Urns, Ashes and Spirit Visitors

People who have urns in their homes with ashes of people or pets may get spiritual visitors, but they
are NOT ghosts. As I explain in my books "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead" and "Ghosts and Spirits," spirits (who have crossed over) of our loved ones can be drawn to their ashes, because their ashes contain a small amount of residual energy.

Ghosts are earth-bound and usually stuck to the places they choose to dwell. Spirits (human or pets) who cross over into the light, can come back to earth and visit their loved ones any time they have something to say. Having their ashes in the house gives the spirits something extra to be drawn to. That doesn't mean you need their ashes to have them visit you. Most people and pets are buried or cremated and spirits only visit their gravesites when a loved one comes to pay their respects. The living person's emotional energy of love gives strength to the spirit to draw them there.

One woman told me that she has ashes of her cat, and sensed that cat several times. My own puppy that passed has come back to me many times, and I have his ashes in the house. Years ago, a roommate had ashes of his mother in the house and she appeared in the house who appeared as a dark shadow in the apartment.

So, urns containing ashes can be a draw for spirits to come back from time to time and visit but its a minimal draw. They come back because because you love them and they love you. All they need is love.

But that shouldn't prevent you from burying the ashes. Spirits of loved ones find us because of the love we share for them. That love acts as an invisible tether of energy that enables spirits to come to us anywhere in the world at anytime.

What to Do With a Person or Pet's Ashes?

One of the things my partner and I have talked about is what to do with our ashes after we're gone. Of course, we plan to have them mixed with the ashes of our dogs and spread out somewhere. On January 31, 2019, an article in BBC News highlighted how Washington State is moving to legalize using ashes for compost. It makes sense, really. The Earth is running out of cemeteries and why not contribute your remains to help grow plant life? Think about how many tombstones sit in older cemeteries that no one knows. Granted, that some religions mandate burial, but if you can look past religion (we're all going to be energy as a spirit -or an earth-bound ghost if you prefer - although you shouldn't), you can do something after your time to help promote other living things!
There's a company in the U.S. already that inserts ashes in a "bio urn." The company, called "Living Urn" said a tree urn is a biodegradable urn or bio urn that grows a tree in combination with ashes or cremated remains. The Living Urn tree urn and the urn itself is made from 100% biodegradable materials that are all natural and it will grow a living memorial tree. The Living Urn offers a special Bio Urn for People and a different Bio Urn for pets. You can learn more about them here: https://www.thelivingurn.com/

Meanwhile here's the BBC article...

How do you compost a human body - and why would you?
BBC NEWS 1-31-19

This is the vision - in an indoor garden, a honeycomb structure lines the walls, and inside each cell, a human body composts. When it's done, loved ones take home a pot of soil, not an urn of ash.

A person's final resting place could be the foundations of a flowerbed or could feed the roots of a tree.

This is what Washington state is preparing to legalise. If the bill passes, the western state would be the first in the nation to allow human composting as a burial option.

Here's what it means to choose a compost burial - and why a growing group of Americans are eschewing convention for a new way to rest in peace.

The driving force behind the movement in Washington state is Katrina Spade and her company, Recompose.

It says it can turn you into useable, fertile, soil in 30 days.

"It's just an accelerated process of natural decomposition," says Nora Menkin, executive director of People's Memorial, a non-profit funerary services advocacy group in Seattle, Washington.

The method Recompose offers is based on the ways we already compost livestock - with a few changes from Washington State University soil science researcher Prof Lynne Carpenter-Boggs to make the mixture more socially acceptable.

Based on research from Prof Carpenter-Boggs' team, the final process involves placing the body in a mix of wood chips and similar composting materials, allowing thermophilic - heat-loving - microbes and bacteria to get to work.

Remains are also heated to 131 F (55 C), killing off contagions so the resulting soil is safe to use - a key part of why many supporters prefer this manner of burial.

"We have all this energy and potential that's either burned up or sealed away in burials, when it could be utilized to let life go on," Ms Menkin says.

