As a meteorologist and a paranormal investigator I strive to explain the paranormal with science and this is my explanation for why cold spots can sometimes appear whenever we sense an Earth-bound ghost or even a spirit (who has crossed over).
Scientifically, heating a liquid or gas increases the speed of the molecules. Cooling a liquid or gas decreases the speed of the molecules. Fast moving molecules of air are warm(er) air, and slower moving molecules of air are cooler air. So, a ghost basically extracts the energy moving the molecules of air and slows them down, creating a column of cooler air where the ghost is standing.
