed in April, and she wanted to help other Dachshunds get a loving home.  Cindy immediately fell in love with Max and when Rob told her about his brother Milo, she was interested in adopting them both and reuniting them for life to live out their senior years together.

Cindy Sees Max first!
NOV. 1- TRANSPORTING THEM TO CINDY! Cindy (the adopting mom) and her son Michael live in eastern Pennsylvania, and Max and Milo were being fostered in south-central Maryland. So, early on Sunday, Nov. 1, Rob and Tom picked up Milo at foster mom, April's home in southern Maryland. They put Milo in a crate to hide him from Max, to ensure the reunion was a total surprise to both.

They returned home with Milo and loaded their 2 Dachshunds and 1 Weimaraner in the back with Milo (in his crate). Tom drove to Delaware while Rob held Max in the passenger seat (buckled in together). It was about a 90 minute drive and Max kept wanting to go in the backseat (where Milo was in the crate).

Cindy, Michael, Milo and Max
THE BIG MEETING ON VIDEO! - They met near the Christiana mall in Delaware and brought Max out to meet Cindy (again). Then, Milo's crate was put down as Cindy let Max go over and sniff. Rob opened Milo's crate and both Milo and Max couldn't stop wagging their tails like crazy and sniffing each other. It was really emotional.

HAPPY ENDING - After 3 months of being separated and in foster care, they were adopted together by a wonderful mom named Cindy who brought them back together. BELOW is a video of their reunion after 3 months when they went to their new forever home together!
Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue (CCDR) is a National Non-Profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing needy Dachshunds and Dachshund mixes from coast to coast. CCDR has been very successful in achieving the goal to find loving families and forever homes for the dogs they've taken in.

Please support c2cdr.org to help Dachshunds find foster homes, get medical care and find forever homes.

In the News: Massachusetts lawmakers consider bill to allow owners be buried with their pet

Here's an article that I found interesting. Nice to see that some places are realizing that some pet parents feel like their dogs and cats are their children and should be buried together.

In the News: Massachusetts lawmakers consider bill to allow owners be buried with their pet

Massachusetts lawmakers are considering a bill that would allow pet owners to be with man's best friend even in the afterlife.

A new bill to allow cemeteries to bury deceased pets with their former owners was discussed during a Joint Committee on Public Health hearing on Tuesday. Massachusetts law currently prohibits cemeteries from letting humans and animals be buried together.
Rep. Nick Collins, a Boston Democrat, sponsored the bill and emphasized Tuesday that it wouldn't force cemeteries to allow pets, only make the option legal. The language would allow for both human and animal remains be buried together, including cremated remains, in a designated portion of a cemetery.
Animal Advocate Bill Trabucco, of Dorchester, spoke on behalf of the bill, State House News Service reports. "They're a family member. They just happen to have four legs and fur," said he said. "They'll give you undying love and loyalty, and I think we all know being part of the human race, we don't always get that from each other."
Trabucco, the owner of eight cats, two dogs and two birds, told SHNS he'd like to be buried with them. "All 12 and the ones who passed before," he said. He added that he'd like his wife buried alongside him as well.
Massachusetts Cemetery Association, which represents non-profit, private and religious cemeteries, opposes the bill on religious, environmental and sanitation reasons. A legislative agent for the association said they're willing to work with proponents to present a bill they both agree on.

A Look at Lycanthropy (and a great Adult Fantasy Book by I.R. Harris with Wolves)

Werewolf
Since Halloween was yesterday, and everyone still has their decorations up, and are still enjoying their Halloween candy (or leftovers), I thought I'd share another "Spooky" word and a great Adult Fantasy Book by I.R. Harris with Wolves!

WORD:   lycanthrope
PRONOUNCIATION:   lahy-kuh n-throhp, lahy-kan-throhp]
noun
1. a person affected with lycanthropy.
2. a werewolf or alien spirit in the physical form of a bloodthirsty wolf.
WHAT IS A WEREWOLF? A werewolf, also known as a lycanthrope is a mythological or folkloric human with the ability to shapeshift into a wolf or a therianthropic hybrid wolf-like creature, either purposely or after being placed under a curse or affliction (e.g. via a bite or scratch from another werewolf).
The concept of a werewolf dates back centuries to ancient cultures. It gathered more attention during the middle ages at the same time as witchcraft.  To see a long history, go to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werewolf