Here's the Full Article (that goes into how a corpse would decompose if buried, and it's icky): https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-47031816

Urns, Ashes and Spirit Visitors !

One of the most popular blogs I've written is about ashes and urns and I get a lot of questions about keeping ashes of a loved one who has crossed over (and become a spirit). The bottom line is that ashes can act as an additional draw for spirit, but it's not necessary.  Spirits can find you wherever you go, anywhere in the world at any time. Ashes just act as an additional draw, but are not at all necessary for a spirit to find you.

GHOSTS - Ghosts are earth-bound and usually stuck to the places they choose to dwell.Ghosts don't need ashes to appear, because they have already chosen the place they'll dwell in the afterlife and they usually don't move from it, unless a place is razed, or they follow someone (which rarely happens)

SPIRITS - Spirits (human or pets) are those who cross over into the light to Heaven, Paradise, Valhalla, etc.  Having their ashes in the house gives the spirits something to be drawn to, but it's a minor thing compared to your emotional connection to them.

WHY ARE ASHES AN ADDITIONAL DRAW TO SPIRIT? The answer is energy. Spirits (and ghosts) are all energy. The ashes we leave behind have residual energy of the person that passed. Just as if a human left residual energy on an object (like a clock or a door) when they were alive, if it had some emotional meaning to them. Ashes also have that "thumbprint" of emotional energy, and spirits are also drawn to them.
- Spirits of both humans and pets can be drawn to their ashes. Ashes act like a beacon to them whenever emotional energy is present to help power them.

PET SPIRITS AND ASHES - One woman I met told me that she has he ashes of her cat, and has sensed that cat several times. My own puppy that passed has come back to me many times, and I have his ashes in the house. Years ago, a roommate had ashes of his mother in the house and she appeared in the house who appeared as a dark shadow in the apartment. So, urns containing ashes can give spirits a little beacon to come back from time to time and visit, but your love is more important.

SPIRITS DON'T NEED ASHES TO FIND YOU- you don't need the ashes of a loved one for their spirit to visit. Otherwise, people who miss their loved ones would not be burying them. Spirits can find you anywhere - because it's the LOVE that you share with them that acts as a beacon.

CAN MY PET VISIT IN SPIRIT IF I DIDN'T KEEP THEIR ASHES - Yes. A spirit can find you anywhere, because they're linked to you with love.

THINK ABOUT THIS- Society has been burying people for centuries, yet the spirits of our loved ones have come back and given signs and have even been seen.

Q&A About Urns and Ashes

Today's blog is a question and answer session from emails that I've received about ashes and urns.

Q: When my Aunt spread my grandfather ashes, 3 minutes later I notice white smoke coming from the ground that was a foot away from the spreading of the ashes...... Could that have be his spirit???

A:  It could be a number of things. 1) moisture on the ground scattered as a result of dropping something on it 2) dust stirred up from dropping something on it. 3) OR it could have been your grandfather's spirit coming back to visit to thank her for scattering his ashes as he requested.

Q: My mother's dog is afraid of my father's urn but I don't know why.

A: From time to time, your father's spirit may visit, as spirits often do. Usually around birthdays, anniversaries and holidays, so that could be part of the issue. If there is anything shiny on the urn, like a silver or gold, that tends to frighten dogs.

Q: Mom died six weeks ago, and we had her cremated. We have her urn in the living room. We haven't sensed her presence yet, but I'm trying to keep an open mind about it. If she is inclined to visit, but Dad and I move to another house, would she be able to find us if we put the urn in the new house? Or would she only be able to look for us in the house she'd lived in?

A:  Yes she can find you wherever you go, since she's crossed over. . Your mom's energy is connected to you so she'll find you. Only earth-bound ghosts are fixed to a location  - your mom is a spirit and has crossed over!

Q&A - Will Spirits find us if we move?

Here's a question I received recently asking if spirits will find us if we move.
QUESTION:   Mom died six weeks ago, and we had her cremated.

ANSWER: Your mom's energy is connected to you and spirits can go anywhere, so she will always be with you. Only earth-bound ghosts are fixed to a location - your mom is a spirit and has crossed over.

Spirits can find us wherever we go in the world or on the other side, Their energies are forever linked to ours because the emotional energy of love acts as a draw and a beacon to spirits.

A Q&A on Feeling a Presence from "Urns, Ashes and Spirit Visitors "

One of the most popular blogs I've written was about urns, ashes and spirit visitors. I've received a lot of questions
about the topic. Here's one of the questions I received about feeling a presence in a home with urns.

QUESTION:
What does it mean to have three urns in your home and feel there presence ?

ANSWER: Ashes in urns have a residual energy of the people they once were and when someone who loved them comes near them- it gives them energy to come back and visit!
When you sense someone around it means that your love for them helped them come visit. They just want to acknowledge the love you share continues to bind you all together. Spirits also help guide and influence us to make decisions that will benefit us. So their love shines from the other side.

A Q&A on Cremation from "Urns, Ashes and Spirit Visitors "

One of the most popular blogs I've written was about urns, ashes and spirit visitors. I've received a lot of questions about the topic. Here's one of the questions I received about what cremation does to a soul."

QUESTION: Anonymous
I am nervous of allowing my parents to be cremated when that time comes. I was told that cremation causes the soul to burn for eternity.

ANSWER:    Dear Anonymous- Cremation does not cause a soul to "burn for all eternity." Once the physical body is dead, the spirit transitions to energy and either chooses to cross over into the light (heaven/valhalla/paradise/energies of the cosmos) or remain an Earth-bound ghost.

The idea of "burning for eternity" was created by man and is unfounded and ridiculous. Cremation is no different from burying people. After all, would people who die in explosions and fires "burn for all eternity" because their bodies were burned to ash? That's non-sensical. It's just a superstition made up by someone or some religion to scare people into getting them to do something other than cremation.

In fact, since there is less and less space for physical burials, cremation is a much better alternative. We've cremated our pets who passed and also plan on being cremated. The physical body was just a shell that housed the spirit. It's perfectly fine for your parents to be cremated, better for the environment, for them (think about their physical bodies decaying in the ground, and either way their spirits will move on.

Urns, Ashes and Spirit Visitors

Back in 2012, I posted a blog about urns, ashes and spirit visitors, and I still get a lot of questions from that blog, so I'm revisiting and adding to it.
ASHES CAN ACT AS A MAGNET TO SPIRIT- People who have urns in their homes with ashes of people or pets may get spiritual visitors. Ghosts are earth-bound and usually stuck to the places they choose to dwell.Spirits (human or pets) who cross over into the light, however, can come back to earth and visit their loved ones any time they have something to say. Having their ashes in the house gives the spirits something to be drawn to.
WHY? The physical body had energy when we were alive. When we or our pets pass, most of the energy couples with our memories and personalities and makes the choice to stay Earth -bound as a ghost, or cross into the light/heaven/paradise/valhalla as a spirit. HOWEVER, because ashes are physical remains, they would still contain residual energy. that is, some leftover energy.

HOW DOES RESIDUAL ENERGY ATTRACT A SPIRIT? - Residual energy in ashes can act as a "beacon" to spirit whenever someone goes near them with love in their heart for that person or pet that passed. Love is a positive emotional energy than can "charge" the energy in the ashes and draw a spirit. The spirit would only come to check on the living, and remind them that they are still with the living person from time to time.
WHAT IS RESIDUAL ENERGY? -  Just as if a human left residual energy on an object (like a clock or a door) when they were alive, if it had some emotional meaning to them. Ashes also have that "thumbprint" of emotional energy, and spirits are also drawn to them.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCES- One woman I met told me that she has he ashes of her cat, and has sensed that cat several times. My own puppy that passed has come back to me many times, and I have his ashes in the house. Years ago, a roommate had ashes of his mother in the house and she appeared in the house who appeared as a dark shadow in the apartment. So, urns containing ashes can enable spirits to come back from time to time and visit. Just watch for them!

Urns, Ashes and Spirit Visitors

People who have urns in their homes with ashes of people or pets may get spiritual visitors, but they
